Resolution Smesolution
No New Years Resolution for me. Nope - not gonna do it. No recaps, no year in review.
I've got too much to do.
It's Pajama Day here at Casa de Katespot. I don't think the girls have climbed out of bed yet. They are awake and DS'ing quite nicely. Oh - Youngest celebrated her eighth (!!) birthday yesterday. Mom, her boyfriend, and some family friends stopped over for lunch and gifts. Youngest cleaned up quite nicely. She got some clothes, a pretty cute hand-knotted Spongebob fleece blanket from this seller, ten Webkinz from my Mom (yes TEN!), and a DS Lite system from us. She was SOOO happy with all her stuff. I will post some pictures eventually.
To the few people still reading this blog, I hope everyone has a fantastic time tonight. Happy New Year to all!

Oy
Well, today wasn't that great of a day. First of all, I was pulled over for speeding (47 in a 35). Ouch. A 2 point ticket and Luckily, I have a very good driving record and the most awesomest ever nice officer let me go with a ticket for obstructed vision. (I have a pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror.) This officer saved me quite a few dollars in fines, nevermind the insurance costs and surcharges!
So, after all that, I drive (the speed limit) us to Eldest's horseback riding camp, which is held at the farm where she takes riding lessons every week. Today is the last day of "camp". I am able to come back around 1030am to relax in the viewing room and watch her ride. She enjoys when we see her ride so Youngest and I run a couple of errands and head back to the farm. Eldest and another student arrive in the arena, mount up on the horses and begin to ride.
Everything is going so smoothly. The instructor sets up the crossbeams (similar to this:

but much lower to the ground. Eldest and the horse barely jump over the first one (because it's so low) but when they got to the second one, well, I guess the damn horse thought he was in the damn Olympics because the bastard took off. Even I could see the horse gearing up for the the second set of beams. He jumped and then started cantering around the arena. At this point, I am on the edge of my seat, very tense, watching Eldest. I had a bad, bad feeling coming up on me and had the awful thought that this wasn't going to end nicely. Unfortunately, I was correct. Eldest and the horse made it back around to the beams again, sailed over the first set (beautifully) and when they arrived at the second set of beams, the horse made it over and Eldest, well, she made it over the horse.. and onto the ground.
We've had this happen before and I can honestly assure you that it still scared the ever-loving shit out of me. I raced out of the viewing room and into the barn. She was already up off the ground and brushign herself off when I saw her next. She was shaken up but, after a couple minutes, she got back on that friggin' horse and continued riding.
God, I need a drink.
I've got more going on today but I am so stressed, I need to take a break for now and will try to write more later. Ciao!

Gone. All Gone
Well, I've dismantled all the Christmas decorations and packed every damn bit of Christmas cheer away until next year. The trees were dragged back lovingly packed away to the safety of my mother's basement. Phew.
I am so glad that is done. This was the very first time I packed it all up before the middle of January. Youngest's birthday is Sunday and, frankly speaking, I had no space in my living room for anyone to sit. We've got a few people stopping over for lunch and I just wanted all the *stuff* out of the living room. I'm pretty impressed with myself!
Now, if only I could get the rest of my house this clean and organized...

Relaxing Day
Well, I can't believe that Christmas is over! All that preparation and *poof*. Done.
Eldest had horseback riding camp today. AT 9am. It was a lot of fun to wake up at 7am for that. Even she didn't hop out of bed immediately and she is a horse freak. So, while she spent the day riding and shoveling poop, Youngest and I stayed home and played. She was on Webkinz while I chilled out on the couch with coffee and the clicker. Then, after a very brief lunch, she decided she wanted to play with the Wii. How could I say no? She's got some great footwork:
Sorry for the dark room. I didn't realize how dim the living room was until after I shot the video. Both girls love the Wii and I've got to say that I am a big fan as well. I think I need to get another set of remotes and nunchuks for me!
G'night!

Peace and Quiet
The girls are at school. Hooray!
Now I can wrap all the gifts and bake a couple dozen cupcakes for Youngest's class party tomorrow afternoon. Eldest's party is tomorrow morning and I am bringing in cooked bacon and frozen pancakes. The kids in her 6th grade class will be having one helluva feast tomorrow morning!
On a sidenote, did anyone watch the season finale of Everest on the Discovery Channel? Husband and I are so hooked on that show.I can't believe that people would actually risk death to climb to the top of Mt. Everest. Certainly it's beautful but, since I am a chicken by nature, I can't even imagine doing something that dangerous. Besides, I don't even like the snow in New Jersey, nevermind paying €33,000 ($47,520 in American currency!!) And, climbing 27,000 feet above sea level. Uhh - hell no thanks!
Well, I am off to wrap - and bake too. Ciao!

The Loyal Wife
There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money,
and was a real miser when it came to his money.
Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take
all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to
the after life with me."
And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he
died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
Well, he died . . .
He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and
her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just
before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said,
"Wait, just a minute!"
She had a box with her; she came over with the box and put it in the casket.
Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away. Her
friend said, "I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there
with your husband."
The loyal wife replied "Listen, I'm a Christian; I can't go back on my word.
I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him."
"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!"
"I sure did" said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account
and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it."
