Funny

While we were eating dinner tonight, P was telling the girls how tough his parents were when he was M's age. Listing all his chores and jobs, how is parents' didn't put up with any nonsense (and still don't). M pipes up "Wow, I guess I really do have an easy life". I almost fell off the chair. P and I laughed and laughed. Of course, the girls cracked up laughing too because P and I were laughing so hard.
She's such a smart-ass!

Checked Up

Well - everything is in the right place and in proper working order. All that was missing, at the end of the appointment, was that quick flick of the wrist with a towel for a nice shine. SNAP! LOL.
Luckily, that didn't happen.

Going to the doctor

I have a doctor's appointment today. Yes. For <i>me</i>. I have been lax on my annual exams. With both my parents being ill, I decided that I had better move my substantial ass and get back to the doc. Ooooh boy, I can't wait. Ugh. I hate going. Plus, I will also be seeing a new ob-gyn so I am a little nervous.
I think I need more coffee.

Monday

Did ya'll miss me? I never even posted yesterday. We had a BBQgraduation party to attend. It was fun - I got a chance to see my friend that I haven't seen in 7 years. It's a good thing I called that night before - we didn't really have a chance to sit and talk during the party. I saw her whole family and it was very nice to see them again. It's amazing how much changes in 7 years. My friend's boys are now 14 and 11. The older boy will be going out for the football team!! M and O played with 3 other little girls and my friend's younger son. They had a blast. We finally left at 845pm.
Of course, the girls were hungry so we stopped at McD's for a couple orders of fries and some bottled water. At this point, I had a massive headache. The ride was uneventful. We got the girls all cleaned up and into bed by 1030pm! I was in bed by 11pm. I thought I was going to throw up, my head hurt so much. I am not sure what caused the headache. It could have been the lack of water, too much cigarette smoke, lack of coffee/caffeine or the 2 Heinekins I had to drink. Or, even a combination of them all.
Anyway - I am home and in 1 piece. I was even able to bring home some homemade ziti and eggplant parm!! See you around.

Saturday

Busy busy busy!

We (P) worked on the pool and the pump. The pool is still a light shade of green. It looks a helluva lot better that it did a few days ago! We still need to buy a ladder ::sigh:: Hopefully this week!
I had run out to Home Depot to pick up some stuff - sand, foam sealer, floor leveler mix, a plant, pot, filter fabric... yadda yadda. On my way home, there was an accident. It looked like a Corvette tried to dart out and beat some cars. And missed. BIG time. While I was waiting in traffic, I was watching the people in the Jeep in front of me. The woman, in the front passenger seat, was leaning over her seat, obviously rummaging around for something. She must have found what she was looking for because she sat back in her seat. Traffic is still at a standstill. I watched, horrified, as this woman raised her arm up in the air and proceed to SHAVE HER PITS!!! EW EW EW!!! Now I know what she was looking for in the back seat. ::gag:: After she shaved the one pit, she tapped the razor on the edge of the window and then she shaved the other pit. What a class act.
<a href="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/002765.html"target=_blank>Remember my post about attempting to reconnect with a former friend?</a> Well, we have been emailing back and forth for about a month. She invited us to her eldest son's 8th grade graduation party tomorrow. I called her tonight to confirm details and we were on the phone for an hour and a half! I am looking forward to seeing her again. I look a lot different than I did seven years ago. I am frickin' huge ::sigh:: Oh well, I have to jump start this big ass into gear. Whee!
I am going to try to catch up on some blogs. G'night ya'll!

Home - for good

M was upset about leaving her first grade teacher. But, as I pointed out this morning, she was upset about leaving her kindergarten teacher too. I said that she would have never met Mrs. B (first grade teacher) if she didn't leave Mrs. F's kindergarten) class. She stopped crying, thought for a moment and simply said "Oh!" LOL! Silly kid.
She passed everything, of course. She got AP (advanced proficient) in reading and mathematics. I know who her teacher is for next year. I hear she is very good and is very involved in reading. We shall see in September. We have a meeting scheduled for September 2nd at 10am to meet with her. I like that!
As for me, I dumped most of my gift certificate at Fashion Bug. I picked out 2 pairs of shorts, 2 tops and a pair of platform type sandals - Dr Scholz style. I know I know... but I caved. I HAD to have them. Besides, I had a real pair of Dr Scholz when I was around 10. I loved them.
I also stopped at Payless and bought a pair of black dressy slides - very Hilde-esque with pointy toes and all. I can wear them to church with pants or a skirt.

Off to make the kids clean. See ya later!

LAST DAY!!

WOOHOO!
And - to celebrate, I'm going shopping! Gonna hit Fashion Bug to shop. Mom gave me a gift card for my birthday. Gee - is that a hint? LOL!

Five Phrases

Five phrases men need to save their relationship (according to the <a href="http://www.barsky.com/index2.htm"target=_blank>Barsky Show</a>):

"There ya go"
"I don?t know what to tell ya"
"What?"
"I?m sorry"
"I didn?t know"

Damn Pool

More pool problems.

I picked up the replacement part this morning. Cool. Everything is hunky freakin' dory. The newest problem - the wrong size pool hose (1 1/2" - we need 1 1/4") and, ironically after getting the electrial inspection, the cord for the new pump is too short. ::sigh:: I know P will fix it but this is getting freakin' ridiculous!

