A present!
Check out what Husband just bought for me last night. Ohh man, I am SO excited to get this too.
Nice, huh? No, it's not rims for the car. It's the parts needed to fix my washer.
That's hot.

Girl dies in peanut butter kiss
This happened to Husband when we first started dating. He picked me up at work and we ate lunch in the car while parked at the Manasquan Inlet. Unfortunately, I made the mistake and kissed him. Luckily (or foolishly), he was able to get some Benedryl into him quickly and, after driving me back to work, was able to drive himself to the local hospital. I am terrified that something like this could happen to Oliva when she is older.
A 15-year-old Canadian girl with a peanut allergy died after kissing her boyfriend who had eaten a peanut butter sandwich hours earlier, reports say. Christina Desforges, of Saguenay, Quebec, died last week after she failed to respond to days of treatment.
She had been given an adrenaline shot, a standard treatment for anaphylactic shock, almost immediately after she suffered a reaction.
A peanut allergist in Montreal said the case is "very rare and worrisome".
Ms Desforges' 16-year-old boyfriend had kissed her some nine hours after he had eaten peanut butter on toast, the AFP news agency reported.
"She was extremely allergic to peanuts and her boyfriend didn't know," a reporter for Canadian broadcaster TVA said.
Ms Desforges was taken to a hospital in Saguenay, about 155 miles (250km) north of Quebec City, where she died.
Hospital officials refused to comment. A post-mortem is due to be carried out.
Rhoda Kagan, a peanut allergist at Montreal's Children's Hospital, said some people have an "extremely low threshold" of resistance to peanuts and their traces.
"This varies greatly from person to person and is highly unpredictable," she was quoted by the Associated Press as saying.
Peanut allergy symptoms can include hives, a drop in blood pressure and swelling of the face and throat that can block breathing.

Things I've discovered
1. I *can* get in and out of a NJ Motor Vehicle location within 15 minutes. I can even say that it was a ::gasp:: nice experience. Too bad I look like a maniac in my DL photo. No, I won't post it either. Sheesh.
2. Working out is good. I like going to Curves.
3. I can work on projects and still NOT be prepared ::sigh::
4. There are simply not enough hours in the day.
5. It truly sucks when THE absolute main appliance in my home craps out. Merry Christmas to me - I get to buy a new washing machine. Yippie. Of course, my "old" machine is only 9 years old. It would cost a minimum of $300-$350 to even attempt to fix the "old" machine. That's assuming that it was only those three parts needed. Yes - $350 for three parts. Ouch indeed.
6. Sixteen five and six year old girls in a Girl Scout troop can be mentally draining. Oy, my ears are still ringing. God bless anyone who is a kindergarten teacher. Drinks are on me.
7. Nine year olds can drag out the most simplist of tasks, resulting in melt-downs and tears. Oh, and the nine year old gets upset too. It's a good thing my girls are cute.
8. Five year olds, when hyped up on albuterol and pulmicort, can run around in a circle in the living room as well as run up and down the hallway. Let's pray she crashes out ASAP. I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be home tomorrow. Bummers. It's a good thing my girls are cute.
9. I need cash. If anyone has some extra money, you know, like fifties and hundred just laying around the house, you can send some to me.
10. I am lucky to have a wonderful family. I love them dearly.
So, what's happening?? I've missed SO much!

Why, hello there!
I bet you thought I forgot all about you little poopsies. Of course not. Would I do such a thing? Our Thanksgiving was very nice and the four of us had a lovely time at my inlaws house. Dinner was delicious, as usual. It was nice to visit and relax.
Thanks again for all the kind thoughts and well wishes for my mom. Everything went quite smoothly at the hospital. There was a slight incident involving a 70+ year old aide attempting to help my mother undress. She was quite insistent on assisting Mom with unbuttoning her blouse. Mom, on the other hand, was equally, if not more insistant, that the aide was NOT going to help her. Needless to say, Mom won that battle. The nurses were very nice. One of them had a slightly wicked sense of humor. She was a lot of fun. Another nurse referred to Mom as "bone marrow girl. We both got a kick out of that too.
Did anyone go out shopping this morning? If so, I think you are truly insane. I love to shop but sleeping is SO much more fun. I managed to get most of my shopping done via Amazon. Oh, speaking of Amazon, if you feel compelled to shop, why not click through on my Amazon referrer link rrrrrright over there ------>? I can make a little bit of money which I can then turn around and spend on my lovely daughters. So, of course I clicked through on some of your links and shopped. I did hit the local stores and had some luck. I even shopped Thanksgiving eve after dropping Mom back at her house and found a few goodies there too. I am just about done with the girls. I've got to grab some stocking stuffers and that's about all. Now, all I have to do is work on a few more family members and their gifts. Unfortunately, since they READ my blog, I can't write about the cool stuff I've purchased. ::waving to family:: Hi there. How the hell are ya?
Eldest is sleeping over a friend's house and Husband just carried Youngestinto bed about 20 minutes ago. We're watching the James Bond marathon on Spike. I know, I've seen them all but c'mon! It's JAMES BOND!
I'm going to go fold some laundry and hang out with the hubster. G'night!

