That was scary

Had a bit of a scare earlier this evening. Youngestwas invited to a friend's house after school today. I had no intention of just dropping her off and saying "See ya!" Oh no - not with food allergies. Until I know you better and I am confident you can administer an Epi-Pen, I stay.

So, the girls played while we, the adults, chatted. There is another child in the home, a two and a half year old boy. He's cute.. and spoiled. Maybe not spoiled but just busy. And loud. VERY loud. Good lord, that boy was loud!

I had a nice time, chatting with the other mom. She's very very pregnant and due right about now. We stayed for about ninety minutes and, right as I was getting stuff together so we could leave, Youngeststarted to cough. Not just any cough. It was "the cough", the type of cough that sends me on high alert. I hustled her out as quickly (and politely) as I could and we hauled ass home.

As soon as we got home, she ran into the bathroom to get a drink while I prepped her benedryl dose. She took it and then I changed her clothes and wiped her down. She was wheezing but able to speak to me. I prepped her nebulizer and watched her while she used it. Thankfully, it worked and we didn't have to rush to the ER. For a moment there, my nerves were shot. I knew I would be able to give her the epi but I do dread the day when I actually have to do it.

Youngestand I figured out that there must have been crumbs on the couch or rug where they were playing in the living room. Or, there could have been trace remains on the table where all three kids were coloring. Ahh - the joys of food allergies. Contaminates everywhere.

Thankfully, Youngestis fine. She ate a good dinner, is all showered and squeaky clean and now foraging around for a snack. I'm off to feed my "starving" daughter.

Wow. I didn't know just touching the crumbs could cause an attack. Poor kiddo. What does the dr say about her maybe growing out of some of it?
