Bad news
My MIL is at the hospital. She is having chest pains. My FIl is with her now while she gets situated and in a room. He will be calling us later when he gets back to their house. Oy.
Happy freakin' New Year!

Hi there
O's birthday party was a lot of fun. Mary - from the famous <a href="http://www.bookblog.net">BookBlog</a> came down for a visit. The girls went nuts - they <i>adore</i> Miss Mary. Of course, P and I were very glad to see her too! LOL. Mary made me a beautiful crocheted doily for my table. I will post a picture of it a little later. She also took over one of my crochet projects and made another chemo cap. Of course, hers looked a lot nicer than mine and she replaced the sc stitch for double crochet and it's a lot bigger. I think it looks awesome. I also crocheted a hat last night - not a chemo cap. It looks pretty damn awesome, if I do say so myself! Again - I will post some pictures later.
M had a friend, L, over today. L's little sister is pretty sick and her Mom called me last night, asking if L could come over to play. T (L's little sister) will probably be going to the hospital, the poor kid. P, their mom, is just exhausted from taking care of her. I know what she is going through. O was so sick during her first year of life - with the food allergies, reflux, jaundice, urinary reflux - oy - it was a mess. Thank God she is ok today.
Well - time to feed the girls and them toss them outside. Bye!

Nice day
Mom came down for O's birthday. She brought all kinds of presents, including the <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/cf.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/cf.html','popup','width=250,height=279,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false"> highly coveted talking Captain Feathersword!</a> O was SO excited when she saw what it was. "Grammy! You found him!" she exclaimed. Talk about cute!
She wants to open all her stuff now but I told her she needs to wait until Daddy is home. M was all huffy this morning. She counted O's presents and complained that O got more presents than she did. I got all pissed at her and explained to her that SHE had gotten a Gameboy for her birthday and she knew *if* she was getting a Gameboy, that she would get nothing else. M looked a little sheepish after being reminded of this. Heh.

Happy Birthday
I want to wish my beautiful daughter O a very happy and joyful birthday. Four years ago, you came into our lives, wrinkled and jaundiced and totally beautiful. Now, to look at you all "<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/004610.html#004610">grown-up</a>", I cannot help but be so very proud of you. Daddy and I love you very much.

Crochet Project
I made a chemo cap last night. I found the pattern from my friend <a href="http://cumberlandblues.blogspot.com">Chris</a>. <a href="http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/cpatt05.htm">This</a> is the pattern I used. Here are some pics of the finished cap.
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/hat2.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/hat2.html','popup','width=337,height=384,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Pic 1</a>
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/hat.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/hat.html','popup','width=308,height=225,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Pic 2</a>
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/PC290118.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/PC290118.html','popup','width=361,height=420,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Pic 3</a>
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/PC290127.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/PC290127.html','popup','width=388,height=361,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">Pic 4</a>
I am disappointed about how the cap turned out because it is too short. It just fits the crown of my head and not much more. I think I know what I did wrong. I made all my stitches single crochet (where it called for a stitch) unless specified. I think if I used double crochet instead, it would make the cap slightly larger. There isn't even enough to roll the edge of the hat. I will make another one while at tae kwon do with M. P is home today so he will keep O at home with him. She is busy with her play doh right now. M and I will be leaving in about 30 minutes. Gotta run!

Mission Completed
I got O her My Little Pony castle. She is gonna freak. LOL. I had a hard time finding the individual ponies but I think she is getting some cash from my brother. This way, she can get her own ponies. I grabbed some more Play-Doh stuff (Doh-Doh Island) and some little bracelets and rings, a Barbie watch (just like M) and a few other things. I think the castle will be a HUGE hit.

Shopping
I have to go shopping in a little while and pick up O's birthday presents. She will be four tomorrow! FOUR! I have a lot of cooking to do for tomorrow's dinner and my Mom is baking carrot cake for her - at O's request. I was <i>told</i> I had to make a pumpkin pie as well. Sheesh. I don't know how she got so damn bossy! LOL

Movies
Husband is watching one of the dvd he got for Christmas. He wanted "The Great Escape" for quite a while so Santa brought it for him. He also got "The Dirty Dozen" - another favorite. It's not one of my favorites. Bleeeech.
::update:: Ok - I just watched it with him. It's a pretty good movie. Depressing as hell - the ending sucks. Oy.