Very Brief
I've been very remiss in blogging this week. I don't have much time to get into details but Mom is going in the hospital for a bone marrow draw this afternoon. I'm gonna need more of those good thoughts, if you can.
I'll try to update later. Ciao!

GM to Close Nine Plants, Lay Off 30,000
Detroit - General Motors Corp. (GM) will eliminate 30,000 manufacturing jobs and close nine North American assembly, stamping and powertrain plants by 2008 as part of an effort to get production in line with demand.
(story continued here)
How awful. Granted, it's over a period of several years but 30,000? I am surprised that the GM plant in north Jersey wasn't on the list. Further in the news story, it does mention an unidentified site that is also slated to close. GM is in serious trouble.

Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire
I decided to treat myself this morning. I saw this at the 1150am show. It was SOOOOOOOO good! It was a lot different than the book - a lot of material was cut out of the novel. The movie was already 2+ hours. If it was exactly like the book, the movie would have been at least 4 hours.
Oy - I'm so happy!
I have a Girl Scout meeting this afternoon and I am going to tease the girls and tell them that I've seen the movie while they were in school. Mwahahahahaha! I'm the evil leader.

Exposed!
It's very windy outside. My small garbage cans, used for items to be picked up for recycling, blew over several times this afternoon. When I walked outside to recover them, I had to pick up some of the recycled items that fell out of the can. No big deal. The lid had blown across my yard and landed on the lawn. As I walked across the lawn. there was a huge gust of wind. WHOOSH! My shirt, a conservative button down oxford, blew straight up, covering my face! Horrifed, I wrestled my shirt back down in to place only to have it happen again. My poor neighbors just got flashed. Twice. I got the garbage cans back in place at the top of the driveway and flanked them with the two big garbage containers that the township issued to us. Those suckers aresn't going anywhere now.
As for me, I'm hiding in the house. Oy.

Weird
Two radio stations are playing Christmas music, nothing but Christmas music. The girls and I have been listening to it and singing along, having fun. This morning, Youngestand I were singing Johnny Mathis' version of "Sleigh Ride" while waiting for the bus in 72 degree weather.
Weird indeed!

Picture Day
Eldest just left for school in a completely grouchy mood. She looked very pretty but, with her pissy attitude, ugh. It was all I could do to get her out the door without going postal on her. I ironed her shirt and did her hair. Oy - she flipped out. She didn't like the way I did her hair. Good Lord, you'd have thought the world was ending. It was "too puffy", whatever the hell that means.
::sigh::
I'm going to the gym again this morning then I have to interview a potential Girl Scout leader at 1030am. Heck, I might even get to go to Toys R Us without the kids and pick up a few more gifts. I manged to get some at Walmart yesterday but their selection wasn't the best. I've got to knock this shopping out of the way!
Have a great day!

Strangely motivating
I'm blasting a Duran Duran cd while folding one hundred tons (or so it seems)of laundry. Wow - never thought about this when I was 15 and listening to Duran Duran. "Gee, when I'm old, I wonder if I will be folding laundry whilst I am listening to Duran Duran."
::sigh::

Heard from my Soldier
Back in September I wrote about joining an organization called Adopt A Platoon. I was assigned my soldier at that time and I've been sending him letters, cards, magazines and packages with food and other goodies. I've been worried about him - I know he's near a lot of fighting in Iraq. Well, I got an email from him today!! I'm SO excited!!! He's doing well but tells me that it is dangerous. I am SO thankful that he is alive. I started to cry when I read his email. He was even able to send me a few pictures of his vehicle as well as a picture of himself.
Here's part of his email:
"Well, I would like to say thank you to you, your family and everyone who has been sending letters and such. I love receiving them. It helps remind me why I get up every day to do my duties. Even when times are extremely rough. It puts a warm feeling in my heart knowing that there are those back home who care about the soldiers... regardless of race, religion, etc for we are all human and looking to help one another."
I'm asking that you please keep him, and all other soldiers, in your thoughts and prayers.

