Hump Day
Thank you so much for all of your kind wishes about Mom. She is doing fine. The surgeon removed the cyst/growth and it is currently on its way to be diagnosed.
As for me, well, it's the usual insanity around here. Eldest is currently being a hormonal pain in my butt - all this weeping and yelling. She is truly a joy to spend time with lately. Youngest will be getting a lot of dental work done. We had spacers

put in her mouth yesterday and on Thursday, she will be getting her palate expander.

I remember getting spacers before I got braces.. and they were really uncomfortable. I mean, really REALLY uncomfortable. Think about a thick piece of steak stuck between two of your back teeth and you are unable to remove it, no matter how much it makes you crazy.
Yeah, it still freaks me out thinking about it and I was about 15. I didn't really like my orthodontist - he spoke in this whiny, sorta of quivery old guy voice. And, he always hummed, very badly, to the local elevator musak radio station. OY! But, I have to honestly say that my teeth are still pretty straight. They look a zillion times better from when they were all jacked up when I was a kid.
I am off to shoot more candid pictures for Eldest's school yearbook. That should be a lot of fun! I need (aka WANT) a new digital camera but I want to take it to the next level. What's a good recomendation for a decent digital SLR? Speaking of new toys, I want THIS toy very very much!

Isn't it beautiful? ::sigh::

I suppose the important thing is, is that it was caught early, and removed. God willing this is the last she needs to deal with it. My best wishes.
As for "Think about a thick piece of steak stuck between two of your back teeth and you are unable to remove it, no matter how much it makes you crazy," that exact thing happened to me yesterday, although I eventually fished it out.
But geez, what a royal pain in the groodies (not to mention Da Chops) that was. Next time I stick to the grilled salmon burger.
PS: I think I love you too!!
:-)

I can't imagine having to go aroud with spacers and then that extender thingy in my mouth. Shudder.
Hope everything is benign for your Mom.
As for a good SLR digital...You sat all night next to a woman with a great looking Canon EOS. Go seek advice from Shamrocketship. (She's got some great shots from Saturday night up and a whole album from her trip to Tartan Day.)

I just got the Canon XTi. It's a great camera. But you have to ask yourself if a DSLR is really what you want or if you might be better off with the Olympus C-765 where you have fairly good resolution and megapixels and customization of functions (plus a super sweet built-in optical zoom) without all the hassle of investing in lenses and such with the DSLR.
Even with my photography background, I've found going to a DSLR a bit more challenging than I thought. I could pick up ANY film SLR and shoot without problem. The learning curve is a bit steeper with digitals. And if you're going to invest in something for the sake of getting good shots of the kids at school, a good, adaptable point and shoot like the Olympus is a much more economical and freindly route to go.
Just my two cents.