Messed up kind of day
Today was just too weird for words. Surreal might describe it best.
The kids are finally in bed. The house is a freaking <i>wreck</i>. Oh my gosh. It is bad. Our garbage cans are FULL. Completely full. We don't get pick-up until Wednesday. I know I should be cleaning but I can't bear to clean any more today. It's like trying to shovel during a blizzard.
Mom gave P a small plaque that says: <i>Having children is like being pecked to death by a duck</i>. Can I hear an amen? That's what the kids have been like the past few days. Ugh. I think we are all getting on each other's last nerve.
I think I am going to crochet for a while and try to calm down.

Parting is such sweet sorrow
We are in the process of weeding out some old toys, books, etc from the girls. Oy - this is difficult. We have SO many books that we just need to donate. O gave up a lot of her "noisy" dolls - singing Barney, a talking Kermit, Ernie and a couple dolls that say prayers. She does not like dolls that make noise. Well, except the Wiggles dolls. She loves them. Go figure.
M is rooting through her stuff, tossing out old papers and completed workbooks. She even gave some of her old toys to O - Mrs. Potato Head was a big hit. LOL
Back to work!

Stuff
<a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/yarn.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/yarn.html','popup','width=452,height=303,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">This</a> is all the yarn that my MIL gave to me today. <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/kateblanket.html" onclick="window.open('http://www.katespot.com/archives/kateblanket.html','popup','width=620,height=418,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false">This</a> is the blanket she made for me. It's gorgeous. I love the color and it is SO soft.
P and the girls had gone <a href="http://www.katespot.com/archives/004601.html#004601">to the park</a> and I had some time to myself. I took a 30 minute nap on the couch. Very nice. They got back around 430pm. We decided to go out shopping and hit the road 20 minutes later. We stopped at Radio Shack, Kmart, TJ Maxx, Michaels, Pier One (bought more ornaments) and Atlantic Books. I have to go out shopping for O's birthday. She wants a My Little Pony Castle thing. Kmart had some, marked down too. Woohoo.
The kids wanted McD's for dinner. Why not? So, they ate that and P and I ordered fried chicken (mmmm) from a new chicken-n-ribs place that opened down here. Not too bad. We just hung around the house, watching tv and helping the girls open up more of their stuff. Those damn Barbie/Bratz/Flava dolls are a bitch to unpackage.
The kids got to bed by 10pm. Let me tell ya, they are sleeping good tonight. Between the park and walking in and out of stores for almost two hours, they are pooped. Good. Heh.
Time to surf and see what you all are doing tonight.

Visit
The inlaws came down for lunch. It was a very nice time. My MIL made me a GORGEOUS crocheted blanket. Oh my gosh - I will have to post a picture. She also made one for M and O. Plus, she also gave me a lovely red leather bag. The girls loved their gifts.
She also gave a TON of yarn. All the skeins that she didn't want any more. There must be at least 15 skeins/balls of yarn. All beautiful colors.. mostly variegated with a few solids as well. Incredible.
P and the girls just left for the park. I have the house to myself! Whee!

Friday?
P had to work today. I thought he had taken today as a vacation day. Guess not. No big deal.
His parents and one of his sisters are coming over tomorrow for lunch. The house is wrecked. Toys everywhere. Oy. I just keep resorting and restacking the presents under the tree. The girls got a couple dvds too. We watched "Finding Nemo" last night. Oh my GAWD - it is so damn sad in some scenes that I started to get tears in my eyes. I did love Dory. She was an awesome character and Ellen DeGeneres did a great job with the vocalization of Dory's character. Wow.
The kids didn't get to <i>sleep</i> last night until almost 11pm. We put them <i>IN</i> bed around 930pm. I think they were just so sugared up on dessets and soda and junk. It was SO hard not to completely spaz out and yell at them. They finally got to sleep and P and I were able to watch the end of "The Living Daylights" on Spike TV. I adore James Bond movies. P and I watch them all the time. I think Sean Connery was the BEST Bond but each actor who played Bond did a damned fine job - except <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0493872/">George Lazenby</a>. Ick. Poor bastard - what a crappy script. I need to start collecting the Bond series on dvd.
Well - off to try to relax and listen to Kidz Bop 2. Barf.

I want to take a moment and wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever you might celebrate. Please have a safe and healthy holiday!

