A Post! A Post!
Be sure to read my entry over on NJ Moms Blog where I am also a contributor.
It's hard to write about not-so-good things that happen to your children. ::sigh::

Grrrrrrrrrrr
I had a post in my drafts section... or so I thought. It's gone.
Crap.
So, you may be a bit curious as to what may be going on at the Casa de Katespot. It seems like *everything* is constantly going on in my house. Here's a sneak peek of this week's schedule:
Monday: Volleyball for Eldest. I worked from 1030-130. Youngest had a playdate from 415-6pm.
Tuesday: 815am recorder lessons before school for Youngest, Horseback Riding lessons for Eldest. AM doc appointment for me.
Wednesday: Eldest has afterschool program.
Thursday: 815am recorder lessons before school and afterschool Jazzercize for Youngest, GS Leader meeting for me
Friday: I am watching a friend's daughter for the morning, GS meeting for Eldest from 2pm - 6pm then a volleyball game at 745pm. Youngest has a school dance to attend with Husband at 6pm.
Saturday: We will be visited by Liz and her lovely kids. Her daughter Thing 2 and Eldest get on SO very well as do Youngest and her youngest Mini-Me.
I can't WAIT for Saturday! We've visited before and I just know this time will be even more fun. I hope the weather behaves so we can visit the beach.
I bet you wish you were here too!
And, as a reward for anyone who actually made it to the bottom of this post, here's a funny video clip that I found in my archives. It always makes me laugh.

Attention Jersey Bloggers!
Where will you be on April 5th?
Hopefully attending the SPRING BLOG FEST EAST.
Fausta and Jim have arranged another Jersey blogmeet. There will be good peeps and, if it's half as fun as the last blogmeet, you can damn well bet it will be a good time.

600K mark
I just checked my stats and saw that I am going to be hitting the 600k mark sometime soon. How exciting! Right now I am at 599,069. I will have to keep a close eye and see who will be the lucky person who hits 600k.

Back up and running again
Well, the bots have been busy attempting to crash my site. If anyone tried to access this blog the past 24 hours, there was nothing to see but a lovely 404 page. My hosting company got me back on track - thank you Hostito!
Of course, I had SO much that I wanted to write yesterday, INCLUDING a post about Eldest turning 11. Lordy, my baby is eleven! She got some great gifts and had a fantastic day and much fun was had by all.
I'm going to wipe out some spam so I'll catch you all later!

Take Two
Ok, I just had an entire entry typed up and managed to delete all of it. Needless to say, I'm now annoyed...
Let's see, what the hell did I write about?
Life is good, I can't complain. Well, I can complain but who the hell wants to listen to that? The house and home improvements are coming along, slowly, but surely. That rainstorm we had last Friday (the 15th) really threw a big old monkey wrench in our plans. Luckily, we only had to dedicate about two weekends of work in order to rectify the problems. We did lose the motor on our pool pump which sucks because we can't close the pool without it. Of course, there are no pumps available in our area so we will have to purchase a new one (of course!) online. We were initially thinking "Just screw it" and closing the pool anyway. But I knew that in the spring, Husband and I would be pissed we didn't close the pool properly.
The girls are doing well in school. Youngestloves first grade and is doing very well in her reading levels. [Mommy Bragging Ahead] She's at the top of the class in reading and math! [/brag] I'm so pleased that she's really picked up a love for reading. Husband and I were pretty concerned about it last year because she was so obsessed with her GameBoy. But, once we really got her some books that she was interested in reading, BOOM! Her reading and comprehension levels are just fantastic.
Eldest, well, she's just realizing how much more difficult fifth grade is compared to fourth grade. Poor kid, nothing like a little reality check. She gets a decent amount of homework and, even though it takes her some time because she fusses over it, she does complete it. She does like both her teachers and I am very happy that both of the teachers don't put up with any nonsense. Forgot your homework? Lunch detention. Forget it three times? After school detention. Needless to say, Eldest gets her work finished! I think if she got detention, she would lose her mind. LOL.
There's quite a few medical issues going on within my extended families. Any spare thoughts/prayers would truly be appreciated.
I guess I am going to wrap this up for now. Have a great day..

