Fun and Friends
The charming and most lovely Liz and I planned to get our families together over a month ago. With six childrens' schedules varying from school, sports, civic, and all other assorted activities, things must be planned in advance. There are no spur of the moment events happening. That is almost unthinkable.
Liz and her family arrived at my home around noon. Turns out that The Boy stayed home with her husband Garth (not his real name) to work on manly sort of things. Can't say I blame him as he would have been surrounded by seven females. Heck, some days I don't want to be around my own two girls!
We chatted for almost an hour while our girls all disappeared to the beedrooms to play. It was an absolutely gorgeous day - clear and sunny. Liz and I decided to visit Long Beach Island (LBI), picnic on the beach, and collect shells. I dug out three kites to play with too. We loaded up Liz's van and we were off. Can you say road trip?
I live about 15 minutes from the beach. We were lucky - we parked right in Ship Bottom and dragged all of our stuff, including the five girls, and hauled all the crap to the beach.
It was beautiful. See for yourself.
The girls immediately headed for the jetty. There were a lot of shells. I mean - LOTS - of shells.
We even found sand dollars - quite a few of them. I have never found sand dollars on the Jersey shoreline.

We spent about two hours on the beach, trying not to get wet as the ocean water was about 45-40 degrees. It was so cold it burned! The girls didn't seems to have as much as a problem as Liz and I. We had to head back to the mainland once Mini-Me got soaked by a rouge wave.

Liz stopped for gas and I introduced her to the yummy deliciousness of Wawa's Vanilla Lattes. Once we got back to my house, the girls cleaned off and once again, disappeared off to play. Liz and I settled down to talk. Things were nice and relaxed until we heard the dulcet tones of "Turkey In The Straw". Mini-Me and Youngest immediately appeared out of thin air with Eldest and Thing 2 right behind them. As soon as Liz and I agreed to a treat, they flew out of my house and headed right to the road to start frantically waving down the ice cream man woman. They chose their treats and ran off the the back yard.
Once it was time to leave, we all said our goodbyes, hugged, and waved to the gang of This Full House as they drove down our street. We always have such fun together - I can't wait for our next visit!

I didn't know you were writing for NJMB! I write for Chicago Moms Blog! Same people set it up. It's a small world.
Yeah. I could never collect seashells at Lake Michigan because there aren't any. I might be able to fetch a dirty syringe or a used diaper, though. Ack!