Make a grand dinner of hot dogs and tater tot for the kids - doing that now
Still to do:
clean bathroom
finish up laundry
clean off computer desk
make a run to liquor store
Gotta get back to dinner. Bye!
<i>I forgot to mention that P did get out of work early and he picked up his sister at the train station. He is driving her to my inlaws house now. So, that is why dinner is so cheesey tonight.</i>

Christmas Eve morning
Man - I am pooped from last night's wrapfest. The kicker? After all that wrapping, Husband forgot the gifts for my niece and nephew. He was going to drop them off at my inlaws house for them to open tonight. ::sigh:: Oh well.
The girls are playing with their Briarberry bears. I love these bears. They are SO cute! Of course, that means Fisher Price has stopped making them ::sigh:: WHY do they do that??
Oh well, off to read a few more blogs then I have to get crackin' and clean and clean and clean... and bake too!
Posted by Cate at 10:25 AM | Comments (3)
Finished!
P and I wrapped for two hours. We are all finished with the girls' presents. I still have to wrap Mom and Dan's stuff but that's it. I will do that in the morning.

Oops
I realized that I was a gift short for someone - Mom's boyfriend. So, I ran out to TJ Maxx and, amazingly enough, I managed to find something for him. I decided to stop at Pathmark and pick up a couple things I had forgotten to purchase the other day - like soda, napkins, toilet paper - important stuff!
OH! I totally forgot to mention this! I gave my Dad and StepMom their gift - a huge blanket that I crocheted for them. It took me 3 months to do it. It was a lot of work but I really wanted to give them something special. I am pretty sure they liked it. ::grin::

Done for now
I'm back from the butcher shop. I have my Christmas meat ::grin:: It was pretty crowded so I was pretty glad I am able to phone in my order. They rock. The kids conned me into buying them each a small bag of chips and a bottle of soda. Why not? They were thrilled. I usually tell them no. I also grabbed four pounds of fresh sweet sausage (no fennel) for the kids and Husband. I always put it in my sauce - the flavorings are so good! Yum.
Speaking of sauce, Youngestrequested spaghetti, meatballs and sausage for her birthday dinner (12/30). I was also told to make garlic bread too. LOL. Silly kid.
I can't believe my baby is going to be FOUR ::sniffle:: in just a few days.
Posted by Cate at 01:42 PM | Comments (3)
Two days left!
So - are ya ready for some Christmas?? I'm not. Hell, am I ever? Gotta wrap. A lot of things. Urgh.
We are off to the butchers in a little while to pick up my meat (heh). I gotta get my Christmas meat. ::giggling::
Ok - I can't keep this up. I am laughing too hard. I think I need to go yell at Eldest. She's not listening to me.
Bye!

Yikes!
The girls and I went food shopping today. Good LORD! The supermarket was PACKED!! When we finally finished and in line to check out, M pipes up "MOM! We forgot to pick up the cheese from the deli!"
::note - our deli has those electronic order machines so you don't have to wait in line to place your deli order:: ARGH! I was so annoyed but there was NO way I was getting out of line for cheese. So, I will order it from the butcher tomorrow when I order all the cold cuts for Christmas Day. My Mom, her boyfriend, my brother and his girlfriend are coming down Christmas Day. We usually do an all day lunch - deli, cakes, cookies, veggies, etc. Mom is bringing shrimp (EWEWEW) and apple pie. Mmmm. Pie. I am making pumpkin pie too. Plus we will have pumpkin bread and other yummies.
Eldest has tae kwon do today and next Monday. The place will be closed this Wednesday and also on New Year's Eve. Speaking of New Year's Eve, anyone have any plans?? We are going to let Eldest stay up again this year. Heck - she barely made it last year. I will make a HUGE bucket o'popcorn and we can snack all night long. LOL.

