Freak Out
Good morning people!
Of course, as usual, I have been extremely busy. My brother's wedding is Friday so I have been running around like a doofus, making sure everything is ready. The place where we will be eating the night before the wedding isn't really safe for Miss O. So, I will be preparing her food and they can reheat it for her. The restaurant where the reception will be held was much more helpful and will have some foods aside for Miss O. When I spoke with the people there, they assured me that they could prepare food for her, if needed. I will have some things for her, just in case.
I'd love to write more but I've got quite a few things to do this morning. So, what the hell is going on with you guys?!?!

Good throughts
Tonight, Eldest and I will be spending the evening at the local community center with her Girl Scout troop. We are having an overnight "Troop Fun Night". We're going to cook, make dessert, have a pj fashion show, sing karaoke, all kinds of goofy stuff for nine and ten year old girls. I will also have a craft station for them as well register them for next year's scout year.
Wish me luck and I hope I can get a little bot of sleep!

In Harm's Way
My local paper featured an article in Sunday's paper discussing food allergies. Here is the direct link. An ironic moment, while reading the story, it was continued to another page. As I turn to the correct page, I immediately notice that the continued article is right next to a recipe for Spicy Almond Pesto made with nut butter.
Wha..??
Anywho, I emailed the paper and thanked them for educating people about food allergies. I didn't bring up the oddly strange placement of the almond pesto recipe.

Do the humpty dance
It is Hump Day...
To recap Monday - aside from the "minor problem" - I had a great day. My stepmom came down and we went out to lunch at Fridays before setting up at the community center. Millie worked her butt off helping me set up and, when the girls came in, helped them make their situpons. Luckily, Mom also showed up early too and she also helped a couple of the girls with their situpons. Thanks Mom and Millie! {{{hugs}}}
Eldest had her horseback riding lessons yesterday and she did stay on top of the horse. No more dirt diving please. My heart can't handle it.
SPEAKING of heart - who the hell watched House last night? Those BASTARDS! I love me some Hugh Laurie. Thank goodness that the show is renewed for the fall. Exploding nut sacks, eyeball popping out, swollen tongue? EWWWW!Talk about one gruesome episode! Well, except the scene when Cameron is on the table and House is operating the robot arm. ROWR! That was HOT! AND, can Hugh Laurie's eyes get any bluer? ::fanning self:: Whew - is it warm in here?

Tuesday
The Daisy ceremony went well yesterday. I had one mom who was royally pissed that her daughter's name was omitted from the program. She also didn't have a petal to hang up as well. I had another girl's name that was also omitted. I didn't make the programs but I did okay them so I felt really bad. I apologized to the mom but she was completely out of her mind pissed off. Her daughter was "heartbroken" over the fact she didn't have a petal. Ok, WTF? She's SIX. Does a six year old even know what heartbroken is? I didn't kill her mom - just f'ed up the program. This mom had (and still does) have me pissed off beyond belief. She just wouldn't let it go and kept harping about it. What do you want me to do - shot out a petal with her name on it? I made a MISTAKE. Fucking sue me. Oh, and when I apologized to the other mom whose daughter's name was omitted, know what she said? "Don't worry about it. These things happen."
Thank you.
I find that the people who don't do SQUAT in volunteer work are definitely the first to stand up and bitch. I don't get PAID to put in 20+ hous a week in Girl Scouts. I do it because I love to do it. I don't recall this particular mom offering to help with anything. I don't need some 20-something way inappropriately dressed to attend a GIRL SCOUT ceremony HO to attempt to tear me a new one because of a simple mistake.
GAH!

Hooray!
I am SO happy it's Monday. It was time for the kidlets to get their little asses back in school. I don't even want to explain what happened... just that it was a looooong weekend!
Today is our Daisy troop's Bridging ceremony. Of course, I am running around like a freak, trying to make sure everything is in place. I did pick up the most beautiful flowers from our local florist. They gave us a great deal on daisies - $1 each stem. I walked out of the florist with 3 dozen daisies and they were just so pretty. I love daisies. There's just something so simple about them but, in a huge bunch, they are just gorgeous.
Anyway, I've got to run. I'm having lunch with my stepmom before we run over to the community center and prep everything.
Ciao!

