Very cool guy

A few months ago, I had written about Cash Cab and how much I enjoyed the show. One of my brother's friends does camera work and he was also a camera man for Cash Cab. When I found out about that, I had asked my brother to see if his friend could score me an autograph from Ben Bailey. No luck.

Needless to say, I was bummed out but, hey, life goes on. Today, while speaking to my brother on the phone, he suggested I check my email. So, I've got Tim on the phone while I download my emails. To my total surprise, I found this in my email:

Hate to admit it...

The main reason I watch Drake and Josh with the girls is all due to Crazy Steve. He's really funny and I love the fact he's such a freak! Now, he's not so crazy as Spencer on iCarly. He still cracks me up and the girls like him too.

Isn't he a cutie?

House Spoilers

Bond3.jpg

Don't look below unless you have already seen tonight's episode of House...

I love why House fired Big Love. Pretty sneaky for a self-righteous religious guy. How about the scene when House realized that Cuddy wasn't wearing underwear? Bahahahahaa! "Oh My God!" indeed! The scenes with Thirteen very much reminded me of the scenes with Cameron, especially when House sent away for test results. He did the same thing to Cameron to test for AIDS. I was surprised to see him throw away the unopened envelope.

I'm SO looking forward to next week!

New and Improved American Gladiator

Ok - I was a huge fan of American GLadiator. I loved watching people try to pass through the obstacle course or battle it out with pugil sticks. You can only imagine my delight when I read that Hulk Hogan (whom I adore) will serve as the host of NBC's revival of American Gladiators, due to premiere at midseason, the network announced Wednesday.

"Hulk Hogan is an American icon," NBC Entertainment Executive Vice President Craig Plestis said in a statement. "For over twenty years he has been a symbol of strength and toughness in all facets of entertainment. His electrifying personality will no doubt inspire Herculean efforts from our everyday challengers. There is no one more qualified to host this program."

Oooh - I found some clips on YouTube!

Cash Cab

I gotta say that I totally love this show. What a formula - a free cab ride, NYC, and the opportunity to win cash.

And - the host? His name is Ben Bailey and he rocks too. First of all, he's a Jersey guy. Secondly, he's funny as hell.

Go watch Cash Cab - you'll love it!

Gotta Love The Discovery Channel

I don't know if anyone else is interested but Shark Week will be airing all this week, starting Sunday at 9pm. This particular episode is about the worst shark attack in history, the story of the USS Indianapolis in World War II. It's a horrific but true event - all those poor men, just waiting for help that took days to arrive, helplessly watching fellow crewmates perish a horrible death due to multiple shark attacks.

Be sure to watch this Sunday.

Secret Favorite

I really love "Death To Smoochy". There's something about it that is just so deep and twisted. Jon Stewart and Danny DeVito were so evil - attempting to kill a childrens character! All the marketing that goes along with the kiddie shows is just disgusting.

Mad Men

madmen.jpg

Husband and I watched Mad Men tonight. It was really fascinating. I love the whole look of the time - the mens suits, the womens hair and clothes.. The one thing that was difficult to watch was the blatant sexism and chauvinistic behavior from the men. Understandably, that was the status quo but I found myself cringing when one of the male characters was obnoxiously rude to the secretary.

I am so glad, for the most part, that times have changed.

Order of the Phoenix

Eldest and I just got back from watching Harry Potter and the

da.jpg

It was awesome! Of course, the screenplay was very different from the book. I wish the other sub-plots were included but, for the purpose of time (and money), I understand why it was decided to move on without those scenes. The movie would have been over four hours long! I would sit through a four hour Harry Potter movie. The cast was brilliant. The one thing that was changed drastically was the scene with Cho, Harry and Umbridge. That one I wasn't so happy about because, I think, it wasn't finalized properly. But, I don't write screenplays, I just enjoy them.

I still rate this a four star movie. Go on, go see it now!

Movie Review

surfsup.jpg

Youngestand I attended an afternoon movie show while Eldest was at a birthday party. We stood in line for Shrek 3 but it sold out right before we could get the tickets. Man, I was so bummed. The only other show that was available was Surfs Up.