Something fun
I *just* discovered Citizen Mom while perusing the Carnival of NJ Bloggers. She mentioned the Blow Monkeys and linked to one of my most favorite 80's tune - Digging Your Scene. Once I relived my sophmore year in the *lovely* Wall High School, I did a quick search for my true loves - Duran Duran. Look at all those videos! You know, I was planning on marrying Simon LeBon (stop laughing!). Lordy, I had a major crush!
I'm in HEAVEN!

So much for the resolution
I just can't keep up! Life has got to slow wayyyyy down.
:::deep breath:::
Ok, I feel a little better now. Still have a wicked cold but even that's starting to clear up and I am able to sleep a little better at night. At least it doesn't feel like my head is going to explode. Urgh.
I'm trying to be a little more organized as well. I'm running two PTA events - one of which is next Friday and the next is the second Friday in February. ::crossing fingers:: So far, so good. Both Girl Scout troops are doing fine. The Daisy troop just earned some petals and the Juniors meet tomorrow to work on the Cookie Connection badge.
SPEAKING of cookies ::ahem::, I just want to let all you fantastic readers out there that, once again, the GS cookie sale starts Friday, January 20th. If anyone is interested in buying some cookies, let me know and I'll be more than happy to suck you into the tasty Cookie Collective hook you up. Check 'em out below.

Cookie descriptions are here and they ALL look delicious! I wonder how many Weight Watcher points a box of All Abouts would be?

Resolution
My New Year's resolution was that I would update my blog every day - no matter what.
::looking at calendar::
Hmmm - better late than never, eh?
Things have been JUST a little more hectic than usual. I had car problems yesterday which ended up with me having to rent a car while my car underwent repairs. My choices for an automobile were:
Chevy Malibu - View image
Chrysler 300 - View image
Dodge Magnum - View image
I chose the Magnum - with a hemi engine. MAN, talk about having fun while driving. The girls loved it and wanted me to keep it! Not with the way the price of gasoline is heading. My car was ready to be picked up today so, regretfully, I returned the rental for my five speed Hyundai Santa Fe. I do enjoy driving a car with stick shift. It would be nice if my five speed car had a V-8 and a hemi engine but I'll survive.
I've been planning PTA Fun Nights, Girl Scouts, gymnastics, classroom activities, busy busy busy... I need a clone, or two. I'm in the process of cleaning up Christmas, the house... Everything needs to be put away and I've got to find a place for it all.
Well, I'm off to clean the kitchen. How the hell are all you doing?

I love this! Thank you Enlighten.