Schoooool's OUT!
YAY! I don't have to get up super early during the next two weeks! Well, except Christmas morning. Other than that, the girls will be lucky to eat breakfast by 11am.
Eldest's class party was fun. A few kids were out sick or already starting their vacation. Her teacher, Mrs. S, liked her gift. She opened all her gifts from the kids. She got some really nice things! After the class was dismissed, Eldest, Youngestand I stayed behind to help clean the desks and organize the room. I offered to come in and help her when class was back in session. You know, make copies, sort papers, etc.. She said she might take me up on that offer. I hope so as I would like to get more involved within the school. Hell - maybe even work there.
I am pooped. Dinner is McD's and I will put on a movie for them. If they are well behaved, they can have popcorn too. I have to clean my kitchen and living room. Yikes. I still have things to wrap too. I know that Husband bought my gift from Amazon and it hasn't arrived yet. I could just peek into my account and see what he purchased. But, I have managed to control myself and didn't even peek!
Posted by Cate at 04:56 PM | Comments (4)
Gettin' ready
I finished making the cookies. I even had time to jump into the shower. Trust me - that's a good thing.
I put on a nice new sweater (not Christmasy) and pull on my favorite jeans, fresh from the dryer. OW OW OWWOWOW!! Mother of GAWD - that hurt! Freakin' burning hot rivets and button. JESUS! I think I just branded myself.
::sigh:: Off to school to pick up Miss O. I hope I can sit.

Working fine
I don't kow <i>why</i> the printer made that <a href="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/004439.html#004439">weird noise</a> last night. I guess it had had enough printing for the night. Damn Lexmark. It's working fine now and I am merrily printing out crossword puzzels. Now - all I need to find is a coloring page..
We were running SO late this morning. Oy - the kids moved so slowly it was like they had an achor strapped to EACH leg. Arrrggghhh! I lost my mind and freaked out on them a couple times and felt immediate guilt for doing so. Like it's <i>their</i>fault I woke up late this morning. Needless to say, they are now safe and sound at school. Today is the LAST DAY before winter break. Now I am <strike>stuck</strike> blessed to be home with them for the next three weeks. THREE WEEKS!!!! <B>THREE WEEKS!!!!!</B> Heeeee
I need to bake some cookies for M's class party today. Just some chocolate chips. This way, when O and I come to the class, she has something safe to eat. And she will chow down on these cookies. They are pretty damn delicious too. ::patting myself on the back::
O's teachers opened their gifts this morning. They each got an ornament that we (the girls and I) decorated and another little gift. Pier One had these adorable painted ornaments - <a href="http://www.pier1.com/store/multiproducts.asp?catalog%5Fname=Pier1&category%5Fname=CLASS+Li+Bien+Ornaments&strStoreNavDept=DEPT+Seasonal&strStoreNavClass=CLASS+Li+Bien+Ornaments">Li Bien</a> - and they are gorgeous.
Ok - now I really <i>must</i> go bake. I have wasted enough time! Bye!

Killing my printer
I am printing out activities for Eldest's class to work on tomorrow during the party. So far, I have printed out 25 copies of a Christmas word search and I am in the process of printing out a winter crossword puzzle.
::uh oh::
My printer just made a clunk noise and stopped printing.

Class Party
Youngest's preschool class is having their class party today. The entire class will be performing for all the parents. I have to dig up the camcorder and the digital camera. It's going to be so cute. The preschool has about 45 kids in the program. Luckily, they all don't attend at once. LOL. Youngestgets to eat lunch with her class and I will be in at 1230pm to watch the show. I can't wait! I had better pack some tissues because I know I am going to cry.
Eldest's class party is tomorrow and I am in charge of finding desk activities for them. I am looking for Christmas word searches, crossword puzzles, coloring pages - that type of thing. I am going to make a little 3-4 page booklet for the kids. Plus, I will stop at the Dollar Store and pick up Christmas pencils and stickers for them as well. Oh, maybe I will make cookies too...
Gotta run for now. Catch ya later!

Ace Venture - When Nature Calls
<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112281/">This movie</a> just cracks me up. The rhino birth scene makes me absolutely hysterical to the point of crying. I needed a good laugh today...

I was tossing and turning last night. When I did manage to fall asleep I only jerked my self awake within half an hour. Urgh.
It's gonna be a long day.

Ok - enough whining
Sorry about the whiny ass pity party in the previous post. I hate when I get maudlin and cranky. Oh, and for the record, it has nothing to do with hormones. I didn't have my usual amount of coffee today and I really think it played a major role in my lack of energy and headache. Good think I have sucked down a couple cups to make up for it.
I managed to get some laundry finished, including the H U G E mound of it sitting in the corner of my kitchen. I changed my sheets after reading <a href="http://www.aboutdamntime.net/?a=archives/week_2003_12_14.html#001160">this post</a> from Tracy. I even made dinner. Sausage and homemade tomato sauce. Yum. My house smells delicious.
I think I was feeling overwhelmed with everything I need to accomplish within the next eight days. The pressure of having the right gift for the right person. I really try to think of what the person might like and see if I can purchase it. Of course, I am not buying Cadillacs and BMWs (heh). I hate just giving someone a gift <i>just</i> to give a gift. I know the girls will love their stuff..heck.. and P too. I think I am stressing over the inlaws gifts.
I can't get into it because I don't know if they read this blog. Needless to say, I have become more and more jaded with each passing year. I am fond of them but sometimes I feel like I just don't fit in the family - even after 15 years.
Arrgghhh - enough whining!