So, I grab two tickets, pick up a $4.50 small soda and we rush into the show. Let me tell you that we got the last two seats in the very back row. The theater was mobbed, humid, and smelled faintly of dirty diapers. Not the wet kind, if you know what I mean.

Eww.

Well, the show starts and it's a bit violent and dark. As the movie goes on, I am more and more dismayed at the language that was used through this movie.

There was a penguin says "it tastes like sh...,"
A chicken says "I can feel it in my nuggets,"
Name-calling (loser, cocky, jerk, snowflake, bum, blubber-ball, fish sticks, "dirty trash can full of poop")and the winning phrase of pecker face. Pecker face!*

I was shocked. Here's the kicker: not only did the character clearly call another character a pecker face, the theater was running the closed captioning so everyone got to read the words "pecker face" as well as hearing it. I'm sitting in the theater with my seven year old, watching this movie. The theater is full of children of all ages, some even as young as four or five.

Lovely. Just lovely.

So all you readers out there looking to take your young children to this movie, I'd have to definitely suggest you stay home and save your money.

*All the other name calling didn't bother me too much. Youngest's heard them before but I still maintain that pecker face was over the top for a childrens movie.

A New Favorite

Man vs Wild on the Discovery Channel.

from the website:

Bear Grylls is a seasoned adventurer who served with the Special Air Service, a special forces unit of the British army, where he was trained as a survival expert. His experiences include climbing Mount Everest, crossing the freezing North Atlantic Ocean in a small, open boat and climbing a Himalayan peak described by Sir Edmund Hillary as 'unclimbable'. He has been places and done things that would defeat most normal people. But now, he is up against something completely different.

In each episode of Man vs. Wild Bear strands himself in popular wilderness destinations where tourists often find themselves lost or in danger. As he finds his way back to civilization, he demonstrates local survival techniques, including escaping quicksand in the Moab Desert, navigating dangerous jungle rivers in Costa Rica, crossing ravines in the Alps and surviving sharks off Hawaii.

Another bonus -

Watching this guy:

jungle_randr.jpg

Have I mentioned just how much I love the Discovery Channel? Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch, Mike Rowe, Mythbusters, Cash Cab, Mike Rowe, How It's Made, Man vs Wild...

I am such a happy woman.

SuperBowl

Great game - I love it when football gets messy, you know, like the "old days".

The best ads:
Doritos - I liked two of them. The checkout girl who was "checking out" her Doritos man and the one with the guy who crashed his car after oogling a girl on the street. Both were cleverly done.
Coca Cola - I enjoyed all of them.
Fed Ex - I loved the meteor
Blockbuster The guinea pig clicking and dragging the "mouse" totally made me laugh. I love James Woods.
Two words - Robert Goulet. Oh my God - hysterical!
Bud Light - Rock, Paper, Scissors was funny but it was already done last year by Nextel with the phone that had a crime deterrent system. I do *heart* Carlos Mencia and I enjoyed those commericals.
Nationwide featuring Kevin Federline. Awesomely funny. Really!
CareerBuilder.com - Thank God they ditched the monkeys. I loved the "Lord of the Flies" meets "Dilbert" commercials. Reminds me of a previous employer.
General Motors - my favorite was with all the guys running after one car full of women, stripping down, and washing it. Very funny!

Oh, and another thing...

Did anyone watch The Extras last night? Oh my GAWD! The scenes with Daniel Radcliffe were absolutley hysterical. This clip almost made me fall off the couch. Think anti-Harry Potter. Warwick Davis (remember him?) was also featured in the show and the last scene with him literally made me cry. It was that damn funny. I think I am now a fan of this show. I never realized just how funny Ricky Gervais' and his show can be. Check out this clip - around 6:30 minutes into the clip is the scene between Ricky and Warwick. Trust me, it's worth the view!

