Inner Flame
The girls and I attended church this past Sunday. During the sermon, my pastor used this quote:
Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light. (Albert Schweitzer)
Wow. Just wow.

Shopping Surprise
I had to run over to WallyMart this morning. Imagine my complete surprise when I walked in and saw several racks of OP brand clothing.

Very cool indeed. I picked up some shirts and couple pairs of shorts for Eldest.
It's good to be her.

This is my nightmare
An eighth-grader was charged with wanton endangerment after allegedly putting crumbled peanut butter cookies in the lunchbox of another student with a severe allergy to peanuts.
The allergic student, also an eighth-grader, did not eat the cookies and did not suffer a reaction.
Fayette County public schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said the incident occurred Thursday on the Morton Middle School running track, where students had gone to eat lunch and enjoy the warm weather.
As the students neared the end of their lunchtime, a student was seen putting the crumbled cookies in the allergic student's lunchbox, she said.
It was well known the other student suffered from severe peanut allergies, Deffendall said. There was no known history of problems between the two 13-year-old students, she said.
After an investigation, the student was arrested on a felony wanton endangerment charge and has been removed from the school, Deffendall said.
I hope to God that this little bastard student is expelled. I am terrified that Youngest (who has life-threatening food allergies) could have some problems further down the road. In fact, this year has been most difficult for her. In the beginning of the school year, one of her classmates waved a peanut butter sandwich at her, taunting her. Another waved a cheese sandwich at her. Of course, I spoke to the teacher and, on each occasion, she had the students apologize to Youngest.
But, it made me so very angry. It's not her fault she has these allergies. I can see that this year has been more difficult for her. Thankfully, she is quite the social butterfly and a lot of kids still want to hang out with her. Those are the ones that are willing to not eat a PB&J sandwich or peanut butter crackers while sitting next to her.
::sigh::
Poor kid.

A Little Visitor
I had to drive Youngest to school this morning. She had a recorder lesson before school started. God bless the music teacher. She must go home and slam back tequila shots every night.
Once I got home, I needed to bring my recycling cans - all three of them - to the street. Occasionally, we forget to bring the cans to the street so all three cans were pretty full. Now, we have a lot of nature racing around the yard (squirrels, chipmunks, birds) so I am not that freaked out with them running past me. At night, well, that's a whole different ball game. WHile Husband was out smoking late one evening, he got a late night visit from a possum (ewww!) and the occasional neighborhood dogs that escape their yards.
As I moved one of the cans, something rustled the grass for a moment then stopped. Upon closer investigation, I discovered this little guy:
Luckily, I had my cellphone and I snapped a few pictures.
He tried to hide
But, I found him again
I think I scared him so this was my last picture before he hid behind our shed
He was definitely a little guy and so very cute. I was able to pet him once when he thought he was completely hidden (see photo above with his bunny bus sticking out)
I'm off to my Mom's place for a visit. Catch ya later!

Grrrrrrrrrrr
I had a post in my drafts section... or so I thought. It's gone.
Crap.
So, you may be a bit curious as to what may be going on at the Casa de Katespot. It seems like *everything* is constantly going on in my house. Here's a sneak peek of this week's schedule:
Monday: Volleyball for Eldest. I worked from 1030-130. Youngest had a playdate from 415-6pm.
Tuesday: 815am recorder lessons before school for Youngest, Horseback Riding lessons for Eldest. AM doc appointment for me.
Wednesday: Eldest has afterschool program.
Thursday: 815am recorder lessons before school and afterschool Jazzercize for Youngest, GS Leader meeting for me
Friday: I am watching a friend's daughter for the morning, GS meeting for Eldest from 2pm - 6pm then a volleyball game at 745pm. Youngest has a school dance to attend with Husband at 6pm.
Saturday: We will be visited by Liz and her lovely kids. Her daughter Thing 2 and Eldest get on SO very well as do Youngest and her youngest Mini-Me.
I can't WAIT for Saturday! We've visited before and I just know this time will be even more fun. I hope the weather behaves so we can visit the beach.
I bet you wish you were here too!
And, as a reward for anyone who actually made it to the bottom of this post, here's a funny video clip that I found in my archives. It always makes me laugh.

MARRIED LIFE
A couple had only been married for two weeks and the husband, although very much in love, couldn't wait to go out on the town and party with his old buddies.
So, he said to his new wife, "Honey, I'll be right back." "Where are you going, Coochy Coo?" asked the wife. "I'm going to the bar, Pretty Face," he answered. "I'm going to have a beer." The wife said, "You want a beer, my love?" She opened the door to the refrigerator and showed him 25 different kinds of beer, brands from 12 different
countries: Germany, Holland , Japan , India , etc.
The husband didn't know what to do, and the only thing that he cou ld think of saying was, "Yes, Lollipop... but at the bar.. You know.. they have frozen glasses... " He didn't get to finish the sentence, because the wife interrupted him by saying, "You want a frozen glass, Puppy Face?" She took a huge beer mug out of the freezer, so frozen that she was getting chills just holding it.
The husband, looking a bit pale, said, "Yes, Tootsie Roll, but at the bar they have those hors d'oeuvres that are really delicious... I won't be long. I'll be! right back. I promise. OK?" "You want hors d'oeuvres, Poochie Pooh?" She opened the oven and took out 5 dishes of different hors d'oeuvres: chicken wings, pigs in blankets , mushroom caps, and little quiches.
"But my sweet honey... at the bar you know there's swearing, dirty words and all that..."
"You want dirty words, Cutie Pie? LISTEN UP CHICKEN SHIT! SIT YOUR ASS DOWN, SHUT THE HELL UP, DRINK YOUR BEER IN YOUR DAMN FROZEN MUG AND EAT YOUR HORS D'OEUVRES BECAUSE YOUR MARRIED ASS ISN'T GOING TO A DAMNED BAR! THAT SHIT IS OVER! GOT IT, JACKASS?" and....they lived happily ever after. Isn't that a sweet story?
The End

Hump Day
Thank you so much for all of your kind wishes about Mom. She is doing fine. The surgeon removed the cyst/growth and it is currently on its way to be diagnosed.
As for me, well, it's the usual insanity around here. Eldest is currently being a hormonal pain in my butt - all this weeping and yelling. She is truly a joy to spend time with lately. Youngest will be getting a lot of dental work done. We had spacers

put in her mouth yesterday and on Thursday, she will be getting her palate expander.

I remember getting spacers before I got braces.. and they were really uncomfortable. I mean, really REALLY uncomfortable. Think about a thick piece of steak stuck between two of your back teeth and you are unable to remove it, no matter how much it makes you crazy.
Yeah, it still freaks me out thinking about it and I was about 15. I didn't really like my orthodontist - he spoke in this whiny, sorta of quivery old guy voice. And, he always hummed, very badly, to the local elevator musak radio station. OY! But, I have to honestly say that my teeth are still pretty straight. They look a zillion times better from when they were all jacked up when I was a kid.
I am off to shoot more candid pictures for Eldest's school yearbook. That should be a lot of fun! I need (aka WANT) a new digital camera but I want to take it to the next level. What's a good recomendation for a decent digital SLR? Speaking of new toys, I want THIS toy very very much!

Isn't it beautiful? ::sigh::

Exhausted
I didn't have the time to recap the blogmeet yesterday... and I won't have the time today.
My Mom is undergoing a biopsy this morning on a mass that was found in her breast. Please - good thoughts would be highly appreciated...
I will update later.