::sigh::
Just feelin' sorry for myself today. I have a headache that won't quit and a ton of laundry to wash/fold/put away.
Feh.

Shopping
Well- we made it back in one piece. I managed to find a couple things for my father in law. Not an easy job. I hope I did ok. I didn't buy him anything from Pier One ::lol:: I don't think he'd be interested in that kind of stuff.

C-C-Christmas C-C-Caroling
MAN - it was cold tonight! But, the girls that DID show up (Moms - thanks for not calling and telling me your daughter wasn't coming) had a great time. Did I mention that it was cold?? Brrrr! They loved the cookies and hot chocolate afterwards. The seniors that wanted to hear the kids enjoyed it as well. I am glad we did do it. I did have Bonkos tonight but ended up cancelling last night. I didn't know how long we would be out caroling. Turns out I could have made it anyway. Oh well.
Is anyone else watching "King of the Jungle" on Animal Planet? I am annoyed I got hooked on a "reality" tv show. Now I have to see which idiot wins!
::spoiler:::
I cannot believe that Kelly won. God - she is annoying!

Christmas Caroling
The troop and I are going caroling tonight at one of the senior communities. I hope to God that we are singing in their clubhouse instead of walking around the neighborhood. It's going to be 28 degrees!! Yikes!

Finally!
Ugh! I had one helluva time getting online this morning. Well, better late than never...
The girls got to school on time (yay!). After I had breakfast, I wrapped gifts for two hours. I still have quite a bit to finish. Plus, a lot of stuff is at Mom's place for storage. What I did manage to wrap is now packaged up in the attic. I have to be careful and make sure I hide the wrapping paper as well. One year, M noticed that the paper we used to wrap P's guft was the same as Santa's paper for them. Ooops. I don't know HOW I managed to weasel out of that situation but it wasn't mentioned again.
Speaking of paper - Do any of you guys wrap all the gifts for one person with the same paper? I like doing that but P does not. So, we wrap all the girls' gifts using anywhere from four to six different kinds of wrapping paper.

Restful afternoon
Husband was called into work this morning - at 4am. Ugh. He didn't get back home until 930am-ish. We have had the news on all morning and the early part of the afternoon. He finally crashed out for a nap in the bedroom. I made some popcorn and put on Black Beauty for the girls. Eldest is fascinated with horses. I am sick of hearing about them but I tolerate it for her sake. She takes out a bunch of horse books from the library and writes down facts and information about each breed. Oy. She asked for a horse and stables for Christmas!!
God help me.

Great day
We had a lovely day today. We did have plans to go here but since my inlaws and niece got sick, it got a last minute cancellation last night. The girls didn't even know we had even planned the event so there was no disappointment.
We had a late breakfast - I made waffles and pancakes. Life is good. LOL. We cleaned up a bit then decided to go to K-mart. The girls wanted to buy my Christmas present. I dropped Husband and the girls at K-mart and zipped over to the library and the bank AND made it back within 25 minutes. I found them wandering around with some stuff in the cart. After P paid, we drove over to Atlantic Books and walked through it. Husband had never been inside this store. After that, we wandered through Pier One. I love that place. Next stop, Pathmark and then back home.
We had some lunch and then sorta lazed around the house, surfing the tv and the net. I made dinner (meatloaf, rice, broccoli, gravy) and we are just relaxing. I am hoping to get the kids in bed on time tonight so we can start wrapping. It's gonna be a lot of work. Ugh. But, it will pay off for the kids. I hope they like all their stuff!