Whoops! Bad Mommy Alert

Apparently, drinking a glass of wine during a playdate is wrong, according to Meridith Vieira. Melissa of Suburban Bliss was invited to be on the Today Show this past Friday to discuss whether "playdates and happy hour mix?" Check out the video clip of the interview and prepare to be appalled at what you watch. It's nice to see Meridith really reaching out to cover such serious topics like several moms having a glass of wine during a playdate.

Emerging from my football cocoon

Oh my - what a football laden weekend!

I did feel a *teeny tiny* bit sorry for the Eagles. They had it until the fourth quarter then WHAMMO! Right now, while the children (two of mine and one friend) are wreaking some mild havoc on my backyard, the husband and I are watching the Bears/Seahawks game. Next up, the Chargers and the Patriots. Maybe I'll cook dinner... but, then again, they did eat a late lunch. If I were a good mommy, I'd be taking them door to door, assisting them in their Girl Scout cookie sale.

By the way, if anyone is interested in cookies, just drop me a line. You know you want them! Cookies are gooooood!

Husband and I made the gravest of mistakes last night and tuned in to watch the 2006 MTV Music Awards.

Oh.My.God.

Fergie - How come *MY* London Bridge don't wanna go down? WTF? The song - ew. Anyone notice her slight resemblance to Charo?

I did enjoy Justin Timberlake's performance. Rowr - he's got a sexyback alright. Sorry folks, I do think he's adorable and yes, I guess I am a dirty old lady. Heh.

Beyonce - pulease. Janet Jackson called and wants her Rhythm Nation moves back.

Paris Hilton - I think your 15 minutes are WAY up by now.

Jack Black - Dude - you are one creepy man. Personally, I think he looks like a toucher.

I did like The All-American Rejects. What a great name for a band!

Ok, enough MTV.

Things are good here. We've been busy meeting the teachers and picking up some last minute school supplies. Eldest still needs a pair of basic shoes. Youngestjust needs a couple folders.

Husband is working on the bathroom and it's looking better and better each day. We painted the wall behind the toilet so we could install the new toilet. I am going to finish painting when the kids go back to school.

We've got no big plans this weekend. We will probably be staying in since the weather is quite crappy - thank you Ernesto. It's not horrible weather - just crappy enough where we are stuck inside. Wheee!

Ciao for now!

Tonight's the night...

It's Deadwood night baby! I can't wait!

I had a great day today. I had a service unit event today at 2pm. It was basically a mini awards ceremony/leader appreciation/late luncheon event. Usually, at least 50 people register and attend. This year, maybe 25. That is so sad. Our service unit has roughly 56 troops. 56! And, only 25 people attend? Thats a damn shame.

Last year, I won the Soaring High pin (Recognizes significant contributions of an adult member to the advancement of the Girl Scout program through multiple commitments to the Service Unit. May only be received once.) THIS year, I was awarded my 5 year pin as a leader, my 10 year as a registered Girl Scout AND I also recieved the Outstanding Lader Award (Prerequisite – at least 3 years of service in the leader or assistant-leader position. Recognizes a leader or assistant-leader who’s performance is so outstanding in nature that it merits recognition for providing a well rounded program and active support which includes participation in Council and Service Unit programs. All troop leader responsibilities per position description are fulfilled. GO ME! I can't believe that out of all the leaders, I was chosen.

Well, enough bragging about me! What's shakin' with you?!

Oh my Gawd - WTF is up with Taylor? Argh, I can't stand him. He's such a spas. BUT, to grudgingly give him credit, the second song sounded much better. Chris did a fatastic job with his first song and the second song was a bit meh. Elliott, I just love him. I didn't think his first song was that great but he kicked ass on song #2. Katherine - Girl, it's time to go. She was awful last night. Dropping lyrics in the first song and wailing away througout the seond song. It's time for Kat to leave the building.

I decided to treat myself this morning. I saw this at the 1150am show. It was SOOOOOOOO good! It was a lot different than the book - a lot of material was cut out of the novel. The movie was already 2+ hours. If it was exactly like the book, the movie would have been at least 4 hours.