Gifts

These are the frames I assembled last night. All I had to do was attach the class picture and a backing.

<img alt="classframes.JPG" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/classframes.JPG" width="448" height="336" border="0" />

This is M's frame:

<img alt="mckframe.JPG" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/mckframe.JPG" width="352" height="264" border="0" />

The flowers and pots for the bus driver and helper:

<img alt="flowers.JPG" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/flowers.JPG" width="370" height="250" border="0" />

I forgot to take pictures of M's teacher's gift. The pots were very pretty and we planted a miniature rose and a miniature mum. Mrs. B loved them.

Last two days of school

The frantic rush for teacher gifts. We are giving M's teacher two plants, already potted in pretty flowerpots. O's teachers are getting candles. M has an awesome bus driver so she is getting an African violet, potted in a decorative flowerpot.
Guess what I'll be doing tonight? Yep - potting plants!

Damn Pool

Damn Pool. MF'ing DP.
We finally found what we needed - at Branch Brook. There was another one, also for sale, for $30 more. Unfortunately, the power went out in the store when P arrived. He sat in the parking lot and waited. He vowed he wasn't leaving without the filter. From 430pm to 6pm, he waited. Finally, the power came back on and he was able to purchase the crap we needed. He gets home, drags all the stuff out of the truck (for work, he's on call this week), hauls it to the backyard, opens the boxes, pulls out some parts and finds the hose connecting the control valve and pump is broken. It's goddamn broken. The fittings were cracked.. lots of little pieces. I thought he was going to have a stroke. The pool has become a frigging HUGE pain in the ass. He called the pool store and one of the guys in parts said he could just bring back the broken part and exchange.
P wasn't about to take any more chances. He packed everything back up in the box and loaded it in the back of my car, just in case. You can damn well bet I will be getting a new hose tomorrow. I want this damn pool operational ASAP!

Bedtime!

The girls are in bed. Thank God for small favors. Things went well at VBS "class". All the volunteers made a shirt to wear. Myabe I'll take a picture of mine. The "theme" is Rancho Roundup - "Where the good sheperd leads kids baa-ck home!" Oy. Anyway - it should be fun. Perhaps volunteering for this will help get my ass into heaven.. yeah.. maybe..
M earned a yellow stripe on her white belt tonight! I missed it!! She did her form - Kibon Hyong. I can't wait to see her do it on Thursday. She will be having a belt test sometime soon.
O "graduates" tomorrow. You can bet I'll have that camcorder and camera at the ready!
Off to read some blogs - see ya later.

Peace and Quiet

The girls and P are off at tae kwon do class and I am home. Alone. Unfortunately, no wild parties for me. I have to go to a meeting at 7pm about VBS (vacation bible school). I am going to be an arts and crafts helper. Should be fun, I hope. VBS doesn't start until 7/7 so I have some time. It only runs a week. M loves going. She has a couple church buddies so she will have a great time. As for me, maybe I'll get some cool craft tips!
I think I am going to jump in the shower. Later!

edited to add - I was told the inspection would be anywhere from 9am - 2pm. Lucky me! I supposed I COULD do laundry while I wait. Yuck.</i>

Ugh

We worked out in the yard for a little while this morning. The pool filter (full of sand) cracked. Damn. We decided we needed to purchase a new filter/pump combination. We found what we were looking for at Branch Brook Pools - about 40 minutes from the house. We load up the kids and, after dining at McD's for lunch, head to the pool place. They are sold out of the pump we need. GodDAMN it. We drove ALL over and stopped at no less than 5 other pool supply stores. NOTHING. Oh wait, the last place we stopped had one - for <b>three times</b> the price of the BranchBrook filter/pump set. **** no.
We are all tired and cranky today. I am so pissed about the filter. The ****ing inspector is coming tomorrow to finish the final pool inspection...somewhere between 9am and 2pm. ARGH!

Home from the hospital

We're back! Everything went just right. The nurses all fussed over O, she loved it. They let her take her surgery cap and johnny gown home. O also wanted to take home the mask and tube from when she got the gas. They said no problem. LOL. Goofy kid.
She's a little cranky and was feeling a little uncomfortable after the procedure. They gave her some Tylenol before she left and hopefully it will kick in pretty soon.

End of the weekend

Wow - this weekend just passed so quickly!
Didn't do too much today. P mowed the yard - again. With all this rain, it's unbelieveable how fast the grass is growing. It's a good thing he finished early as it started to rain by mid-afternoon.
M is excited about this being the last week of school - all half days. O has her ear tube procedure tomorrow morning. We have to be at the hospital by 730am. Luckily, our neighbor will be taking M to the bus stop for us. She is the best - I just love her!
Gosh - I don't have too much to say. I watched the season premiere of Sex and the City, I really like that show. Miranda is my favorite. I felt so bad for her in this episode. I won't say any more in case someone from the West Coast is reading this!
I'll let you guys know how O's procedure went tomorrow when we get back home!

Posted by Cate at 10:03 PM | Comments (1)

I finished it

MAN! What a good ending. Ok - someone else finish it so we can talk about it!