Start Spreadin' The News
I'm leaving tomorrow...
I'm meeting my friend Kathy in New York City tomorrow morning. She's already on the plane and also bringing with her husband and nine year old daughter too. I've known Kathy over nine years and we met WAYYYYYYYYYY back on those AOL message boards. Anyone remember how awesome those boards used to be?
Anywho, we belonged to a rather large email loop that has slowly whithered down, one by one, to the small core group we are today. Now, there's only six of us that are active. The Loopies with blogs: Wendi, Island Queen (she wants to be anonymous, Chris, and Shel. We also have our own message board too but I have to admit that I am pretty crappy about keeping up on the boards lately - lazy Loopie.
Two years ago, I was lucky enough to meet up with Shel and Kathy in NYC. That was the first time I had ever met them. Now, Kathy and her family are on their way to NYC THIS MOMENT! I am so excited! I decided to bring Eldest with me so she gets to play hooky stay home sick tomorrow.
Tomorrow's schedule is pretty basic. Meet outside Grand Central Station and then we're headed all the way across town to Battery Park for a Circle Line ride to Ellis Island and the Statue of Libery. The Statue wasn't open the last time Kathy was here so it's going to be pretty exciting to visit. I am pretty sure I will take a million pictures. LOL.
Ok - so I'm off to do some more laundry, get Youngeston the bus, then head over to Goodyear to get the screw removed from my tire. Bah.

Is this blog on?
:::tap tap:::
Helllooooooooooooooooo??
Well, my Mother' Day was very nice. The family let me sleep in and, when I did get up, made me a very nice breakfast and cup of coffee. Can't beat that for anything. The girls got me the Lord of The Rings trilogy set. No no, not the movies, the actual books. I was hoping it had The Hobbitt in the series but, alas, it did not. I think I can spring for that book.
Today, the girls had off from school. Some sort of teachers "In Service" day. No idea what that means but the girls were home. We set out on a search for flannel backed vinyl tableclothes. Why? Well, Youngest's Daisy troop will be bridging on Monday the 22nd and all the girls, including another troop of 12, will be making sit-upons. What are sit-upons? Something like this except we are using the vinyl tableclothes instead of the bandanas. So, I've got to cut out 28 sit upons. Oy.
Off to tuck the kidlets into bed. Ciao!

American Idol
Read at your own risk
Oh my Gawd - WTF is up with Taylor? Argh, I can't stand him. He's such a spas. BUT, to grudgingly give him credit, the second song sounded much better. Chris did a fatastic job with his first song and the second song was a bit meh. Elliott, I just love him. I didn't think his first song was that great but he kicked ass on song #2. Katherine - Girl, it's time to go. She was awful last night. Dropping lyrics in the first song and wailing away througout the seond song. It's time for Kat to leave the building.
I also watched my favorite show House. Good God, I was in tears by the end of the episode. That poor poor baby.

David Blaine
Ok - is anyone else hooked on watching David Blaine's special "Drowned Alive"? It's such a horrifying way to die and, oy, it's totally freaking me out. Now, I know he's not really going to drown on national television.. it's just the thought of it that totally squicks me out.
:::::::::::
Well, 7:08 is a pretty fantastic time anyway. He looked messed up when they pulled him out of the tank. How about when they took his gloves off? Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! Other than that, he looked pretty ripped! ROWR! He's quite sexy in the way that he could possibly kill you or charm the pants off you instead.

Sopranos
Possible spoilers below
I had a hard time with last night's episode. Actually, I thought it was kinda boring. A few scenes were good.
- the scene with Tony and Chrissy stealing the wine from "the Vipers".
- Husbandie getting the shakedown from the new priet in the church. Heh.
- The scene with Carmella and Ade's mom. Whoa, that was painful to watch.
- St Elzéar – “Patron saint of zeppoles” - Husbandie, best line of the night. Have any of you been to an Italian fair? Oh my GAWD - I looove zeppoles. YUM!
- Janice, please GO AWAY! We all hate you.
- Bobby vs Husbandie. Bobby seems so sweet but it's creepy to watch him switch back and forth from doting daddy to murdering mobster. ::shudder::
- Why is it that I feel sorry for Husbandie? He's SUCH a prick! I did like the fact that he is going to reconcile with his [Not] Mom and her new tv.
- Anyone catch what Christofuh said when he saw the house with his new bride? "Stately Wayne Manor" - gotta love to homage to Batman!
- I found this from Television Without Pity and I couldn't have said it any better:
The only good thing has been the slow decline of Christofuh without the stabilizing influence of Ade. As one poster noted, without her, he is just another asshole. One episode he's cokin up, chasin' hookers, and assaulting old ladies for marble ryes, and then the next he's doin' H with Mr. Bilingual Junkie Contract Killer Guy. Great stuff
- This scene made me totally crack up. Christofuh is in the Bing, telling the guys (Tony, Sil, Husbandie..)about his marriage. They start discussing family and the importance of children and being grounded, good wholesome family guys that they are....as the stripper in the background winds her way upside down on the pole. Too freakin' funny!