Oy - I'm so happy!

I have a Girl Scout meeting this afternoon and I am going to tease the girls and tell them that I've seen the movie while they were in school. Mwahahahahaha! I'm the evil leader.

Shoulda stuck with Netflix

The girls and I drive out to WalletBlockbusters to see if we could snag Star Wars III. Bwahahahahahahahaha! What a riot. Of course it wasn't available. There were many copies of it there if I had wanted to purchase it. No thanks. I'll get a free rental from the library. I did manage to get a freshly returned copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Racing Stripes (for the kiddies) and Batman Begins. I hope they don't suck. Well, I am pretty sure that Racing Stripes will suck but I'll make the kids watch that tomorrow night. I can't sit through that one sober.

So - what are YOUR hot plans for tonight?

Perfect Scary Movie

The Birds is on AMC right now and it's scaring the crap out of me. Right now is the scene when Tippi Hedren goes upstairs to investigate the strange wing flapping noises she hears.

Oh jeez - I can barely watch! I hate birds.

Ok - so what's YOUR idea of a scary movie? Vote for your favorite scary movie in comments.

Sideways

Husband and I just finished watching Sideways and I thought it was fantastic. I love Husband Giamatti, who is definitely an underrated actor and Thomas Hayden Church was so freaking funny. I think that Virginia Madsen should have won the nomination for best supporting actress. She was brilliant.

Cryin'

Husband and I just finished watching Dodgeball on HBO. Holy crap - that was so damn funny! The uniforms, Vince Vaugn, Ben Stiller - man, we were both cracking up. It rolled back ALL of those elementary school memory tapes for me. God, I hated dodgeball then and now, well, now I sometimes watch it on cable. Yeah, it was my deep dark secret.

Husband and I stayed up last night, watching it on TBS. We were really digging the movie - until the end. What a HUGE turn there. Neither one of us saw that coming.

What's your pleasure?

Your viewing pleasure.

I don't watch reality tv at all. Hell, I rarely even watch the major networks. I don't understand the American Idol craze AT ALL. People are going crazy over the show. Isn't it just a modern version of Star Search?

I do watch television. I find that I watch all the cable channels - Fox, TCM, AMC, FoodTV, Discovery Channel, TLC, History Channel, Spike, SciFi, and of course, HBO. Don't forget all those damn kiddie shows too. I'm trying to cut back the amount of television for the girls, especially during the day for Olivia. I pulled out the Play-Doh for her today and she's been playing with it since 1pm. Eldest got home an hour ago and she sat down to play it WITH Olivia. AND, they haven't bickered once.

Thank you God. Thank you for Play-Doh.

So, tell me, what do you watch? What are your favorite shows?

I watched Deadwood again last night. I missed 20 minutes of it on Sunday when my brother called. Man - that particular episode made my skin crawl. I hate watching people in pain. That episode had a LOT of pain.

Husband and I finally finished watching Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. MAN! That is one looong movie. Husband and I both enjoyed it. The battle scenes were incredible. Amazing. Of course, I also lurve me some Viggo Mortensen too. View image Hubba hubba. (image from here)

Animal House is on AMCTV. I love this movie. One of my favorite scenes is when John Belushi is walking down the stairs at the toga party and listens to Stephen Bishop singing this awful folk song to some girls. The face Belushi makes right before he grabs the guitar and smashes it just makes me laugh out loud each time.

So - who caught tonight's Deadwood? I adore Trixie and I am SO happy that Calamity Jane is back. She just cracks me up. The writers really give her some damn good lines.

Our trip to the mall went well. The girls got their Easter outfits as well as some more clothes. To all moms out there - the Childrens Place had some very pretty dresses for a reasonable price. I got this sweater with the matching blue dress with white trim for Youngestand this skirt with the blue striped top for Eldest. Oh, and another thing

Perhaps Warner Brothers should do more research about renaming Bugs Bunny to "Buzz Bunny". Apparently, Buzz Bunny isn't really for children at all. This link is certainly not safe for work. ::link::

Good God.