Hullo

Still hanging in there. Mom is in a lot more pain today. I think all the good drugs have worn off. She is taking percosets and vicoden as well as her other medications and is still having pain. I changed the dressing this morning. I was nervous about what the wound would look like under the bandages. Luckily, it wasn't bad - just two small holes on each side of her kneecap. I will probably be leaving here around 330pm and heading home. I miss everyone!

Well, everything is set for tomorrow. Mom has to be at the hospital by 9am. I am bringing my crochet project with me. I am making a blanket for Mom.

P, I miss you sweetie. I love you.

Holy Exhaustion!

I *just* got home from M's school about 25 minutes ago. I had so much fun but I am so tired. I didn't think I would be there for 5 hours. I planned on two hours, three tops. I still have so much to do today. Mom is having her knee surgery tomorrow morning. I will be sleeping at her place tonight so I need to set up things <i>here</i> to make life easier for P. He doesn't really know the morning routine. I haven't packed or anything!
I'll blog from my Mom's place later.
Bye!

Today is M's class party. It's pouring rain outside. Lovely.

The cookies are made - all 5 dozen of them. The kids will be making leis using silk flowers (thank you Hilde from Trading Spaces for the idea), crowns for the boys, hair combs for the girls, grass skirts using crepe paper and masking tape, picture frames using popsicle sticks, beads and foam shapes and, last but not least, coloring pages featuring beach/ocean things.
I have to get dressed and start packing. I need to run to WalMart to get more stuff! Bye!!

Allergist

The girls' had an appointment with their allergist today. I love this guy - he is SO on the ball. He actually ::gasp:: LISTENS to me. Imagine that. A mom that is able to accurately describe her child's health problems AND be taken seriously. Christ - some doctors really suck. Maybe it's me. I doubt it. I like doctors to discuss treatments <i>with</i> me, not just scribble out a prescription after a 10 second evaluation. It is so frustrating. I know I must come off as a crazy mom but I don't goddam care. I hate the fact I have to give my girls medicine. I wish they didn't have to take them. Wishing won't make it go away. I will find out the best way to have them treated. I can't even find a pediatrician that I like. I think it is important that *I* like them and I am comfortable with them too. There was one doctor the girls had that was wonderful. The girls loved her. We loved her. She left the practice to have a baby and that was the end of her. ::sigh::
Well - off to tae kwon do. Bye!

Well - we made it back in one piece. We stopped at Target to get <a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com"target=_blank>P</a> a birthday present. It's a 7 game set - checkers, chess, backgammon, chinese checkers, mancala, tic tac toe, solitaire and pass out (no clue what that game is). I haven't played chess in <i>years</i> and I also want to learn (again) how to play backgammon.
Tonight's menu:

Monday

Good afternoon!

The usual routine going on here. I got a call from one of M's class moms. I am going to help with a class party on Wednesday. I think Becki didn't disconnect the call. My hosue phone is DEAD. I called the phone company to see if there were any problems in the area. None. The woman at the phone company suggested that I check the at the box where the line comes into the house. Works just fine. Grrr. I have been trying to call Becki using MY cell phone and she's not answering/available.
In other news, the new puter is set up and running. Too bad I can't get on the net. I would use dial up until P runs CAT5 cable to our bedroom. I can't get online due to the problems with the phone. DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!
M has a half day today. When she gets home, we are going to the pool place and running some other errands.
Gotta go!

Home Improvements

<a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com/">P</a> and I are (once again) discussing how we can improve and add more space to our house. We came up with possible solution - add a master bedroom and bathroom to the back of the house, make part of the dining room a utility room, eliminate the current bathroom and add that to my kitchen space, move M into our (old) bedroom, move O to M's old room and split O's bedroom - adding 1/2 to M's old room and making a bigger closet and the other half would become a new full bathroom. Hmm - I think I need to call my mortgage company and see how much we can borrow!
Well - off to read some blogs!

Opening the pool

P and I have been spending the day opening the pool. Ugh. I hate this part. He has been really good about making sure that water doesn't build up on the cover. We have had so much rain lately that there was probably 6 inches of water in it. Of course, it was full of smelly leaves and acorns. He started the siphon and we raked off as much crap as possible. PU. The stuff we pulled off smelled like ass. Dirty ass. By the time we pulled off the cover, I was gagging from the stench. All the **** that was left on the cover got dumped on my grass ::sigh:: We raked that crap up and then saturated that area with fresh water from the hose. I hope we didn't kill the grass!
I dragged the cover off to the side of the yard and hosed it off. The kids kepy wandering by so I started blasting them with the hose. They would run away, screaming but they kept coming on back! They got soaked. LOL! It was fun. When I was done with the cover, I had to get dry clothes for the kids. I made 'em strip down on the deck and cleaned 'em up as much as possible. The ran off, in clean dry clothes, with bits of grass and dirt stuck to them. Heh. Dopey kids.
We are BBQ'ing again tonight. I have too many leftovers. P is thrilled. He loves bugers and hot dogs anyway. Woohoo! Easy cooking tonight. His gift from the girls is 8 new t-shirts (all different colors) and a new tape measure. He hasn't opened them yet.
Well - gotta go!