It's Friday! Woohoo!
I guess I should be having a margarita - ya know - in order to keep up with the current celebrations. I have got to buy those frozen mixes and add my own booze. Yum indeed.
Today is definitely a margarita kind of day. Gorgeous, almost 80 degrees and just a slight breeze to make it most enjoyable. I think I am going to head out for a bike ride. I can't just sit here in the house. It's TOO NICE!
No big plans this weekend except to really kick it into gear around the house. You know how it is - lots to do and not enough time to do it all.
Enjoy your weekend!

Damn
I've got to get a cavity filled this morning.
Blah.
Before I head to the dentist, I've got to stop at all four schools and pick up registrations for our last (thank goodness!) Family Fun Night event. It's going to be a Wingo (Bingo) night and I think that it's going to be a lot of fun. I've just ordered a bunch of little giveaway prizes from Oriental Trading and the "big" prizes will be gift cards to local stores - Michaels, McDonalds, Walmart, Atlantic Books, and Blockbusters PLUS free dessert cards to Applebees.
Booyah indeed.

Jersey Women
I got this from my Mom. I've seen it around but it's still enjoyable.
YOU GOTTA LOVE JERSEY WOMEN
A woman from New Jersey and another woman were seated side-by-side on an airplane.
The woman from New Jersey, being friendly and all, said "So,where are you from?"
The other woman said, "From a place where they know better than to use a preposition at the end of a sentence."
The woman from New Jersey sat quietly for a moment and then replied "So, where are you from, bitch?"

Forgot to mention
I only just recently watched Kill Bill Vol 1 and I loved it. I've got KB Vol2 up next in my Netflix queue and I am seriously looking forward to watching it/
I'm heading to Toms River in a little while to register Eldest for Girl Scout camp. She chose one week of regular camp and one week of horseback riding camp. La-di-da! Plus, she's also going to a one week recreation program that the school is offering. I think Youngestwill still continue gymnastics although I am not too thrilled with the kids in her class. They are such little monsters. They don't listen, they act out, they touch things they aren't supposed to touch. Argh. It makes me CRAZY when Youngestis trying to pay attention in her class and all the other 5-6 year olds are acting out. I think I will be switching her to a different day OR find another place for her to attend.
Ok - I've got to run. Catch ya later!

Eventually...
Yeah yeah.. I'm still around.
I've noticed that several of my favorite reads attended a blogmeet this weekend. From the recaps I've read, a wonderful time was had by all AND no one was arrested! I am bummed that I missed a phone call from Zonker and the crew.
There's so much going on here.. I don't even know where to begin. Eldest had another horseback riding lesson yesterday and everything went fine. No dirt diving. Hooray. We figured out that the noise that startled the horse was made by a quad runner. Lord - I hate those things. Luckily, the people that rent the land in order to ride the quads won't be there much longer. Apparently, they lease the very back part of the farm's property. Well, that's ending this month and I am very happy about that.
I'm such a devoted and wonderful mother that I just made corn muffins for Youngestand they are baking as I type. Yeah, I rock! She just discovered how yummy corn muffins taste and now she wants them all the time! Luckily, Jiffy is safe for her to eat and she's ready to chow down. In fact, she's standing in front of the oven, watching them bake!
American Idol - Good lord - what a weird show. C'mon, Taylor has GOT to go. He sucks! I think Elliot did a great job and Katerine's second song was so cute. The girls liked it too.
Only a few weeks left until my brother's wedding. Lots of stuff going on with that. The girls got fitted for their dresses and they look absolutely beautiful. ::sigh:: My babies are growing up.
Time to check my muffins ::heh:: Have a great day.