Posted by Cate at 01:10 PM | Comments (4)

You DON'T mess with Bugs Bunny

This is an abomination. Bugs Bunny is a classic. My girls, ages 5 and 8, LOVE Looney Tunes. This is the "new and improved" Bugs Bunny:

View image

How freaky looking is THAT? Ugh - I am SO disappointed in Warner Brothers.
(article in extended entry)

HAS Warner Bros. gone daffy?
That's what fans of the studio's classic cartoon characters might be asking after they get a look at the new, futuristic versions of some of their favorite animated heroes, which Warner unveiled yesterday.

The Looney Tunes characters — six in all — have been "reimagined" (in studio parlance) for a new series called "Loonatics," which is set to air next fall on WPIX/Channel 11 as part of the Saturday morning Kids' WB program lineup.

The show features new versions of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Wile E. Coyote, the Tasmanian Devil, Road Runner and Lola Bunny (the newest of the characters, who was introduced in the 1996 Michael Jordan movie "Space Jam").

For "Loonatics," the six characters are being projected 700 years into the future, given superpowers, and outfitted in tight-fitting, slenderizing space gear.

Apparently, falling anvils and exploding cigars are no longer enough to keep kids 6 to 11 years old entertained.

"This is a kids show intended for kids today who are growing up in the Internet age, an age of technology, an age of hip, cool animation, and something that we hope will resonate with that age group," explained Sander Schwartz, president of Warner Bros. Animation, in a phone interview from Hollywood.

He said the characters' superpowers have not yet been finalized. And neither have their names, although they are expected to have names close to those of their ancestors (think Buzz Bunny).

And what of all the other classic Looney Tunes characters? What about Sylvester and Tweety, Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Pepe Le Pew, Speedy Gonzalez and Marvin the Martian?

And what about Porky Pig? Is poor Porky destined to stutter and remain fat and pantless for the rest of history?

Schwartz said Warner settled on six characters because that's as many as a half-hour ensemble show can handle. But he didn't rule out guest appearances by some of the other legends of Looney Tunes, although in futuristic form.

But cartoon purists, raised on the easy-to-understand hilarity of Elmer Fudd blowing Daffy Duck's bill off with a shotgun blast to the face, might rightfully lament the fact that their own kids won't get a chance to grow up exposed to that same kind of classic comedy.

To that complaint, Schwartz notes the old Looney Tunes cartoons will likely run forever on some channel or another, including the Warner-owned Cartoon Network and Boomerang cable channels.

"And secondly," he said, "these are cartoons. Lighten up! They're fun and the existence of one doesn't preclude the existence of another."

Just call him Ralph

All I can say - it explains a lot about the last two minutes of the Super Bowl. I thought he choked.

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb was so ill in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl that a Philadelphia Eagles teammate called one play in the huddle, center Hank Fraley told a TV station.

"He fought to the end. He gave it his all," Fraley said on Comcast SportsNet in a show aired Monday night. "He could hardly call the plays -- that's how exhausted he was trying to give it his all. If you remember back when we played Jacksonville two years ago and he ended up puking, it was close to that scene. He exhausted everything he had."

Eagles spokesman Derek Boyko said Tuesday that McNabb wasn't injured during Philadelphia's 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots. However, McNabb might have been feeling sick -- he fought a cold earlier in the week.

McNabb was shaky at times in Sunday's game. He passed for 357 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions.

The quarterback misfired on several passes early, held the ball too long at other times, and made several poor decisions. One of the best scramblers in the NFL, McNabb had zero yards rushing on just one carry and was sacked four times.

He struggled in particular in the fourth quarter, getting picked off twice and looking slow in getting the team moving late.

"He didn't get a play call in one time," Fraley said. "He mumbled and (receiver) Freddie Mitchell yelled out the play we were trying to bring in. He was puking at the same time, trying to hold it in."

Mitchell said on Tuesday that McNabb was having complications and "couldn't get it out so I just had to finish the play up."