Here you go my lovies. I had a lot of fun putting this together. I listed the links in the order I received them. Enjoy!
Carnival XXIII
Bob from eCache shows us that Corzine doesn't care what you think.
The Idiom starts off this week’s Carnival with his entry titled No ID to vote. Makes me a little nervous, especially with the NJ elections rapidly approaching.
Xpatriated Texan states that Christian Liberals [are] ignored.
Hudson Tammany wants to know who is for the Jersey City Rail? Apparently, none so far.
It’s always time for soup. Also, a big congrats to Suzette for being named website of the day on 10/20/2005!
Janet from The Art of Getting By says enough already! Stop the insanity forwards!
Tata reminds us that it’s never too soon or too late to help whether it be stocking up a local food bank, donating to a family in need or helping injured soldiers. What about your old baseball mitts or bats? I bet most people haven’t considered donating gently used sports equipment. Do it - the kids will thank you.
The Contrarian hits up this hostess for a triple post entry –
1. What do Harriet Miers and Caddyshack have in common?
2. He also discussed last week's Notre Dame-USC football game and good sportsmanship.
3. Cannibalistic Catholics?
MyManMisterC is also submitting double posts this week -
1. Lack of manners.
2. Tuesday night poker story at Fume on Bloomfield Ave.
You gotta fish? Down The Shore’s gotta recipe!
A lively discussion going on in Tami’s comments regarding the upcoming gubernatorial election.
I had to snag this from Bridget Unnel because I just cracked up when I read it. Curious about Camel Toads?
Gigglechick is having a rough week with her blog and then, she gets a ticket! I hope next week is better for her.
Philly2Hoboken comments on Man Suits and other fashion don’ts for Men.
Karl’s Corner certainly has Sumpin’ to Ponder when discussing General Motors and their decision to cut back on health benefits for retirees.
Fractals of Change proclaims that “it’s time for a blook tour”. Never heard of a blook? Read all about it here.
Check out the latest chapter of the historic murder mystery set in the internet bubble and rubble.
Countertop Chronicles has a beautifully written post about his day spent in New Jersey.
Steve of The Opinion Mill reminisces when there were five campuses of Rutgers University.
Gil from Virtual Memories is back from his trip to NoLa. Here’s his post and he has pictures to share.
Forrester swiftboating Corzine - Read about it at BlueJersey.
Sluggo Needs a Nap admires the writings of Tina Brown.
Jim from Parkway Reststop has a pretty funny story about his washing machine and I just had to include his hypothetical conversation using BlogSpeak.
Do you have a nice case of the clap? Well, she does and is happy about it!
Sharon wonders about priorities - television or heat?
NJ Conservative weighs in with his observation of a passionless governors race.
Andrew from Drewthrat notices that "It's almost like they don't care about justice and are only interested in staying in power”.
Ken Adams praises his wife for her quick yet sufficient response to a political choice.
Maureen sent me this piece that left me thinking about just how lucky I am in life.
Fred from The Eternal Golden Braid writes about Toyenbee (think 2001:A Space Odyssey) in here and here.
Professor Kim has a detailed explanation about why she’s voting for Corzine.
Fausta shares a very touching letter from a soldier in Iraq.
I found this very funny entry over at Coffeegrounds: How To Run For Public Office. I really like the candidate featured.
Jaynee and Denis have a plan for their future.
Nordette researches about “men on the down low” and why some men are angry about it.
The Pink Panther has had a rough past couple of weeks.
Roberto of Dynamo Buzz discusses Corzine’s and Bob “The Torch” Torricelli’s relationship. Voters, pay attention.