Mom and I exchanged gifts today. She also brought gifts for P since his birthday is Monday. She gave us a several gift certificates for Home Depot. I also got a gift certificate for Fashion Bug, a cute little frog for my garden and a bathing suit (YIKES!). Thanks Mommy! **smooches** Gail, who is my Mom's friend and one of the nicest people ever, gave me 5 skeins of yarn, a bag for carrying crochet work and a notebook with copies of her favorite crochet patterns. I was so incredibly touched by her gift. She is awesome.
Everyone left by 5pm. P decided to mow the lawn and the girls stayed outside with him. I puttered around the house, doing dishes, running the dishwasher, packing up leftovers.. all that fun post party crap.
I brought the girls in and they each got baths. They were pretty damn stinky and sticky and just plain old dirty! I popped Treasure Planet in the dvd player AND made popcorn, at the girls' request. Has anyone seen Treasure Planet? I thought it sucked. After the dvd was over, I turned on the tv and found "Attack of the Clones" on HBO. The kids begged to watch it. Sure.. why not?
They just got in bed. Life is good. Robin Williams is on HBO. Woohoo!

Party's Over

Well - the BBQ is over. Thank goodness there was no rain. I am so stuffed right now ::groan:: I cooked burgers and hot dogs on the grill. We also had veggie platter, chips, tortilla chips and salsa, potato salad (which was REALLY good AND dairy free) and pasta salad. For dessert, apple and pumpkin pie, zuchini cake and watermelon. ::burp:: Everything was delicious!
I have a ton of leftovers. Anyone hungry?

Friday Evening

I had a lovely but busy day today.
After I picked O up from school, we came back home and had a quick lunch. We had to be back at M's school by 130pm for another assembly, Character Counts. M won an award for "Citizenship". I have no idea <i>how</i> she won it but she was so excited about it! I brought her home with me, letting her slip out of school for the rest of the afternoon. Yeah, it was only an hour but she was pretty excited about that too!
We stopped at Blockbuster and rented <i>Jonah - a Veggie Tales Movie, Treasure Planet and The Wiggles - Wiggle Bay</i>. They watched the Veggie Tales movie, which had some damn funny outtakes, and The Wiggles. My brother sent a lovely bouquet of flowers in a beautiful Waterford vase. He is a doll! I made dinner (salisbury steaks) and we had a pretty quiet evening.
The kids are finally in bed. I am going to finish cleaning the house in order to prepare for company tomorrow. Just a few people, including my Mom and her boyfriend.
A HUGE thank you to all my wonderful friends out in "Blogville". You have really made this day very special for me. I love you guys! **smooches**

Wow!

Oh my gosh! Thank you all so very much for the birthday emails, wishes, cards and comments. You guys are too much. I am so very touched. I don't even know what to say ::sniffle::

I did buy myself a present -

<img alt="emachine.jpg" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/emachine.jpg" width="215" height="215" border="0" />

<a href=" http://www.geoffrey-allen.com"target=_blank>Geoffrey</a> had suggested that it would be cheaper to build my own. I should have asked him from whom! I suppose I could always return the e-machine. I don't know of any wholesalers - just places like Microwarehouse (ugh ugh ugh), PC Connections, Tiger Direct, etc.
I have to do some food shopping for the BBQ we are having tomorrow. Today is also my Mom's birthday. Could she have gotten a better present? I think not! LOL

Fighting

M and O have been fighting since we walked in the door 20 minutes ago. Isn't this a load of friggin' fun? M has tae kwon do in an hour so it's all I can do to keep them separated. I swear, they <i>gravitate</i> towards each other.

Posted by Cate at 04:03 PM | Comments (1)

Games

O and I must have played "Memory" at least 4 times. ::yawn:: She loves it. It's actually M's game. It consists of approximately 48 small wood tiles. We just mix 'em up and place them face down on the floor. O has so much fun playing it. She yells and laughs when she gets a match. It's pretty funny to watch.

Hazy and Humid

Urgh.. too damn hot outside. I have my A/C set for "Meat Locker"

Hack and Wheeze

I think I have bronchitis. I sound (and feel) like I have been smoking for 20 years. Ugh. When I exhale with some force, it sounds like a train's whistle. Maybe I should call my doctor. Oh, speaking of doctor, I got my referral for bloodwork! Yippie. I get to see how high my cholesterol levels have become.
I skipped the gym because any time I move faster that a quick walk, I start coughing. What fun.
And, like the big moron I am, I stayed up too late watching "Death to Smoochy". Again. I love that movie.

Grrr

Comcast was down for a few hours tonight. So, now I can finally get back online!

Posted by Cate at 11:06 PM | Comments (1)

???

It's getting harder and harder to think up witty titles to my mundane posts. Sorry for not even trying tonight. ::grin::

M <i>finally</i> has a loose tooth. Hallejullah! I noticed it tonight when I was flossing her teeth. I had put a little pressure on the tooth and she flinched. I looked up at her, concerned, and noticed a H U G E grin starting to spread across her face. "My tooth is loose! My tooth is loose!" she shrieked. She flew out of the bathroom to show P, who confirmed it. She has not one, but two teeth growing right behind her two bottom front teeth. She is SO excited! I hope they come out soon. She was so upset that all her friends have lost teeth and she didn't even have any that were loose.
I took the girls to WalMart after M got out of school. We picked up some things for P's birthday and Father's Day gift. I'll try to write more later. Bye!