"It was my first time being the quarterback in the NFL," Mitchell said on a local television station. "It was hard. He kind of tried to get the hand signals to the team, but I knew what he was thinking. I just finished the play up."

McNabb left Tuesday for Hawaii, where he will start for the NFC in Sunday's Pro Bowl. His agent did not immediately return a phone call Tuesday.

The QB had the best season of his six-year NFL career, leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1981 after three straight losses in the NFC championship game.

McNabb set a team record with 3,875 yards passing and became the first NFL player to throw for more than 30 touchdowns (31) and fewer than 10 interceptions (eight). His passer rating of 104.7 ranked second in the NFC.

Freaky Show

Last night, Husband and I were watching Modern Marvels on the History Channel. The show was called Death Devices. Holy crap - it's not something you want to watch right before falling asleep. The show was fascinatimg in a true scientific and historical sense but, let me tell you, some of the methods used to put people to death were horrific. One device was to place a person on a wheel and several people would hit them with club, just smashing them and breaking bones until the person died. WTF? The guillotine was featured as well and there was even some secret footage of someone being executed by it.

I have a very hard time watching some of these brutal beatings on the freakin' Sopranos and that's FAKE. I don't know how people can watch executions or brutal beatings. I feel sick whenever I see things like this.

I think I am going to go snuggle with Youngestfor a while. I need some hugs.

Law and Order

Who is into this show?

Not I.

It makes my skin crawl to hear about these awful murders and crimes. What makes it worse is that I know the Law and Order shows are based on actual crimes. Husband was watching an episode last night and I was reading a book, not wanting to get involved, when I hear one of the detectives talk about an audio tape that the victim made of the killer before she was murdered. It sounded familiar so I started to pay a little more attention to the show.

It only took me a few minutes to remember that case. It happened here in New Jersey. It was an odd moment for me, I didn't want to remember this case. I don't want to think there are freaks who would carjack and kill someone just for their car. He specifically targeted her because of the type of car she drove - a Toyota Camry. This woman, a speacial education teacher, had managed to have approximately 45 minutes worth of conversation with the killer, trying to reason with him. She was, at one point, crying and begging for her life.

This episode of L&O just disturbed me. It managed to bring back a lot of memories of an awful crime committed against this poor woman. I hope her family is coping and moving on with their lives. But, how can one move on? I am still dealing with my own issues from my Dad passing away almost 3 months ago. I know a few people, both on and off line, who have dealt with awful tragedies in their lives. They go on.. life does go on...

But, it's hard. So hard.

Howard Keel

I cried when I read this - he was one of my very favorite actors.

Howard Keel, Star of Musicals, Dies at 85

Howard Keel, the broad-shouldered baritone who romanced his way through a series of glittery MGM musicals such as "Kiss Me Kate" and "Annie Get Your Gun" and later revived his career with television's "Dallas," died Sunday. He was 85.

Keel died Sunday morning of colon cancer, according to his son, Gunnar.

Monty Python

I'm watching a Monty Python dvd - The Life of Pythons Vol. 1 - and they just showed a skit of the group singing my favorite song. I thought I would share the lyrics with you. Enjoy!
<i>
Sit on my face and tell me that you love me.
I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you, too.
I love to hear you oralise
When I'm between your thighs.
You blow me away!

Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you.
I'll sit on your face, and then I'll love you truly.
Life can be fine if we both sixty-nine
If we sit on our faces in all sorts of places and play
Till we're blown away!
</i>

Did it again

I stayed up too late last night watching a movie - Caddyshack. Holy crap, I laughed and laughed. I haven't seen it in quite a while. Ted Knight had some hysterical lines. He certainly played an uptight WASP very well. I love the poem he wrote to dedicate to his new yacht - The Flying WASP which, up until last night, never paid attention to the actual NAME of the boat.
Heh. WASP.

So, I will leave you with Judge Smails' dedication poem:

It's easy to grin
When your ship comes in
And you've got the stock market beat.
But the man worthwhile,
Is the man who can smile,
When his shorts are too tight in the seat.