Friday Finale
The Girl Scout meeting was a lot of fun today. The girls exchanged their gifts and had a ton of junk food. Ahh - lots and lots of sugar! As you can probably guess, the girls were wired beyond belief. Heh.
When we got back home, I had approximately 20 minutes to get things in order to go back out for a school chorus event at our town hall. I preheated the oven for him and O. P came home 15 minutes later, I grabbed M and we were out the door by 520pm. We made it to town hall in 11 minutes. Not bad at all.
We met up with the rest of her classmates and music teacher. I stood in the cold for 40 minutes. Oy. Cold to the bone. The program was nice. The high school ROTC marched out with the flags and there were musicians that played the national anthem. Then, our mayor spoke for a few minutes (blah blah blah) then introduced the councilmembers. ::yawn:: The band played for 15 minutes or so then the kids came out to sing. When they were done, the mayor introduced Santa, who made his grand entrance on a fire truck.
I let M choose where to eat dinner and she chose Wendys. We ate then made it back home by 730pm. Watched some tv, stuffed the kidlets into bed around 930pm and here I am.
<a href="http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0104299/">Freejack</a> is on HBO. Lordy, what a cheesy movie. Speaking of cheesy movies, what is YOUR favorite cheesy movie?

14 gift bags are done!
Each bag contains:
1 8x11 notebook (Lisa Frank, Lizzie McGuire - girly looking)
1 red gel pen
1 candy cane
2 penicls - one holiday and one Girl Scout logo
2 pencil erasures
1 red sparkly crocheted ponytail
I made an extra for one of the leader's five year old who attends all the meetings.
Well - off to package everything up for transporting. Yikes!

One last post before I leave
I <a href="http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=catenj&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50">listed two MicroTrains</a> on eBay. They are the state cars and are highly collectible. P was going to have two sets of all cars - one to run and one to sell as a completed set with all fifty cars and the engine. He decided not to finish the second set and sell the extra cars. I listed the cars on Saturday and they got bids immediately. Both cars are now no longer available so they are in high demand.
Some dorko emails me this morning with this gem:
DON'T YOU THINK YOUR PRICE IS CARZY. IF YOU WANT TO SELL IT TO ME FOR $25.00. AT LEST THAT'S A FAIR PRICE. YOU CAN E-MAIL ME AT [deleted]
and this one:
DON'T YOU THINK YOUR PRICE IS A LITTLE CRAZY. IF YOU WANT TO SELL IT TO ME FOR $25.OO E-MAIL ME AT [deleted]
<i>at least he corrected the typos in this one</i>
This is my reply:
Potential buyers bid it up the price. I cannot end an auction early with
bids already placed. I suggest you look at other options for these trains.
****ing moron.

Back out again
I have to go back to Michaels to pick up another skein of yarn. The Lion Brand Wool-Ease is great. It crochets up very nicely. I need to see if I can make any additional copies of the pictures I took last night as well as their school pics.
The entire second grade will be singing tonight in a Christmas Winter concert. Eldest is very nervous about it. Poor kid - she gets SO worked up before anything actually happens.
I'll be back.

December 07, 2003
Good evening!
Lovely but busy day.
I was teaching Sunday School this morning so we got to church by 930am. Urgh. I am SO not a morning person. Anyway, SS went very well, the kids were great. We got back home and Husband had cleaned up the living room and put all the empty Christmas boxes back in the attic. We had started cleaning up and organizing papers when Eldest got a phone call, inviting her over to a friend's house for a couple hours. She was so happy when I said ok! She ate her lunch and got all her snow gear packed. Snowpants, 2 prs gloves, hat, coat and boots. She and her friend were going to play out in the snow. These two have known each other since they were three years old. E has been in the same class as Eldest ever since! I have a feeling that next year things might change.
Anyway....
Eldest left around 130pm. Youngestplayed all day. Husband and I paid bills and did some more Christmas shopping. Eldest has wanted a horn ever since her last one "disappeared" when she was four. Every damn year, she would look at all her gifts and sigh. "I still didn't get a horn Mommy", she would say. Well- the guilt has finally caught up to me this year so we bought her a damn horn AND a recorder from this site. Youngestgot a recorder and a small drum. God help me.
Anyway, Husband is back home from picking up Eldest. Gotta run and finish dinner!