Errands

G'day!

I was not really in the mood to blog last night. <a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com">P</a> did make it home by 745pm. Poor guy - between having this awful cold, not getting enough sleep and working a bunch of OT, I know he is exhausted.
M got in big trouble this morning. I had sent her into the bathroom to brush her teeth before school. O comes out and says that M threw something at Darla (our cat). I go back to check on her, I find out that she threw two hairbrushes and a comb at the cat! AND, the cat wasn't even bothering her. She claimed that the cat was "bothering her". Sure. Right. Needless to say, she got in BIG trouble. I was going to take her to the library after school. Not anymore. She got all upset and burst into tears. Too frickin' bad kid.
After we drove M to school, O and I headed back home to do a couple things around the house. I called Bruno's and ordered our weekly deli order and breakfast sausage. We left the house shortly after that. I got stuck behind a woman who was, judging by the inablility to stay in her lane, chatting on her cell phone. She was weaving back and forth in her Ford Explorer, driving at 50+ mph. It galls me when people just insist on doing multiple things while operating their vehicle, especially if they cannot <i>control</i> their vehicle! I eventually caught up and passed her when the road split into two lanes. Yup, chatting away on her phone. ::eyeroll::
Well, O and I will be going to M's school in a little while. There will be a Reading for Excellence assembly and reading awards will be given out to all the kids. I have check on my camcorder. See ya later!

Messy

P is still at work - he should be home soon.

The girls had tacos for dinner. I threw them outside afterwards and gave them ice pops for dessert. Lordy, talk about a sticky mess. LOL. At least it's nice outside. I think the bugs are chasing them since I hear screaming and running footsteps.

Busy!

After taking M to school this morning, O and I went to our Tuesday playdate. The girls had a good time and we ended up leaving around 1115am. I had to stop at the electrical supply store to buy some crap for the pool pump. The damn inspector keeps failing us ::grr:: Whatever. So, now that I have the stuff, hopefully P, in his spare time (haha), will get that fixed. I want to open the pool! It's getting hot! Looks like summer showed up today. Hot and muggy - not that I am complaining. I am sick of rain! Made a quick stop at Shop Rite to get produce, milk, bread, bagels and bottled water. $60+ later, I picked up a couple other things. LOL!
I am gonna go eat and check some of youse guys out!

Auuggghhh!

It's too bright! What is that big shiny thing up in the sky????
LOL

Here's the crazy part. I still fee like crap and wanna be curled up in bed. O is practically laying on the floor... half asleep. Ugh - I am gonna have to be a good mom and throw her outside to get some fresh air. I wonder if I can bring out my comforter?

Graduation

O's preschool graduation will beheld June 25 - 2 days after her ear tube procedure. Technically, she doesn't really graduate but is switching to a different location. This preschool is about 5 minutes from the house. Yay!
Still feeling gross - all congested but it's not really breaking up. I don't know if the Robitussin is really cutting it. I might have to actually go to the doctor! Actually, I am annoyed with my doctor. I left a message for him regarding blood work. I want to find out my cholesterol and blood pressure. Since both of my parents have cancer, I am a little concerned about my health. I have yet to hear from the doctor or his staff. I have been calling and it's either busy or I get the "out of office message" during business hours! Grrr!

Bonkos Night

Tonight is Bonkos night. Ugh. I feel like staying home tonight but I am driving one of the ::ahem:: older ladies tonight. What the hell - I've got nothing to do tonight anyway.
This morning was a disaster. M was such a booger! She has this thing, which I have most likely enabled, about tying her shoes. She says the laces hurt her hands and she can't tie them tight "like you Mommy". ::sigh:: P and I have been making her tie her shoes the past couple days and you'd think we were actually torturing her, judging by her reactions. Crying and yelling and all this very dramatic eye rolls and stomping. I adore my children but I was really not liking M too much a couple hours ago. She decided to tuck her laces into the sides of her shoes INSTEAD of tying them. I explained to her that as soon as she started to walk or run, she would run right out of her shoes. I am not kidding when I say that it took her 20 minutes before she tied those damn sneakers. She moaned and whined and cried about it. But - she tied and double knotted her sneakers. She DID it herself. Don't misunderstand, she has known how to tie her shoes since Kindergarten. She just doesn't <i>like</i> to tie her shoes. I have been doing it just to save on time (I know.. I know). Now, she is going to tie them, by herself, every damn day. At this point, I refuse to buy velco sneakers unless she knows how to tie her shoes. She is going to wear those damn sneakers every day!!!
Whew - I feel better.

