RIP Liz
Fashion House Founder Liz Claiborne Dies

I loved her clothing lines and her handbags. I believe that her fashions are timeless... classic. Every woman should own at least one piece of her clothing.

Tonight's Meal
It's too hot to run the oven and my BBQ is on the fritz, thanks to some of my little gray fuzzy neighbors who manages to chew a two inch hole in the gas line to my grill. Goddamn squirrels. I could have blown myself up when I tried to light the damn grill. Check out this video clip of the Squirrel CataHusbandt. The person who created it is brilliant and I would love to place on order for one. Those little bastards chewed up too much of my stuff already and I am sick of it!
ANYWAY - here's my dinnertime solution to set it and forget it!
Slow Cooker Barbeque
Original recipe yield:
8 servings
INGREDIENTS
1 (3 pound) boneless chuck roast
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 (18 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce
DIRECTIONS
Place roast into slow cooker. Sprinkle with garlic powder and onion powder, and season with salt and pepper. Pour barbeque sauce over meat. Cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours.
Remove meat from slow cooker, shred, and return to slow cooker. Cook for 1 more hour. Serve hot on rolls. Yum.

Lucky little buggers
The girls got to go back out on the boat this afternoon. Life sure is good for these kids. I picked them up at the marina just in time to chauffer Eldest to her horseback riding lesson. Now, we are at home. Youngestis exhausted and Eldest is slightly grumpy.
I can't WAIT for bedtime tonight!

Only Tuesday?
I am lost when the kids are out of school. I forget the date or what day it actually is. Good times my friends.
I managed to dump off both girls at a friend's house for a double sleepover. How awesome is she? She has daughters the same ages as mine plus a little five year old boy who is absolutely adorable beyond belief. When I stoppe dover last night to drop the girls, my friend and her husband asked if we wanted to go out on their boat. SURE! I parked my car in front of their house, borrowed a jacket and we were off to the marina.
I had a great time. My girls had never been on a boat before (even though we do live 10 minutes from the beach) and they had a blast. I thought for sure one of them would flip out but they proved me wrong. Of course, my hostess, who was not piloting the boat, had a few too many so when we got back to the marina, I had to drive her Suburban back to the house. That thing is HUGE!
When we got back, all the kids piled in the living room, put on their pjs, and watched a movie. I stayed for a little while longer, enjoyed a couple Twisted Teas then headed on home. Turns out that Husband had to work until 11pm and only just made it home a few minutes before me. He was up until 2am and then headed to work at 7am. He is definitely going to be toasted tonight!
In other home remodeling news, yes, we've torn up yet another toom. Our old master bedroom is now going to be Eldest's room and Youngestwill move up to Eldest's room. Why? Because Eldest has that built-in loft bed that is bolted to the wall. It's easier to move the girls than attempt to remove the bed! So, this past weekend, we ripped out the old carpeting, padding, and tackless. We fixed the floor and on Sunday, we slammed down a nice (and pretty inexpensive) wood laminate. I've got to say that we did a damn nice job on it too.
Of course, the rest of the house is in complete disarray. I need Husband to finish setting the mouldings back in place (he needs to cut them to size) and spackle a couple of holes and I can do everything else. I can't wait to get the girls moved around! Youngestis a HUGE Spongebob fan. She also loves cats so I'm trying to think of a way to incorporate them together.
This room is going to take a little more work than I expected.

Movie Review

Youngestand I attended an afternoon movie show while Eldest was at a birthday party. We stood in line for Shrek 3 but it sold out right before we could get the tickets. Man, I was so bummed. The only other show that was available was Surfs Up.
So, I grab two tickets, pick up a $4.50 small soda and we rush into the show. Let me tell you that we got the last two seats in the very back row. The theater was mobbed, humid, and smelled faintly of dirty diapers. Not the wet kind, if you know what I mean.
Eww.
Well, the show starts and it's a bit violent and dark. As the movie goes on, I am more and more dismayed at the language that was used through this movie.
There was a penguin says "it tastes like sh...,"
A chicken says "I can feel it in my nuggets,"
Name-calling (loser, cocky, jerk, snowflake, bum, blubber-ball, fish sticks, "dirty trash can full of poop")and the winning phrase of pecker face. Pecker face!*
I was shocked. Here's the kicker: not only did the character clearly call another character a pecker face, the theater was running the closed captioning so everyone got to read the words "pecker face" as well as hearing it. I'm sitting in the theater with my seven year old, watching this movie. The theater is full of children of all ages, some even as young as four or five.
Lovely. Just lovely.
So all you readers out there looking to take your young children to this movie, I'd have to definitely suggest you stay home and save your money.
*All the other name calling didn't bother me too much. Youngest's heard them before but I still maintain that pecker face was over the top for a childrens movie.

We're EARLY?
Eldest was completely ready for school by 7am. When I say completely ready, I mean it - dressed, packed, teeth, hair.. all of it. Done. It figures - by the last day, she's actually motivated to get to school! I think she wants to show off her new "do". So, since she's ready, I allowed her to turn on the television. Guess who also manages to wake up early too? She comes out of her room all smiley faced and dressed.
Man, I was every day ran as smoothly as the last day of school!

I can't believe she did it
Eldest decided that she wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. She had eleven inches of hair that was neatly and quickly cut off and bagged to send out to the organization. She literally turned into another child - more grown-up. Mature. ::sniffle:: My baby.
Check out the pics of Eldest below.

As you can plainly see, she is thrilled to have finally gotten her hair cut. She's been wanting it much shorter for quite a while. Isn't she gorgeous?