December 05, 2003
Finally!
We had a great time in Scouts today. The girls made icicle ornaments and one of the assistant leaders read a book about Hanukkah. We decided to have our Christmas/Holiday party next week instead of the 19th, which is their last day for Christmas break. We figured class parties and general craziness would be happening that day. We are also going to exchange gifts - a grab bag gift of $10.00. They enjoyed it last year and I hope it is as much fun this year.
After the meeting, the girls and I went to Wal-Mart. There was a McD's in the store and that's what they wanted for dinner. I had also planned to shop but I couldn't find anything I had wanted!
Shocking, I know. So, we came back home and decorated the tree. Of course, Youngestwas ready to stop after half an hour. Frankly, I am surprised she lasted that long. Eldest hung in there for a little while longer and also bailed out.
Husband was at Mom's place, hooking up the computer. She is now the proud owner of a new HP system and ::drumroll please:: a cable modem! Woohoo! She likes the way it is running and was amazed at just how much faster the pages load. Praise Jesus.
Husband is on his way home. There was about 6" of snow at Mom's house but none down by me. I heard that we will get hit tonight and there will be snow by morning. Yippie. Not.

And - we're off!
O and I are off to the Girl Scout meeting. Luckily, it's not snowing. Yet.
P will be stopping at Mom's place, setting up her computer. She did end up with the HP - ordered it herself. To the charming person (you know who you are) who offered to help with the computer - Thank you so much for your offer. You are sweet ::smooches::

Feelin' fine
Well - you'd never know she was sick. She is just bouncing around the house. She is having a "pajama day" but I will change her before we go to the bus stop. Of course, I had wanted to go food shopping while she was in school but that didn't happen. So, I get to go tonight. Ick.
I have managed to get a lot of laundry done. I still have to change M's sheets. Great. I get to climb up on that loft bed and roll around on it, tucking in the corners of the fitted sheet. Wheee! That is the one disadvantage of a loft bed. God help me if she gets sick in it. Ohhh man - the thought grosses me out completely. Bleeeech.
Back to the grind!
:::<i>update</i>::: she now has a 101.3 fever. She got another dose of Motrin and an ice pop. She is still pretty perky. I don't know how she does it.

Be vewwy vewwy qwiet
O woke up at 430am, complaining about her throat. I had her drink from her sipcup of water and lay back down. She was pretty much out of it.. sleepy.. so I thought.
At 6am, P goes into her room after she calls out to us. He takes her temp - 102.5. ****. He loads her up with Motrin, gives her ice water and turned on the light to let her read in bed. She conked out within 15 minutes and is still asleep now.
I woke up M and she managed to actually get dressed and not cause any trouble this morning. I called my neighbor and she brought M to the bus stop for me. She is the BEST. Her son, N, and M play together all the time. They are good people.
Now, I have to keep an eye on the little miss and see what is going on with her throat. Ever since <a href="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/004289.html">P's illness</a> from a couple weeks ago, I have been watching the kids like a hawk. Every sniffle, every sneeze, every cough. Yuck.
I need a vacation.

Arrrggghhhhh!
I just listened to Jessica Simpleton and her dumb-ass husband butcher up Silent Night. Well -ok - it wasn't <i>completely</i> butchered but I HATE when a lot of singers (mainly women) have to throw in extra scales into the actual song. Silent Night does not need any additional arpeggios thankyouverymuch. I just wished I could have slapped her instead. Ugh.

Hall Closet
I am now avoiding writing out my holiday cards cleaning out my hall closet. It's slightly narrow and all my sheets and other "stuff" don't quite fit well. So, I decided to reorganize it.
I think my closet is a black hole. Things go in and never come out. I have found 4 gifts for people that I completely forgot I even purchased for Christmas. LAST Christmas! The bonus - I got rid of some old sheets, refolded some blankets and it looks much more organized now.
I did find some very pretty tableclothes, pillowcases and runners that my Grandmother cross-stitched for me. She gave them to me the Christmas before she passed away. I got all weepy when I found them. I am afraid to put them out and use them. I know she would want me to use them but I can't bear the thought of them getting stained or damaged. It literally makes me sick to my stomach to to even think about it. Oh hell - I am all weepy again...

Funny
I forgot to mention this when writing about our NYC trip.
When we were walking through the street festival, there was a vendor there selling specialty yarn - all made from their home/farm. They owned the sheep, dyed the yarn, etc. As I was walking past the display, I said "Oooh! Yarn!" and slowed down to take a look. M said "MOM! You have ENOUGH yarn at HOME! NO MORE YARN!" and dragged me away. LOL! What a smart-ass!