Freedom

After being <strike>trapped in hell</strike>home with the family yesterday, we decided to go out today. There was no rain although it was somewhat cloudy and cool.
First stop - WalMart. P needed an oil filter and motor oil for the Saturn. I needed Robitussin. Talk about one stop shopping. We found a really nice deal on a new computer. It's an <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2145520&cat=41937&type=19&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3951%3A41937"target=_blank>e-machine and nicely loaded</a> including an LCD monitor.
<img alt="emachine.jpg" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/emachine.jpg" width="215" height="215" border="0" />
Yeah - that would solve most of our current computer woes. See - M has our <b>old</b> machine. I think it's an Athalon 200. Woohoo. It runs all the basic games, JumpStart, Reader Rabbit, etc. She has a 17" monitor as well but it takes up most of her desk. We <i>could</i> toss her old machine and let the kids use what we have now (P3/500 384mb, 20gb). Then P and I could have the new one and keep it in our room! ::sigh:: Still deciding if we <i>should</i> go for it.
Next stop - Staples. They just opened one by us and it's really nice looking. I have yet to see a Staples that looked this nice. I guess I will wait a year and then see what it looks like then. LOL! I found a few things there - a camera case that also came with rechargable NiMH batteries and a charger. COOL! We are practically eating batteries. Hopefully these, as well as the extra set of rechargable AA's, will save us money in the long run.
We got back home around 3pm. I was exhausted. This cold has settled into my chest so it feels like I am having an asthma attack and it lasts all day. I hope the Robitussin cough and cold works. I have also been using my inhaler and I rarely use that. The kids watched a couple movies and I dozed the chair.
We have had some computer problems and P has been trying to fix it for about a week. It was interfering with my PDA, camera and printer. P finally figured out what was wreaking havoc on our system. It was that crappy Real Player! Once that was gone - everything worked just fine. We also had a crapped out hub too. He also spent part of today attempting to hook up the Kodak card reader. Now that's done too and again, no problems! ::knocking wood::
P is mowing the front yard. It keeps growing! I think there is more rain in tomorrow's forecast. Oy vey - enough already!

The kids are driving me insane. I swear, if they weren't recovering from being sick, they would be outside, rain or no rain. P is passed out and I am feeling like total crap. [/whine]

Thak goodness I hadsome tomato sauce with meatballs and sausage in the freezer. It's now in the crockpot, simmering for dinner. I don't even know if I want to eat. Everything tastes funny. Blech.

I am gonna catch up on ya'll - see you around.

Shopping

O and I hit WalMart after we "did lunch". I picked up a couple cute things for M.. a little purse, some lip glosses and a Barbie skort w/matching top. Way pink and awfully cute.
I forgot to mention that, between O's doctors' appointments, we had an hour to kill. I noticed that the hospital was hosting a handbag/totebag/luggage sale. I stopped in and I found a Stone Mountain leather bag and a red leather wallet. AND, I bought them for myself. Happy freakin' anniversary to me.

Tired of doctors

Things went well at the pediatrician's office today. Her ears are still red but her O2 levels are normal. She will be taking the steriods for 4 more days and he wants us to wean her off the nebulizer. Ok with me!
The ENT, well, that's another story. Today, he looked in her ears and agreed with me that O's ears really couldn't wait. So, she is scheduled to get tubes on June 23rd. The doc was very reassuring about the procedure. Says it only takes 5-10 minutes and she would be running around like her normal self in two hours. I wonder if I will get any drugs too. ::sigh:: I remember when she had to get her renal u/s when she was two years old. They gave her some serious drugs to knock her out. I was holding her and I could see exactly when the drugs kicked in. She was just smiling at everyone. Heck, she couldn't even hold her head up. Now, it's funny but I was in tears looking at her. All I could think about was my poor stoned out baby! LOL!
I took her out to McD's - she was thrilled. Life is good.... for now.

Friday!

I thought it would never get here!

Youngestis doing much better. We have a follow uo with the pedi at 11am and an appointment with the ENT at noon. Woohoo - a fun filled day. Thank goodness she is pretty comfortable with the doctors and will sit still during the exams. Her allergist loves seeing her as she is one of the few children that doesn't freak out when he walks into the room. He can't believe how calm both girls can be during the exam.
I am feeling a little better. It's amazing what sleep can do for a body. Youngestfinally conked out around 10pm. She woke up when she rolled out of her toddler bed at 315am. She needed another nebulizer treatment and promptly fell asleep halfway through it. Cool for me! Husband, on the other hand, is still pretty tired. He had a hard time sleeping last night and was coughing for a while. Poor guy. He woke me up this morning when he smacked his arm into a shelf. Doh! I mumbled "Happy anniversary" to him and heard him quietly say "Oh shit" before falling back to sleep. Hmm - should be an interesting night tonight.
I cancelled tonight with my Mom. It makes no sense to drag her down here when Youngestand Husband are sick. She mentioned that she might come down Saturday. That would be cool - maybe Husband and I can go out to lunch - ALONE! ::gasp::
I have to get ready to go out now. Chat with ya'll later!
::smooches and hugs::

Post Dinner

Well - we survived the day so far.
At O's appointment - her O2 level was at 95 and one ear was red. The doc prescribed OraPred and Zithromax. As of now, she has already had one dose of each. She will need another dose of Orapred before bed - steriods are fun stuff. They <i>slightly</i> alter one's attitude. O is wired ::sigh:: AND she gets to have another dose!
P made it home at his normal time - he's exhausted from only getting 3 hours of sleep. He's working on stuff for work - he calls it homework. LOL.

Ironic

The rain has stopped and the sun is shining. It's gorgeous outside. O and I are camped out inside the house. I'd take her out but I know she will have another coughing fit. We will be leaving for the doc in 45 minutes.