Brilliant!

Late night movie

I was going to go to bed early last night. Really, I was.

You can stop giggling now.

So, I was channel surfing and stumbled across <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089560/"target=_blank>Mask</a> and got sucked right into watching it for the thousandth time. Want to know why I love this movie? Two words.

<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000385/"target=_blank>Sam Elliot</a>. He is just the sexiest man. Yeah yeah.. I know he's "older" (60 according to his bio) but he is just so... manly. Mmmm... and that gravelly voice.. rowr... hold me back..

I found some of these pictures from <a href="http://www.automatedculture.com/sam_elliott/index.html"target=_blank>this site</a>

Yes America, I hate <i>Friends</i>.

I love Sunday nights

The Sopranos and Deadwood spoilers in the extended entry

I really liked this episode with Tony meeting Johnny's <a href="http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/mobspeak/index.shtml">goomar</a>. Did anyone else laugh when Tony saw his old dog Tippy in a picture with the goomar's son? Poor Tippy. LOL. How about when Chris-ta-FER beat the **** out of his friend, shaking him down for money? And, he took his car too? Brilliant. I loved how Tim Daly couldn't even sell his Emmy.

Deadwood rocked. I am still pissed about Wild Bill getting shot but it was going to happen anyway. EB is a slimy little bastard.. almost as slimy as Jack McCall. I felt bad for the sick bastard that got dumped in the woods. I just hope that Jane doesn't catch smallpox. I really like her too. Of course, there just *had* to be a lesbian scene tossed in as well. Whatever.

Well - a good night was had by all. It's back to school tomorrow for the girls. Finally - some piece and quiet! I have to make an appointment with the chiro. I hope I can get in soon as I am still very uncomfortable. The painkillers haven't done **** for me ::sigh:: I am going to call it a night. Ciao!

Cool!

<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040311/ap_en_tv/pier_1_imports_3">FORT WORTH, Texas - Kirstie Alley (news) is out as spokeswoman for Pier 1 Imports. A queer eye is in. </a>

The home furnishing chain has launched a new marketing campaign featuring
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/thom.php" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/thom.php','popup','width=329,height=410,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false"><b>Thom Filicia</b></a>, the design guru of the hit makeover show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."
With the success of shows like "Trading Spaces" and "Queer Eye," it was time for Pier 1 to capitalize on the rising home decorating trend, said Phil Schneider, executive vice president for Pier 1 marketing.
National television ads featuring Filicia were to begin airing Thursday.
"We wanted somebody that was renowned as a decorator-expert and Thom certainly has been well-connected in his career," said Marvin J. Girouard, chairman and CEO of the Fort Worth-based chain. "He's done some things that we think will really play well into the type of merchandizing and advertising that we're going to."
The Bravo channel's "Queer Eye" features five gay men helping straight men transform their style from slovenly to chic in categories including fashion, grooming, interior design, food and wine and culture. Filicia is the "design doctor."
The Pier 1 Imports ads will show Filicia helping customers find decorative furnishings that reflect their personal style. He replaces actress Alley, who for three years was the company's celebrity spokeswoman.
"Is there risk involved in big change? Absolutely," said Girouard, who has worked for the company since 1975. "But there's much more risk involved in not changing things."
Filicia was named one of America's top designers by House Beautiful and owns the New York design company Thom Filicia Inc. He said he uses Pier 1 items in his designs, so he had no problem signing up as a pitchman for a year.
"There's so much personality in their pieces," Filicia said. "This is a store where you can really express yourself."
Filicia's sexuality will likely be a non-issue with most Pier 1 customers, one analyst said.
"The 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' has been pretty successful, so that takes the pressure off Pier 1," said Thomas Cline, associate professor of marketing at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.
Pier 1 started in 1962 as a single store in California. The company moved to Fort Worth in 1966 and now boasts more than $1.7 billion in sales and more than 1,200 stores in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
"Thom Filicia is a bold move, but one that makes sense given his credibility as a designer and the popularity of the show he is on now," said Laura Richardson, an analyst in equity research at Adams, Harkness & Hill.

