Duran Duran in Atlantic City

OHMYGAWD! It was so incredible.

D2.bmp

The show started at 9pm. They started off with the new release and then played a ton of their 80's stuff. I was in HEAVEN! I have a copy of the set list below. I was SCREAMING and singing like a freak during the show - like I was 14 again. ::sigh:: They looked SO damn HOT. Simon had some sexy moves and he STILL has a GREAT BUTT. He went off stage and was passed around the audience. Of course, it was on the OTHER side of the stage. It's probably good I wasn't there because I SO would have grabbed whatever I could have grabbed. LOLOL!
The one thing I didn't like was just HOW expensive all the merchandise was. Holy crap! T-shirts for $35, keychains for $14.50. Too much, especially since we paid $150 for two tickets so Husband and I could STAND for 3 hours! They didn't even have a program. I would have bought that. (I just checked the Duran Duran website and apparently there WAS a program available. So, I just ordered it online. Don't even ask what it cost. Eeek)
We didn't get home until 1215am. My FIL is AWESOME. He babysat the girls for us plus he was down earlier yesterday helping Husband with deck removal and building stairs. I didn't think we would be home that that late. Have I mentioned how awesome he is? LOL!
My feet hurt and my voice is a bit raspy but it was SOOOOOO worth it. I would definitely see them in another show. Anyone want to bring me to another show? : - )

By the time I thought about it... tix were sold out in AC and NYC. Oh well. Instead, we saw the Eagles. so it was $45 per t shirt!!!! (Sufficed to say... no purchases were made. I'm used to performers at the Stone Pony and Starland charging $25 and under)

Okay. I am officially jealous.

I got goosebumps just reading the set list!! I am so jealous but it sounds like you had a great time! I am going to go weep in the corner now since I don't get to go. :(

My wife and I were there also standing in center stage a few feet back. We RAN INTO SIMON walking to the elevators. He was alone with just one guard when he went to the elevators but my wife was too nervous to say anything. After that we went to th Metropolitan Cafe also (maybe you were there?) and found out Simon had just left after having a bite. We just missed him. Going to MSG Wed?

This sounds almost as good as the 80s cover band that I'm addicted to seeing. I just can't get enough!! This is why I'm not getting pregnant again anytime soon... can't go out dancing with baby bubble knocking you off balance.

I was a total Durannie. I wrote a post about them in Feb. talking about how Simon Le Bon lives in my neighborhood!

I saw the show in Fairfax... a bit too lound but They always a best live performer... Who's the heck is the opener, LOL

Posted by: bo at April 15, 2005 03:41 PM

the program price is $45. At the show, T-Shirts price are from $45-$100

Posted by: bo at April 15, 2005 03:43 PM

I saw them at Madison Square Garden and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else but with Simon, John, Nick, Roger and Andy! Dragged my hubby along cos I don't know any other DD fans. Sad, huh? LOL. Anywho... They were my fav band when I was 14 and twenty years later, they still rule!
I couldn't agree with you more about the prices of the merchandise. I saw the programs for sale but as soon as I saw the price ($45) I kept walkin'. I also fell in love with the DD red Soccer shirt...until I saw that it was $100 (Yeah, that's TWO zeros after the one!). Long story short, I did end up ordering a shirt off of their site (black babydoll with the 5 of 'em holdin' guitars) which wasn't available at the show.
Anywho, thanx for sharin' your story! Glad ya had fun.

Pretty cool hunh, Duran Duran all over again but wait there is something new called Dada Pogrom. He has so much in common with Nick Rhodes when it comes to keyboards and it's not the same but still ya know, old school Duran Suran synths stuff. Here is the url if you want to take a peek:
