Christmas Eve? ALREADY??
Why am I surprised *every* year when December 24th arrives? Probably because I am about four times busier than my normally hectic schedule.
I have to add this commercial in at this point. I love the Mom's character and how she says "Yay memories". That's our new catchphrase around here.
Yay memories!
We had a major mishap last night which now involves the girls and I going to the mall (THE MALL!) on Christmas Eve. Why? Well, SOMEone aka Youngest got in trouble last night and was sent to her room for the night. She has now started with yelling at us and stomping when she's angry. Yeah - that doesn't fly with me at all. Ever. So, she stomped her angry butt down the hallway while crying. Loudly. A few minutes later, Husband was walking down the hallway when he hears a small voice call out "Daddy?"
He opens Youngest's door and sees her standing there - holding her glasses.. in two hands. In her anger, she manhandled her glasses off her face and she snapped the arm right off the frame.
Let me tell you, honestly, I was out of my mind furious. Husband was right there with me. I won't get into full details but suffice to say that it is all resolved and the girls and I will be driving to Lenscrafters sometime this morning. Oh frickin' joy. Yay memories!
So, let me take the time to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas... a Happy Chanukah.. a very happy holidays.

At least I have a job
I've been getting a lot of calls to work in the office at some of the local schools.. and I've been taking as many as possible. I can certainly use the money - not that it pays great or anything - but it's definitely a foot in the door. I'd love to be able to snag a job within the district. But, like the title of this post says, at least I *have* a job.
In other news, I've been busy working on some "homemade" gifts for some family members. That's about all I can discuss about that..for now. I've been all over Facebook too. What fun! If you are on Facebook and want to friend me, just leave me a comment. I don't have my blog tied into Facebook because I know some "real life" people who don't know about KateSpot.
I'm just blathering.. so tired.. must. stay. awake.
:::yawn:::
Nahhhh. I'm off to bed. G'nite.

Hungry at the Holidays
I am honored to be asked to blog for this wonderful and most important cause. Food banks all across New Jersey are in deep trouble. They need your help and they need it NOW.
Our church runs a very successful food bank. We get lots of donations from the community, the county, Girl and Boy Scouts, and businesses. There has been such a strong demand for food - people have lost their jobs. They shouldn't have to go hungry... not in America. No way. JerseyBites has organized over 100 bloggers - mommy bloggers, political bloggers, foodie bloggers to help spread the word about this most important campaign.
My girls, ages 12 and 8, are very aware of the importance of giving back. We donate whatever we can, whenever we can. A lot of the times, they start pulling food out of my cabinets, asking if they can donate that particular item. How can I say no?
So, please, do what you can. ANY little bit will help. You CAN make a difference.
1. Make a monetary contribution: Visit http://www.njfoodbank.org/.
2. Donate food: Drop off a bag of food at your local food pantry.
3. Organize a food drive: We can help explain the logistics of starting a food drive. Just call 908-355-FOOD.
4. Help "Check Out Hunger:" Look for the "Check Out Hunger" coupons at your local supermarket and donate. No donation is too small!

Every few days...
Well - so I blog every few days or so. Mom's procedure went smoothly and she's feeling fine. Thanks for the supportive emails and comments!
Not too much to report here. I've got to run Youngest's Girl Scout meeting today. We're making ornaments with styrofoam balls and sequins. Should be lots of fun - I hope. It will defintely keep them still!
Off for now - tata until later.

Hospital Visit
Today Mom is having her portacath removed. Hopefully, it won't be a long procedure for her. She doesn't do too well when she goes under general anesthesia. So, I will be stationed at the day stay section of the local hospital, updating via Facebook.
In other strange and interesting news, I was looking back over my old archives and realized that I have been blogging since 12/9/01!! Holy crap - seven years!?! Gotta give a big shout-out of thanks to Erin aka Gigglechick who encouraged me to start blathering ...err.. blogging. Thanks babe!

150 choices and still not quite right
I'm busy selecting songs for Youngest's Brownie troop to sing on Saturday at our town's annual holiday shop. We'll be on stage for about 30 minutes, singing traditional Christmas songs. Do you know just how hard it is to find a version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" that isn't weird? Every "artist" puts their own spin on the song but it's such a pain in the ASS for little kids to sing. There are 150 versions of "Santa Claus". Seriously. Go look on iTunes if you don't believe me.
December 3rd and I'm stressing over Christmas songs! GAH!