Meeting bloggers
::update:: read Liz's recap of yesterdays events
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Liz and her four beautiful children at Holmdel Park.
Now, I had already met Liz at the NJ Blogmeet waaaaay back in April. Let me tell you that Liz really is as funny and charming as she appears on her blog. I wanted to take all her kids home - they were just that awesome. They all were chatting with me and certainly didn't appear to be shy at all! Her son was just so funny - I just wanted to give him a squeeze and her youngest, I just wanted to grab her right up too. Petite and sweet and certainly not shy with five older kids tromping all around her. Eldest and Liz's second eldest daughter are the same age. Both girls are in Girl Scouts, shared several common interests and they hit it off right away. Liz's eldest daughter - I don't know where to even start. She was fantastic with all the children and had a natural way of taking charge without being bossy. I wished she lived closer so I could hire her as a sitter!
We met at the park around 11am. We wandered around into Longstreet Farm, which is part of the park system. It's a working farm that has educational programs that feature the agricultural customs of the 19th century. Very interesting and fun. For more information about the farm, click here. We got to see these mules being hitched up and used for work on the farm. Eldest wanted to pet them but she wasn't allowed because they were being trained as work mules. Eldest was a bit disappointed but she got over it. We saw some chickens and the mules at work. I fell in love with this tree. I hung back to take the picture just as Liz turned around, wondering where the hell I was. In our wanderings around the farm, we observed a young woman who was pregnant. She had the obviously belly but she didn't appear to be pregnant anywhere else on her body (all you moms know what I mean). Liz and I both looked at her, looked at each other and jealously muttered "bitch" at the exact same time. Of course, we both burst out laughing and I just knew that Liz and I were going to be great friends.
After walking the farm, we stopped at the car to grab our lunches so we could eat at the picnic tables. We made a pit stop at the bathrooms where I discovered that one of my HUGE 20oz water bottles had leaked inside my backpack, resulting in a huge wet spot right on my right ass cheek. ::sigh:: Let me tell you, my ass does not need to have any emphasis on it at all. LOL. Once we got to the table, I emptied out the backpack and dumped out the water. The backpack was waterproof so it had collected the water in it. Luckily, my camera and other stuff were ok. We ate and chatted and the kids all finished in about 4 minutes. They ran around while Liz and I chatted some more. We decided to walk over to the playground section and let the kids run for a while. We were so lucky to have chosen a gorgeous day - sunny and slightly windy. Not once bit of humidity. After the playground, we walked over to the lake and I got some cute pictures of the kids there too.
The kids rolling down the hill
The girls and I were invited back to Liz's house to swim by Liz and her children. Of course I said yes. I had planned for that and packed a bag just for the pool. I made plans to follow Liz back to her house. We got back to the cars, loaded up and rolled on out.
When I was backing the car out of the parking space, it felt weird. As I started to drive, I realized that my tire might be low on air and I called Liz on her cell phone. One of her daughters answered and I asked her to ask Liz if we could stop at a gas station on the way. Sure, no problem. Well, about 20 seconds later, Liz pulls into a school parking lot and said she looked at my front tire in her mirror. There was no way that this tire could have made it to a service station.
My spare is mounted underneath my car. It took me and Liz a few minutes to figure out just how to get it down. I pulled out my jack and the parts and I was ready to unscrew the bolt to release the tire. As you can see, I was able to accomplish that feat. I was even able to jack the car up even though my small jack sucked. Ugh. But, I could not remove those damn lugnuts. COULD NOT. Now, I'm no damn skinny minnie but those damn lugnuts weren't coming off without the use of a drill. Just when I was getting all pissed off and even sweatier, I realized that I had roadside assistance from Hyundai. Booyah! I called and the young lady was very nice. She was asking me all kinds of questions aboutt my location and I had NO clue where I was. All I could tell her was that I was near the Holmdel police station. She called the police station and got the name of the road for me. When she called me back (thank God for cell phones), she said a truck would be out within 20 minutes.
Liz brought all six kids to the field at the school while we were waiting for the truck. I sat in the car, all pissed off and sweaty. But, I must admit, true to their word, the truck did show up in about 20 minutes. This is the guy that changed the tire. Do you think he knew that I took his picture? Another gratuitious tire shot. I was joking with Liz, saying that when people hang out with me, I can always show them a good time. When the guy finsihed up, I tipped him $10 and we were all on our merry way to Liz's house.
We get there, have a drink and the kids have changde into their bathing suits. We were off to the pool. The kids all splashed around while Liz and I sat on the deck and did nothing but talk. We had a blast! We both were jonesing for a double choclate frappacino from Starbucks. We never got one though. Next time - and it's my treat Liz!
The girls and I finally left by 5pm. I realized we were becoming the guests who never leave. We all hugged goodbye and the girls and I hit the road. The parkway was jammed - ugh - damn rush hour. We finally made it home by 630pm.
All in all, besides the tire mishap, it was a fantastic day. I hope we can all meet up again soon. And, if you made it all the way to the end of this entry, congratulations!

Blog it Forward
Ok - Buzz has declared today Blog It Forward Day.
The rules are really simple. All you have to do is pick someone (or sometwo or somethree) from your blogroll and post (on your site) just what makes them linkworthy. I mean, there's obviously a reason that you allow them to take up that valuable real estate on your site, right? But who do you pick?
My three picks for the day are:
1. Christina of Feisty Repartee. She's just fantastic. I had stumbled on her blog accidentally and was immediately hooked. She is a wonderful person. She writes brilliant posts, she's a wonderful mother, and is just full of southern charm. I have so much fun in our emails or phone chats. I am proud to call her my friend.
2. Wacky Wendi. How can you not love a person like Wendi? We've been friends for over eight years. We belonged to an email loop that was started way back when AOL was king. I've never met her in person but I can assure you that she is incredible. She's an awesome Mom and wife. She's had some tough blows the past couple years but she is one helluva fighter and I am so happy for her. {{{hugs}}}
3. Jim - of Parkway Rest Stop. I can't say enough wonderful things about him. He is charming and intelligent, plays a mean guitar, and also has a wonderful wife and a very sweet daughter (who also blogs). Oh, he can party too. Oh yeah. It's too bad he lives up in North Jersey. Perhaps I can coax him into hosting a summer bash..??