Another Birthday??
Yep - we've got another one...
Husband - have a wonderful and special day. Pay no mind to the crying children in their bedrooms or the fact that those particular rooms are still not cleaned as requested. Pay no mind to your cranky wife who got all pissed off when she realized that only she threw away her $25 beach badge.
But, everyone, please attention to the fantastic man who, on his very own birthday, dug through not one but two bags of garbage to find said beach badge for his now greatful and loving wife.
Happy Birthday sweetie - I love you!

And now... the end is near...
After today, there are only two more half days of school!
Please excuse the crazy woman who is singing and dancing in her front yard.
Eldest's class party is at 10am and all I need to do is bring in two gallons of orange juice. That's it.
Booyah.

No One Told Me!
I have to admit it, iTunes is really, really fun. And, it's very, very addicting. I think I need a sugar daddy to help me support my iTunes addiction.
My name's Kate and I am addicted to iTunes.
Hi Kate
Speaking of addicted, is anyone out there an Amy Winehouse fan? I really like music and Husband likes her .... well, I'll just leave that one alone as I am sure all you intelligent people out there can figure out just why he likes her. Heh.
Thank you for all of the lovely birthday wishes. I loves all youse guys. Really I do.
Youngest's class party is at 115pm today. We were going to be outside but it looks like Mother Nature has something else to say about that. Luckily, being the smart Girl Scout leader/Mom that I am, I had made previous arrangements to hold the party in another building that is attached to the school. Plenty of room for the twenty three students, two teachers, eighteen parents and seven tagalongs.
Oy.
Wish me well. I'm going in around 1pm - I hope I make it out alive. If I don't, you can all share my iTunes library.
Not.

Finale
I loved the final episode. I think Chase did a great job with it, especially with (poor?) Phil. That scene alone made me cackle in glee at his demise. “Wave bye-bye to Grandpa”.
Bye-Bye Sopranos
David Chase is just so mental. Once I realized that the cable wasn't knocked out, I freaked out a bit about the ending. But, the more I thought about it, it was a typical ending for Chase. Everyone is expecting a HUGE bloodbath, but, with Phil falling under the car and getting his head crushed like a grape, it kinda removed him from power. That was all Tony needed to move on with his operations and his day to day routines.
I've heard of a possible prequel but I am happy with it ending just like it did - POOF!

Someone Pause This Whirlwind that is My Life!
Ok, so life is a little hectic lately.
Lately?
Yep - that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. The class trips are finally finished, spring concerts are over, both GS troops have (finally!) partied out and finished. Youngest's class party is Thursday and Eldest's is Friday. T-ball is almost complete too. HOORAY!
Does cheering make me a bad Mom?
Oh HELL no it doesn't!
I can't WAIT to sit at the beach and do nothing but relax. I have finally got myself a beach badge and I intend to use it quite frequently.
Long Beach Island - here we come!

Holy Crap!
Bear tries to pull N.J. Girl Scout from tent at Pa. camp
::link::
An 11-year-old New Jersey Girl Scout got a rude awakening early Sunday when a bear tried to pull her out of her tent at a campground in the Poconos.
Celeste Tietz of Franklin Township, Warren County, managed to grab a tent-support pole and slide out of her sleeping bag as the bear was tugging at it. Tietz and four other girls slept in bags on cots.
"I was sleeping and I woke up because I fell on the floor," Tietz said. "Then something started pulling me towards the front of my tent and tried to pull me out."
After Tietz slid out of the sleeping bag, she jumped into a fellow Scout's cot and the girls started screaming for help. Tietz's mother, Cathy, and other Scout leaders said the bear then moseyed around their campsite, approaching other tents.
The Scout leaders were able to load the campers, about 15 of them, into a van and took them to the camp's mess hall. "It was a scary situation," troop leader Terri DeTore said.
Shortly after midnight before the 11-year-old's bear encounter, DeTore said she heard a ruckus coming from a neighboring camp site.
Because of the bear encounter, Camp Mosey Wood in White Haven, Luzerne County, has been closed to tent campers for the next two weekends, according to Ann Meredith, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania.
"Everybody will be using cabins and there will be no outside cooking," Meredith said.
Bears can be attracted to camp areas by food, toothpaste and, as Meredith put it, "pretty-smelling shampoo." Campers and Scout leaders receive education and warnings about bears when they register for camp. Bear warnings are also posted.
"Bears are a fact of life," Meredith said. "We're living in their habitat."
Cathy Tietz said there was no food out at her camp before the Sunday morning incident.
Meredith said a warden with the Pennsylvania Game Commission set a bear trap at the camp. A message left for game commission officials was not returned.
Camp officials also are reviewing emergency procedures.
"We'll use this as an opportunity to further educate Girl Scouts about bear safety," Meredith said.

Sopranos
Major Spoilers below.
HOLY SHIT on a sandwich!
Oh my GAWD. They killed Bobby! You bastards! I guess he's visiting the big club car in the sky. Poor little Dominica. Janice - ehh, she sucks but I do feel so sorry for Bobby Jr and Sofia. Can you imagine life with Janice? Oy.
And what about Silvio? Holy crap. I loved that scene, especially with all the topless dancers from the Bin running around outside and screaming. How often does one giggle while watching a mob hit. Didn't the part of the scene when Sil was fumbling for his gun remind you of the scene when he was going to kill Ade and she was scrambling to escape? I felt so sorry for the poor bastard on the motorcycle. Not only is he thrown off his bike after hitting a car, he gets rolled down the road, AND, to add insult to injury, he is run over by another car. Man, David Chase is one sick mofo.
AJ - can he get ANY more annoying? His depression? Pulease, cut me a freakin' break. Too bad that his rope was too long when he was swimming in the pool last week. He's such a tool.
Anyone have predictions about who gets it next week? I have "heard" that either Meadow or Carmela gets whacked.