Scouting for Food
A few of my girls from the Daisy and Junior troop assisted the Boy Scouts today by distributing bags for the Boy Scouts annual "Scouting for Food" drive. My girls probably dropped bags at roughly 200 houses. We will also be helping pick up the bags next week when filled bags are left out for us. Then, after we pick up all the bags, we will be bringing them to one of two local food banks in our town. I hope we have a good response! Please, if you received one of those bags, leave something out to help the needy familes in your area.
Thanks!

Shoulda stuck with Netflix
The girls and I drive out to WalletBlockbusters to see if we could snag Star Wars III. Bwahahahahahahahaha! What a riot. Of course it wasn't available. There were many copies of it there if I had wanted to purchase it. No thanks. I'll get a free rental from the library. I did manage to get a freshly returned copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Racing Stripes (for the kiddies) and Batman Begins. I hope they don't suck. Well, I am pretty sure that Racing Stripes will suck but I'll make the kids watch that tomorrow night. I can't sit through that one sober.
So - what are YOUR hot plans for tonight?

A week of freedom!
The girls have the week off from school. Booooyah! So far, they've been staying up a little later and waking up a little later. Heck, so have I! I know this is going to bite me in the butt when next week, the little darlings return to school. Oooh - forgot to mention that the three of us will hopefully get to hang out with this crew - IF - she ever calls me. (Hint hint!)
Husband took the day off too. He's going to do more plumbing work under the house. Both my FIL and BIL busted their butts working down here this weekend. We owe them so much. There's no way Husband could have done all that wotk alone. He's not going to school tonight either.
My Partylite party was a success. I can't wait to start picking out things with my hostess credit. A friend of mine booked a party so I get to pick a cool hostess gift and spend my credits too. Shopping is fun with OPM (other people's money)!
I have to run up to the local GS council today and sign up my Daisy troop for an event. I bet they will have a BLAST. They are just so darn cute! I also need to pick up badges for my Junior troop. Some of the girls have done really well this year.
Gotta run. I hope to visit a lot of you soon!

Successful Saturday
The guys got a lot of stuff done today. They were in and out of the crawlspace and all over the house. I had my water shut off and the toilet disconnected for a few hours. That was a lot of fun. Luckily, we only had to make one toilet run to McDonalds. The bonus - I couldn't do any more laundry or do the dishes. The down side - I still have a lot of laundry left for tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I'm hosting a Partylite party at the consultant's house. Hell, I can't have it here. My house is a wreck! I hope some people actually show up for it. I have 3 or 4 people who aren't able to attend. Oh well, if anything, I'll be out of the house for a couple hours ::smile::
I'm off to watch George Carlin on HBO and then I think I might do some Christmas shopping. Wheeeeeeeee! Another fun Saturday night.
Ta!

DMV MCV ..
Whatever.
I'm planning on going to the local New Jersey and renew my license. It doesn't have my photograph on it. I can't even remember when I had a license with a picture. I've always renewed it in the mail. Several months ago, I was asked for a photo ID and, after digging through all my files and piles of papers, I realized that I didn't have anything that I could use as an ID.
Now that I volunteer in the school, I do have a school ID but I figure it's time for me to get a license with my photograph. Here's what I need to do in order to prove that I am *really* me - 6 Point ID Verification Program
Wow. It's a lot different from the "old days".

YoungestDay
Youngest's home from school today - her eyes looks so red and weepy. We just got back from the pedi and she seems to think it's from her seasonal allergies. We've got Patanol drops for her. Youngest's not happy - she hates eye drops. Normally, she's SO good about taking medications. She just knocks it back and chases it with a drink of water. With eye drops, she's a little more freaked out. I can't blame her. I hate drops too.
I've got to clean up and knock off some laundry. Catch ya later!