Bright and early - for me
I hate mornings. Such an evil price to pay for having fun at night.
My friend <a href="http://www.cumberlandblues.blogspot.com/">Chris</a> and her mom are stopping here to visit this morning around 11am. Yay! I met Chris on a Jersey moms online message board on AOL in 1997. I had *just* had M. I thought she had a cool screen name and emailed her. We have been friends ever since. Her mom lives about 20-30 minutes away from me so I see Chris a few times a year.
Off to take the beastie to school. Later!

Good Morning - Part II
Ok - I have a few moments to write - we have to leave for tae kwon do in 20 minutes!
As I was writing earlier, the zoo was a lot of fun. It's small but there are penguins, polar bears, monkeys, red pandas (that look like red raccoons), a rain forrest building full of birds (PU), a bat display (ewwww!) and a very cool ant display. You were able to see inside the anthill and watch the papercutter ants work. Pretty freakin' impressive if you ask me. Oh, the sea lions were cute too!
We were in the zoo for over an hour. Then, the wind picked up and it got noticably colder. We hopped a cab and headed back to Tim's place. He had picked up some chicken for the girls. He put that in the oven to cook. P stayed with the girls while Tim and I walked to Au Bon Pain for sandwiches for dinner. Yummy!
After we ate, we walked up to Washington Square Park to check out some kind of street festival. Man - it was chilly! The vendors were all in red and white striped tents selling all kinds of things - candles, knitted items, incense, Christmas items/ornaments. Plus, there is a farmers market set up there every weekend. Fruit, vegetables, meat, cider, grains, flowers, Chirstmas trees .. all looking and smelling great!
We walked for about 30 minutes before we started to get pretty cold so we walked back home. The girls watched some of Harry Potter before we left to go home. We got totally stuck at the Holland Tunnel - having to wait 30 minutes to travel less than one mile. Arrrggghhh!!! But, once we got through that, it was smooth sailing driving all the way home. We stopped once for a bathroom break. We didn't get home until 930pm. Then, the girls wanted a snack.. blah blah blah... but they were in bed by 1010pm. Husband and I conked out while watching the James Bond marathon.
So - that was our NYC trip. I will put up pics later tonight..I hope. Now, it's off to tae kwon do. Ciao!

Good MORNING
Ahhh - the kids are at school, I just ate a delicious breakfast while listening to traditional Christmas music on Yahoo's LAUNCHcast. Right now it's playing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" from A Charlie Brown Christmas. I have also heard Perry Como, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, The Three Tenors... I love it.
Our NYC trip rocked! It was so much fun. We hit the road by 9am and made it to Tim's place by 1115am. As we were driving up the NJ Turnpike, the girls and I were watching all the planes taking off and landing at Newark International Airport. In fact, one was landing just as we drove under an underpass and it seemed like it was RIGHT THERE. The kids loved it. We were having so much fun watching the airplanes that we missed the exit for the Holland Tunnel. Ooops!
We took the Lincoln Tunnel instead. We still made excellent time. Too bad we didn't take the Lincoln on the way home (foreshadowing here folks).
After we got to Tim's place (near Washingtion Square park in midtown), we hung out and chatted with him and his charming girlfriend. She is just really vey nice and I enjoy chatting with her. She wasn't feeling well so when we left to start our jaunt around NYC, she went home. I hope she is feeling better..
We started out with a cab ride to FAO Schwartz. Holy CRAP - it was freakin' packed. LINES to go inside! Gee - I can't imagine WHY it was so crowded on a holiday weekend. We wandered around for about half an hour before I decided to say the hell with it and we bailed out of there ASAP. The girls, of course, wanted to buy everything they saw, even the $10,000 stuffed white tiger. Uhhhhh... no.
After that, we strolled over to the Plaza Hotel which is across the street. I would LOVE to stay over one night and see the Christmas show at Radio City Music hall. ::sigh:: If I only had $900 to blow on a hotel room.... Anyway, I wanted to see if we could to see the Elosie portrait. There were security guards at the main entrance. Apparently, the tourists were only allowed to tour inside from 8am-9am and 8pm-9pm. So much for that idea. The kids were a little bummed (not as much as I) but quickly got over it when they saw all the hansom carriages taking people around Central Park. Tim wanted to have us ride in one but there was a huge line for that too. So, we walked around Central Park, watched the skaters and then visited the Central Park Zoo.
I have to go get Olivia. I will write more when I get back! Bye!