Oops
Forgot to post yesteday!
The girls are really feeling the effects of allergy season. POor Eldest - I think it hit her the hardest. She is just miserable. Of course, she's sniffling and hacking but won't spit out all crap in her throat. She just keeps sniffling. ARGH. Makes me crazy. I wish I had a big kid sized snot sucker for her nose.

Anyway, the good news - the architect was here yesterday. Husband gave him the plans he drew up and the architect was pretty impressed. Husband did a great job drawing up the specs by hand. Now, all I am waiting on is Di*tech. They'd better hurry up with my MONEY.
We have an appointment at 10am with Youngest's principal to discuss what we need to do with Youngestand her food allergies. We also have an appointment with the vet today for Darla. She's not doing that well. She is 16 years old and has lost some weight. She's becoming very picky about her food and she's not drinking water from her bowl. She will drink from a little cup of water so we've been doing that. I hope she's ok.
Time to run - catch you all later!

If I was on TV
The charming and fabulous Puffy ponders these questions:
If you were famous and invited onto a TV talk show (Letterman, Late Late with Craig, Ellen, Leno etc) what would:
1. You want as the music to be playing for you as you appear from behind the screen and why?
2. What would you wear and why?
3. What one question would you want them to ask, why and what would your answer be?
1. I think I'd want "Maybe Katie" by Barenaked Ladies or "Rio" by Duran Duran. I love those songs.
2. Hmm, probably something elegant and black. Oh, lots of jewelry too. I love emeralds... diamonds too. Hey, I like the simple things in life.
3. I'd love for the interviewer to lean over and dramatically ask me "Are you happy?" I would pause, smile and say "Absolutely. I have the most incredible man for my husband and beautiful, healthy children. I'm happy and lucky."

Day of Random
(found at Puffy's blog)
Day of Random Rules
1. Post a single word comment in the thread above. Post ONLY one word and it is to be the first word that comes into your mind after reading the previously posted word.
2. Post a NEW entry on your blog containing a single word (any word you like) and get your readers to respond in the same way.
3. People can post more than one comment on a blog - but not in succession, someone else must have posted since their last.
4. Sit back and watch the randomness happen and see what words inspire what words.
5. Really, that is it... but it could be fun - you never know!

I knew it
The farookinly fantastic Jim pegged me for this meme that's been floating around for the past few days.
If I could be a chef - I would be able to adapt any recipe so Youngestwould be able to eat it.
If I could be TV-Chat Show host - I'd be doing what I do best.. chatting!
If I could be a back-up dancer - I would SO want to work with Duran Duran! What can I say? I love them.
If I could be a scientist - I'd work until I found a cure for cancer.
If I could be an innkeeper - I would take in all those in need of a place to live.
Now it’s my turn to share the fun.
What follows is a list of different occupations. You must select at least five of them. You may add more if you like to your list before you pass it on (after you select five of the items as it was passed to you).
Of the five you selected, you are to finish each phrase with what you would do as a member of that profession. Then pass it on to three other bloggers.
Here's that list:
If I could be a scientist...
If I could be a farmer...
If I could be a musician...
If I could be a doctor...
If I could be a painter...
If I could be a gardener...
If I could be a missionary...
If I could be a chef...
If I could be an architect...
If I could be a linguist...
If I could be a psychologist...
If I could be a librarian...
If I could be an athlete...
If I could be a lawyer...
If I could be an innkeeper...
If I could be a professor...
If I could be a writer...
If I could be a backup dancer...
If I could be a llama-rider...
If I could be a bonnie pirate...
If I could be a midget stripper...
If I could be a proctologist...
IIf I could be a TV-Chat Show host...
If I could be an actor...
If I could be a judge...
If I could be a Jedi...
If I could be a mob boss...
I'm going to pass this along to three women that I deeply admire: Sooz, Dana, and Dell. I look forward to reading their responses.