Medical Mess

I have a pediatrician appointment for O for 215pm. It was one of those come in <i>right now</i> or 215pm. Let me explain why <i>right now</i> wasn't a viable option for us.

O finally fell asleep last night at 10pm.
She woke up at 1215am, crying and coughing. She got a breathing treatment. P and I went to bed by 1245am.
330am - she wakes up again. Another treatment and then P brought her into the bathroom for a massive dose of steam. We set her up to sleep on the couch. P volunteered to sleep out there with her so I could get some sleep, saying that I would need some rest for later that day.
415am - M wakes up.
5am - O got a dose of Pulmicort via the nebulizer. She is retracting and pretty much out of it.
630am - P comes in and wakes me up, letting me know what happened in the 2 out of 3 hours I was able to sleep.
730am - I roll out of bed and jump into the shower.
750am - M informs me that O (finally) fell asleep on the floor in front of the tv. Great. Especially since she has to catch the bus in 30 minutes.
755am- I call my awesome neighbor and asked if she could take M to the bus stop. She says no problem.
8am - M is picked up. Neighbor tells me if I need her later to just call and to take a nap. God - I just love her.
805am: P had put down a bunch of blankets and pillows on the floor earlier that morning. After making sure O was ok on the floor, I went BACK to bed.
848am - O starts crying and runs into my bedroom. She climbs up and cuddles with me, still wheezing and retracting. She falls back asleep.
935am - I get up to take something for my massive headache. O wakes up, starts creaming and runs out to the kitchen.
945am - After calming her down, she gets another breathing treatment while I call the doctor's office.
As you can see - my morning from hell hasn't been very productive. Of course, I feel like total crap but I am really worried about O. I think tomorrow night's plans are going to be postponed. I don't want to leave a sick kidlet with my Mom. We'll have to see how it goes after the appointment.
So - how the hell are you normal people doing?

YAY!

<a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com">P</a> called about 20 minutes ago. He is <i>finally</i> on his way home. Poor guy. He hasn't eaten since lunchtime.
I have to toss O into bed - she is passed out on the couch. Later!

Bedtime

The girls are in bed. Well, M is in bed and O asked to sleep out on the couch. I was going to say no but, after looking at the huge dark circles under her eyes, I relented. She looks awful - huge allergy shiners right under both eyes. Poor baby. Right now, as I type, she is laying on the couch, all snuggled up with one of her blankets, sip cup and a pillow. I think she will fall asleep. She's already starting to zone out.
P is still at work. I hate when he has to work late. I appreciate the OT but I really do like to spend time with him as well. ::grin:: Since he's not here, I will mention what our plans are this Friday:

Mom is coming down to watch the girls. She is planning to spend the night. Originally, I wanted to take P to Atlantic City but we are pretty short on funds. Looks like we will be going out to dinner and possibly catching a movie, hopefully Bruce Almighty. There is a slight chance we will skip the movie and head to AC anyway, even for a couple hours. Hell - I can get free drinks! LOL!
I will have to see if I can dig up some of our wedding pictures. We were so broke we decided to skip getting a photographer, a decison I regret today. But, a lot of our friends shared their pictures with us and we will always be thankful for that.

Another dreary day

Good morning all you fine people. Thank you so much for the well wishes and the get well soons! *mwah* <--- germ free kiss

M has a class trip today. Yes, another class trip. They are going to a local aquarium. She was so excited about going. Luckily, she was doing much better today. I loaded her up with nose spray, her inhaler and some OTC stuff to dry up all that snot! She also is armed with a pocketful of tissues and chapstick. LOL. Poor kid.
O, on the other hand, has been getting breathing treatments every 4 hours, which started around 3pm yesterday. Surprisingly, I am pretty wired for getting a lack of sleep. I was watching tv in our bedroom as I was having a hard time falling asleep. I got up at 1230am to give another treatment and was still up. I didn't fall asleep last night until almost 2am. Let me tell you, tv late at night sucks. ::grin:: They both woke up at 430am. I started O on her treatment and tucked M back into bed. Her lips were hurting because they were starting to crack. Ouch.
I drove M to school - too tired to even attempt the bus. O is getting another treatment while watching The Wiggles. She's so damn cooperative about getting the breathing treatments. I suspect her ears are bothering her again so I have to call the otolaryngologist's office. Ooooh - my big word for today! Luckily, the referral is good for 180 days and he definitely wanted to see her right away if her ears were acting up.
I'll catch up later!

<i>edited to add:
the soonest I could get an appointment was Friday. Crap.</i>

Will it ever end?

Man - how bad am I? I just want to throw the kids in bed NOW! LOL! They aren't being evil or boogery ::knocking wood:: It's just time for them to go away for the night. Dinner tonight was whatever they wanted.
M - a peeled and cored apple and some disgusting gel stuff in a tube (My Mom bought them for her. Ick)
O - most of a large naval orange, 2 bites of a bagel and a piece of pumpkin pie.
What fine quality meals I feed my children. I managed to eat a bagel. I better work on more water consumption. Ugh.

