Sopranos
Spoilers and discussion below.
Holy crap! What a way to end the first show. I had heard that someone bites it in the first - guess that rumor was true! Phil is such a sneaky bastid. Hesh's son in law - that poor slob. Beat up AND hit by a car. Uncle Junior is derranged. I totally called what was gonna happen to Tony. I said to Husband "Joon is going to shoot him!" And, he got shot! I felt bad for Eugene and his family. The scene where he hung himself - Oh man, that was awful.
What is the deal with the sushi? Why was that so predominate in this episode? Is it that Tony and Carm are so wealthy they can eat there all the time?
OK - so what did YOU think of the season premiere of The Sopranos?

Food seemed to be a theme...FBI guy and his bug, the henchman who lost weight (did ya catch the actor on Celebrity Fit Club?) free desserts, the guy who got whacked at a fast food joint, and all the sushi. I felt bloated just watching. Oh, and Tony getting shot while cooking.
The product placements were blatant. Armani glasses, porshe, Corvette, the high end watches, and when Uncle Joon is watching TV you can read the brand clearly in the dark. Philips? Toshiba? I forget already.
What do you think they'll do with AJ this season. I was a bit disappointed. From the preview teaser, I thought perhaps he was going to be a toughie this year, but he seems to be the same old juvenile.

Personally - I can't stand AJ - I won't cry if he gets whacked....all that
food - I felt ill as well. As for the product placement, it was obscene -
ugh - I hate the damned Porsche Cayenne - like the pepper. ACK! WHo was Carm
eating with? Rosalie?

With Tony out, Silvio will most likely run things. It could be interesting though because Christopher is "blood." Hesh will be pissed because he won't get revenge for the beating him & his son and law took. I knew Chase used food as a bad omen but in the past it's always been eggs. And screw that guy that hung himself, he shouldn't have taken the oath if he wanted out.

Think about Meadow's fiance and what he caught Vito doing in season 5. The only thing keeping Finn alive was the fact that Tony would have scorched the earth for the killer of Meadow's civilian fiance.

It looks like everyone chunked up this year. But I think the food theme was there to represent the over-indulgence... the "over-the-top"-ness of their lives. Like, Carm, showing off her Cayenne, they were talking about $50 pieces of sushi.
Tony can't be dead. There were too many scenes of him in the season preview. Unless every future scene is some kind of a dream sequence, which would be pretty lame-o for the last season of a great show.

You (unknowingly) got me hooked on the Sopranos. Thank god for OnDemand. I got caught up and not a moment too soon!

I heard an interesting theory - since obviously a lot of time passed (15 months or more because of Janice's baby), could it be that the first episode of the season was a flash-forward to the end of the series? I'm not sure I buy it, but it is interesting.