My first Diva topic!
Miz Christina and the other lovely demystifying divas graciously offered me the chance to discuss this week's topic:
"Differences between men and women when getting dressed in the morning"
Well, since I haven't had the opportunity to observe other men and women, I can only explain the differences between myself and Husband.
I am not a morning person. Never have been. Husband, on the other hand, can get out of bed and get ready without too many problems.
Husband's alarm usually goes off at 6am with a a horrible beeping sound, like a truck is backing up in our bedroom. He staggers into the bathroom to shower while I doze. After his shower, he comes back into the bedroom to dress. Husband is a jeans man. He is not required to dress up for work. So, he usually wears flannels in the winters and, in the warmer months, either button downs or polos shirts. In the shoe department, it's usually loafers or work boots. That's it. I think it takes him five minutes to pick out his clothes and get dressed. He wears whatever is clean and hanging in the closet.
Since I do not have to leave the house to go to work, my morning routine is pretty simple. I find that I do push the envelope when it comes to actually getting out of bed. I will lay in bed until the very last possible moment. This does affect my clothing choice. If I need to leap out of bed and rush around because we are going to be late getting Eldest to school, yes, I will most likely look like a freak. Sweats, a tee shirt, socks and my loafers. Oh yeah - a walking fashion no no. At least I change out of my pajamas.
My usual mom uniform consists of jeans and collared shirts. In the summer, it's shorts and polo shirts. I love polo shirts. I am a preppy at heart. In the morning, I find that I can take a lot of time picking out clothes to wear. I push hangers back and forth, looking for just the right shirt for the day. I choose colors based on my mood. Of course, undergarments are chosen based on the type of shirt that was selected. Can't have one's bra shine through, can we ladies? Once I finally get the outfit picked and I am dressed, then it's time to pick out shoes.
I have quite a few pairs of shoes. I've scaled back and I think I am down to about 40 pairs of shoes and 6 pairs of sneakers. I still have shoes from when I was working before Eldest was born. I can't bear to get rid of them as they are still good shoes. I usually have 5 or 6 pairs in a concstant rotation. Like I said earlier, I am a prep so I am usually in black loafers. Hey, black matches everything, right? I do love red and I wear my red slides in the summer. In winter, I wear my red snow boots. I don't get too colorful in my shoe selections. Purses - hell yeah - but not shoes. I don't change my bags every day. If I did, I'd never make it anywhere on time.
I am looking forward to reading response from the Divas and members of the Men's Club regarding this week's topic.

Jawja Bloggers Part Deux
I just received my second phone call from Jeckyl. I spoke with Christina, the mysterious Dax Montana, the punchmaster Velociman, a very happy sounding Key Monroe then back with Christina again.
Definitely a lot of fun going on down in Georgia!

Jawja Blogmeet
I just got a phone call from Jim who is currently attending the Display of Drunken Debauchery of Egomaniacal Bloggers Georgia Writers (Writers’?) Workshop. He passed me over to the ever adorable Miss Christina who sounded like she was having a good time. I was then passed over to Sadie. We chatted for a bit then she handed me back to Christina. We had a great little chat and then she said she was passing the phone to a tall, dark and handsome gentleman. I just knew it would be the mysterious man we call Zonker. Completely charming. I've chatted with him before and we always have some laughs. He told me he was passing the phone to someone. When I asked him which blogger, he said I had to guess. The next thing I hear is this amazingly appealing voice with a southern accent say "Are you naked?". Who else could it be but Rob of Gut Rumbles fame! He was extremely engaging and we had a very nice conversation. Apparently, everyone there is having a great time. Judging from all the laughing and background noises - it sure sounded like it!
I hope I get another phone call!

I've been interviewed
The lovely and charming KB gave me these five questions to answer:
1) Name one super power that you wish you had.
2) Any bad habits you have that you are ashamed of, and if you answer YES
you have to tell what it is?
3) Who is your best friend and what drew you to them?
4) If someone else paid for it where you go on vacation?
5) Name one thing that you know you want but will never have.
1. Healing powers - no one would have to be sick or die.
2. I bite my nails and pick at my cuticles. It makes me crazy. I hate it.
3. I actually have several best friends. I've known my friend Stacey since I was eight. We have drifted apart. She lives in Alabama and I live in Jersey so we don't see each other very much. We do talk occasionally and when we do, we pick up right from where we left off. ANother best friend is Liz. She lives five minutes away and we have SO much fun. We literally look like Mutt and Jeff. She's taller and slim. Me - well, short and fat. We talk on the phone ALL the time, our children play together.. it's just comfortable. We clicked together pretty quickly and we've been great friends for almost three years.
4. Mmm - an all paid vacation? I'd probably go to Disney with the family. If it was just me and Husband - maybe somewhere out west. I've never been over there.
5. More time.