Memories

I was reading a post that <a href="http://www.adelle.net/archives/001940.php#001940">Adelle</a> wrote about the cartoon Jem. Apparently, there will be a Jem dvd coming out at the end of the month. Now, Jem wasn't my cup of tea. I preferred the older stuff like <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/ccmm1.php" onclick="window.open'http://www.katespot.com/archives/ccmm1.php','popup','width=564,height=342,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">these guys</a> with bad guys like <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/ccmm.php" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/ccmm.php','popup','width=585,height=348,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">this</a>. Who can forget classic cartoons like <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/tj.php" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/tj.php','popup','width=568,height=388,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Tom and Jerry</a>, <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/ud.php" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/ud.php','popup','width=512,height=384,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Underdog</a> and many others... Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willie, Huckleberry Hound, (bing bing BING) Ricochet Rabbit, Bugs Bunny and all the Looney Tunes gang...
I miss the old cartoons. I think I am going to shop for some dvds..

The new Elvis?

<a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=529&ncid=529&e=3&u=/ap/20040308/ap_en_mu/people_william_hung_1">NEW YORK - Who needs "American Idol"? William Hung doesn't ? he already has a recording contract. </a>

The singer, who became a fan favorite ? but not a judges' favorite ? during open auditions for the Fox series with his spirited version of Ricky Martin (news)'s "She Bangs," has signed a deal with Fuse Music Network and Koch Records.

His debut album, tentatively titled "The True Idol," is scheduled for release April 6, it was announced Monday. It will contain "She Bangs," along with another Martin hit, "Shake Your Bon Bon," and a cover of Elton John (news)'s "Rocket Man," which Hung sang recently on "The Ellen DeGeneres (news) Show."

And for those of you hankering for more Hung, the disc will include a 40-minute DVD with behind-the-scenes footage from his studio recording sessions and fan questions and answers.

"He may not be the next American Idol, but he is definitely a star and inspiration to everyone who sings in the shower," said Marc Juris, president of Fuse, which will exclusively air his "She Bangs" video.

Koch Records general manager Alan Grunblatt was even more effusive: "He is the new Elvis!"

Hung, a 21-year-old Hong Kong native and civil engineering student at the University of California, Berkeley, has inspired fan clubs and Web sites that sing his praises.

Meanwhile, back at "American Idol," eight of the 12 finalists have been chosen. The remaining four will be announced this week when "wild card" singers ? those who didn't get enough votes the first time ? come back for a second chance.

Bummer

<a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040308/ap_en_mo/tv_sex_and_the_city_2">ASPEN, Colo. - Don't expect a "Sex and the City" movie, said the TV series' executive producer, Michael Patrick King</a>.

"Nothing we did in the series was altered to save something for the movie," King said at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival.

"This is exactly the way we wanted to end the series," he said Friday. "We're proud of what we did."

The HBO series, which aired its last new episode Feb. 22, will live on in syndication. That pleases star Sarah Jessica Parker (news), even if the episodes are toned down for a broader audience.

"I am not sad about a larger audience," said Parker, who played columnist Carrie Bradshaw. "Part of me is happy that people who could not afford HBO" will now have the opportunity to meet the four women whose love lives were chronicled on the show.

"We joke there will be no Samantha" after the censors have their way, writer Cindy Chupak said of the free-spirited character played by Kim Cattrall.

Parker, King, Chupak and the show's five other writers appeared at the comedy festival, which ended Sunday.

The writers, all women, described how their real-life experiences made their way into the scripts. In the sanctity of the writers' room, they discussed their dates and relationships.

"Very often that bleeds into story building," said writer Elisa Zuritsky.

Some of the writers said they share the characters' love of expensive shoes. Amy B. Harris acknowledged she has 50 to 75 pairs; Jenny Bicks' collection consists of about 30 pairs.

And Parker's shoe wardrobe? "I can't talk about it," she said with a laugh.