Artie Artie Artie...
Looks like Artie has issues off screen as well.
He plays a chef on "The Sopranos," but John Ventimiglia cooked himself a recipe for disaster when he was busted for drunken driving and cocaine possession yesterday about a block away from his Brooklyn home.
The actor, who stars as New Jersey restaurant owner Artie Bucco on the hit HBO series, admitted to cops he drank four glasses of wine at a Manhattan eatery before getting behind the wheel of his 2004 Volkswagen Jetta and driving home.
Cops spotted him with his headlights off and weaving in and out of the oncoming traffic lane on Seventh Avenue in Park Slope at around 1 a.m., authorities said.
When officers pulled him over, Ventimiglia was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were bloodshot and he reeked of alcohol, according to the criminal complaint.
Prosecutors said the star had a blood-alcohol content of .12. The legal limit is .08.
The boozed-up actor also had a zip-lock bag with cocaine residue in his back pocket, cops said.
Ventimiglia, 42, was arraigned at Brooklyn Criminal Court yesterday on charges of DWI, reckless driving, operating outside the lane, operating without headlights and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He was released on his own recognizance.
Sources said Ventimiglia later maintained he had a couple of glasses of wine at a Long Island City art gallery opening. The actor claimed he had found a parking spot near his Park Slope apartment and had turned off his lights as he tried to pull in.
He said he couldn't park the car properly, so he drove around the block to look for another spot with his headlights turned off. That's when, he claimed, police picked him up.
Ventimiglia's character has been on a downward spiral from mild-mannered restaurateur who is best buddies with mob boss Tony Soprano to resentful loser.
After his restaurant was blown up at the end of the first season, Bucco appeared to be stuck in an ongoing mid-life crisis, prompted by a crush on the sexy Adriana La Cerva, one-time fiancée of mob captain Christopher Moltisanti, before she was rubbed out last season.
But last week, Ventimiglia really got a chance to flex his acting muscles in a critically acclaimed episode where Bucco beats up the Soprano wiseguy responsible for a credit-card scam at his flagging restaurant.
The episode ended with Bucco returning to his kitchen to cook up a rabbit he had shot in a rage in his back yard.
Yesterday, the "Sopranos" co-star arrived at his Park Slope home after a night in the slammer, looking unshaven and with two unidentified acquaintances.
The actor, wearing blue jeans and a black jacket, declined to comment to The Post as he quickly rushed to get inside his apartment.
His lawyer, Benjamin Petrofsky, did not return a phone call seeking comment.
Ventimiglia, who has appeared on Broadway, as well on numerous television shows during his nearly 20-year career, became the face of a range of cookbooks, pasta sauces and other Italian food delights aggressively marketed by HBO after "The Sopranos" launch.
Ventimiglia is the latest of a slew of the mobster serial's stars to find himself on the wrong side of the law.
Lillo Brancato Jr., who played Matt Bevilaqua, was charged with murder after he and an accomplice gunned down a cop after he interrupted them robbing a home for drugs.
Tony Sirico, who plays Husbandie Walnuts, was arrested 28 times before becoming an actor.
Robert Iler, who plays Anthony Soprano Jr., pleaded guilty to misdemeanor larceny in April 2002 after cops arrested him and three other teens for stealing $40 from two victims on a Manhattan street.
Vincent Pastore, who played Sal "Big Pussy" Bompensiero in the show, pleaded guilty to punching his former girlfriend last April and was sentenced to 70 hours of community service.

Sopranos
Spoilers below
I've got to say that tonight's episode didn't float my boat.
AJ - Give it up Junior. You are an idiot. His hair looks much better and he (almost) looks appealing. I did laugh when he arrived to take care of Uncle Joon, all bundled up with his big bad hunting knife. Whatta wimp. It looks like he's only good at snorting coke and fainting having panic attacks.
Tony - Opening the show with Tony Soprano having sex is really not what I'd care to watch. All that snorting and puffing...ewww.
Vito - Just the name of this episode "Johnny Cakes" made me snort.
I've got so much going on right now - I'll write more later!