As I was surfing my blogroll earlier today, I noticed that one blog that I read quite frequently, due to numerous daily updates, had removed me from their linkage. I wasn't quite sure what to think. Did I take it personally? No, but I have to admit I was surprised. I know a lot of blogs are all about the stats. Sure, I check my stats. Hell, I look at them all the time. I love comments and trackbacks. Who doesn't?

Da Jersey Blogmeet Update
Ok gang - I know you all have been waiting with baited breath. Thanks to the incredible Jim at ParkwayRestStop, there is a new date!
Because the date originally scheduled for Da Jersey Blogmeet fell on Easter weekend, we decided to move the date of the event to Saturday, April 2, 2005.
The starting time has yet to be finalized (current thinking is sixish).
It will be held at the American Legion in Union, New Jersey.
The price ($30.00 per person) includes an open bar and a hot and cold buffet. All proceeds will benefit the American Legion.
Those interested in attending have two alternatives. You can send Jim an e-mail, and he will send you his snail mail address so that you can forward a check, or you can send me the money by PayPal.
The room has a limited capacity (something like fifty people), so get your money in early, lest you be left out in da cold.

Jersey BlogFest
UPDATE
I've emailed Jim about a new date. Apparently, we picked Easter weekend for the blog meet. Stay tuned for a new date.
Thanks to Jim, it looks like this might actually happen! I know it will be a lot of fun. I am *so* there. How about you?
The Date: The working date is March 26, 2005
The Time: Starting time is to be determined. It will be over when the last person leaves.
The Place: The American Legion Lounge in Union, New Jersey, which serves as the meeting place for the Usual Suspects, about whom much has been written here.
The Details: Current plans call for an open bar and catered food. Therefore, a headcount and advance payment will be necessary. (The working figure at this moment is $30-35 per person).
Of course, non-Jersey Bloggers are also invited.
If you would be interested in attending such an event, please leave a comment here or on Jim’s site and we’ll go from there, including providing a list of hotels/motels in the area.
P.S. If you have a guitar, please feel free to bring it, provided you’re willing to play it.

COR
Here are two delicious (if I do say so myself!) chocolate cake and icing recipes I submitted to <a href="http://www.thedonovan.com/beth/archives/cat_recipe_carnival.html#002579">Beth's Carnival of the Recipes</a>. They are completely safe for O and she **loves** them. So does everyone else.
Enjoy!
Chocolate Cake
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
? cup cocoa powder (I use Hersheys)
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups water
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp white vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat over to 350F. Using 100% vegatable shortening, grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat with a spoon or wire whisk just until batter is smooth and ingredients are well-blended.
Pour batter in prepared cake pans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes, or until a wooden pick cinserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pans 10 minutes before turning out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frost.
Makes one 9-inch round double layer cake.
Chocolate Frosting
? cup dairy free margarine, room temperature
2 ? tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
? cup cocoa powder (Hersheys unsweetened)
2 ? tbsp water
2 ? cups powdered sugar
Place margarine, honey and vanilla in mixing bowl. Sift cocoa into this bowl. Using electric beaters at low speed, cream these ingredients together. Add water and sift powdered sugar into mixture. Beat with electric beaters on medium speed until well mixed.