Overdid it

Well - I couldn't leave well enough alone. I took the girls to the supermarket and did mega-shopping. They were pretty well behaved but I am exhausted. I am just sitting down to eat some salad and bread with butter. But, in 15 minutes, I have to leave and go to the school to pick up M's schoolwork.
Ok - I am done whining... I think. LOL!

Feeling human

I took a nice looong hot shower. I wish I cold have stayed there for a lot longer. I am going to get dressed and get the kids dressed. I gotta get outta here or I'll go crazy!

We're home

All 3 of us. We all sound gross. The kids are full of snot. Oh my gosh, I didn't think anyone's head could hold that much. Sorry - gross I know. Hope you weren't eating breakfast ::grin:: Maybe I should change my blog to KateSNOT. LOL!
The worst part, I have to run errands today and I was <i>hoping</i> to go food shopping. Hahahahahahaha ::cough cough:: I am vegging here at the computer for a little while, drinking my coffee. Ahhh, sweet nectar of the gods. I hope I can jump into the shower sometime this morning, BEFORE we go out on our errands. Ugh.
See ya'll later.

Pity Party

Still feeling icky. Wah. All I want right now is some ice cream :::drool::: I just know that would make me (and my scratchy throat) feel better.

The night passed somewhat smoothly. Very weird. I think the girls aren't feeling well either. M's voice is almost gone - she sounds terrible. I have a feeling she will be home tomorrow too. Ack.
I put a ton of braids in M's hair last night. She looks adorable. Tonight, O wanted <i>her</i> hair in braids. Even cuter. Check 'em out below:

::sniffle::cough:::

Made an appointment with my gynocologist for June 30th. I know, TMI. I also called my PCP to see if he would give me a referral for blood work. I want to get my cholesterol checked. It's been several years since I have had it done. Frankly, with my family's medical history, I need to get everything checked!
I just talked to P and he is feeling gross too. Sore throat, runny/stuffy nose. Yay. Either the four of us are having allergy attacks or we all have a cold.
Crap.

Just got a call

from one of O's teachers. Instead of <a href="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/archives/003012.html#003012">pizza</a>, the little girl's mom will be bringing in Happy Meals instead ::phew:: The teacher called to check and see if O can have one too. I feel so much better now - O loves hamburger Happy Meals! Now I can pick her up at her regular scheduled time.

Birthday

I am freaking out that my 33rd birthday is fast approaching on June 13th! I am still trying to decide what to do for our 10 year anniversary. I can't even write about it since <a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com">he</a> reads my blog now ::sticks out tongue::: and would find out what I am or am not planning!

Allergies

Today is going to suck. I have a feeling that M will be sent home today. She is SO sniffly and she says he throat is scratchy. No temperature and is pretty upbeat so I am inclined to think it is allergy related. Possibly due to the ****load of pollen in the air. I told her to try to make it today but if she feels any worse, to go to the nurse. I feel slightly guilty for sending her in but she has missed about 7-9 days of school this year. I know she is a kick-ass student but I don't want her in the habit of just banging out whenever she has the sniffles. ::sigh::
One of O's classmates has her last day of preschool today. Her mom sent in cupcakes, ice cream and juiceboxes for snack - O can have the juicebox. The mom is also sending in PIZZA for lunch! Arrgghh!!! Needless to say, I will be picking O up about 45 minutes early today. Poor kid. She's so good about it too. Whenever someone offers her food, she says "I can't eat it. No thank you." God - it breaks my heart. I am not looking forward to birthday parties when she gets older and makes friends.
Well - off to try to get <i>something</i> done. Later!

Six Feet Under

OhMyGAWD!!!
(WARNING - some spoiler info in extended entry and possibly the comments)

I knew Lisa was dead. Hell - she was always listed in the credits as "guest starring". But, when they showed Claire meeting up with Gabe, I bawled. Then, when Claire met up with Lisa and the baby that she aborted, I started sobbing. I can't take stuff like that. The wedding was so sweet, even with Claire sobbing through the vows. I think she will be a wonderful mom to Mya
This episode was very well written. Extremely moving. I have a headache from crying. Off to take some ibuprofen.

My bathroom

Oy - <a href="http://mrPtoyou.blogspot.com">P</a> tore up a part of my bathroom! I don't think he meant to do it either. The previous owners of this house were (and possibly still are) idiots. <b>Everything</b> was installed incorrectly.
In happier news, my step-mom was sent home on Friday. She is so happy to be back home. Hospitals really suck. She will have to have another procedure done on June 17th. It's called <a href="http://my.webmd.com/content/healthwise/39/9654"target=_blank>extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy.</a> From WebMD:
<i>The person lies on a water-filled cushion. X-rays or ultrasound tests are used to precisely locate the stone. High-energy sound waves pass through the body without injuring it and shatter the stone into small particles. These small particles move through the urinary tract and out of the body more easily than a large stone.</i>
The bonus - it can be done as an outpatient procedure. Very cool!
Well - off to finish making dinner. Really simple tonight - meat slop (browned chopped beef cooked with onions) with gravy, rice, veggies and I have a pumpkin pie baking in the oven. Smells yummy here!

Great Long Distance Company

I used KissLD. They rock! Only .03 per minute! And, there is no limit on minutes, thank goodness. I use my cellphone but sometimes the signal doesn't come in too clearly.
Well - off to do more money crunching. Ugh.
