Baking Day
I am going to make Youngestsafe doughnuts. I've found a very yummy mix from Miss Roben (a great allergy grocer. I highly recommend them!) I've got the dough all prepped and cooling in the fridge. I also decided to make a batch of polenta. So, that's all whipped up and cooling in one of my casserole dishes. Man, my arm is sore from whisking for six minutes. I am going to cut the polenta into squares and fry them up later. Mmmm!
I was curious about polenta and if it was the same thing as grits. I found a great website: Grits.com. They explain how grits become, well, grits. There is also a recipe for sweet tea which I think I am going to try. I also found this site: What is the difference between polenta and grits?. They are some very tasty looking recipes there too.
Yum.

If it's not nuked in a microwave, I'm afraid it's beyond my cooking capabilities!!

I'm a Yankee, but I love grits. Polenta, however, is another story. I kept seeing all these recipes for polenta on the Food Network and they sounded wonderful...so, decided I'd try it one evening. I followed the directions and added some fresh, dried basil and sauteed portobella mushrooms. I thought it was....ok. Ziggy, my partner, however...well, let's just say it's become a running joke around here. If he's being onery, I threaten to make him some polenta. (He doesn't like grits, either) hehe