7000
Woohoo! I just hit 7000 comments! Thanks <a href="http://www.ailurophile.com/karen/"target=_blank>Karen</a>! That does not include BOB and his damn spam either.
The girls and I hit the library this morning. There was some sort of celebration (prizes, food, crafts) for all the kids that particpated in the summer reading program. M read somewhere around 100 books this summer. Yeah, she likes to read... A LOT. The girls didn't win any of the prizes but they had fun making the crafts. A couple of the little kids (and their parents) were being such dirtbags - ugh. Parents - please control your children, especially in a somewhat small space. I *hate* when children (and adults) just grab stuff.. especially if said child is trying to grab from MY child. I don't ****ing think so buddy. Sit the **** down and ask nicely.
Which reminds me, when P, the girls and I were in Radio Shack last night, the girls were complimented (by both male employees) on being very well behaved. I have to say, even the days that I think the girls are being a pain in the ass, they DO behave in stores. They have excellent manners. Why don't some parents have the same expectations from their own children. I *expect* children to be polite and well mannered. I can get quite sharp with the girls in the troop because I expect them to treat me with respect and not talk to me like I am their buddy on the playground. Don't get me wrong, I adore my girls (all 14 of them - lol) and I will watch them like a hawk but I do not tolerate rudeness or blatant disrespect. Maybe I am tough... but too bad.
Life is tough.

I'm off again.... been a crazy time but I'm having fun meeting new people and visiting new blogs.... I've dipped my pen in <a href="http://solonor.com/archives/002559.html#002559">Solonor's Ink Well.</a> I had some tea over at <a href="http://www.cynicsteaparty.com/my/cynical/ideas/im_moving_again/#trackbacks">The cynic's Tea Party</a> I was really busy busy at <a href="http://www.busymom.net/archives/001425.html#001425">Busy Mom's.</a> Now I'm changing my spots and going to the Depths of Her Brain. She's only 5'2" tall with hair that changes from time to time... located in Michigan and of East Indian heritage.... Can you find me? <a href="http://www.prettypurpleprincess.net">- Dana</a> <a href="http://emmytheangel.blogspot.com/">***I'm at Meeta's Place***</a>

Here I am... stealing more time on a different blog.... the rules are simple.... I've decided that I have never had the fun of "stealing" blogs.... so why not start with now? Actually.... I started calling this <a href="http://www.quirkychick.org/archives/000258.php">a Scavenger Blog Hunt</a>.... but now, I'm on to "<a href="http://solonor.com/archives/002559.html#002559">Finding Dana</a>"... Then off to <a href="http://www.busymom.net/archives/001425.html#001425">STEAL SOME BLOGS</a> and who could forget my <a href="http://www.cynicsteaparty.com/my/cynical/ideas/im_moving_again/#trackbacks">Tea Party</a> who knows where the madness will stop! My idea is if you comment here..... I'll "pop" into your blog and then from those that comment on your blog.... I'll "pop" in one of those blogs.... maybe throughout the week-end..... What do you say? Want to have a blog scavenger hunt? Are you willing to trust me with the keys to your blog for a "moment"?

Did you ever worry about a person who blogs? Someone whom you read all the time? You just get that "feeling" - you know - the one that tells you something just ain't right. What sucks is that the person I am concerned about lives far away from me. There is essentially nothing I can do for him. I don't know what the hell is going on with <a href="http://www.gutrumbles.com/archives/005784.php#005784">Rob</a> but I hope to God things clear up for him soon. He is not himself and I am just really worried about him.

I am going to follow <a href="http://www.buzzstuff.net/archives/002399.php">Buzz's suggestion</a> and play along today. My blog pick is <a href="http://sessex.blogspot.com/">Susan</a> of .::says me::. I have been reading her since I started on Blogger back in December of 2001. I had seen her comments on another blog and I just followed her over to her own blog and I was immediately hooked. We shared a lot of things in common, including the fact that each of our mothers had cancer. I can say that she is one SUPER and genuinely nice person. She has gone through quite a bit this past year with some personal challenges and I am amazed at her strength. She is funny and smart and I am proud to call her friend. I wish she lived closer to me but she lives in Texas! Hopefully, one day we will meet.

Dammit - I had an entire post written and poof. It never published. I had written about being ghosted. It's a Halloween version of ring and rung and leaving a gift behind in a pumpkin. It's usually filled with candy and/or little toys as well as a sign to proudly display on your door as some sort of badge of honor. Then, since you were the lucky recipient of the pumpkin, now YOU get to ghost two other people who haven't been ghosted. Our house got ghosted about two weeks ago. Whoop-de-do. I didn't put the sign up fast enough and we got ghosted again. I refuse to participate in this. In fact, I'd like to smack the crap out of the person who created this game. Maybe I am a grinch but this is a bit over the edge.
