Freedom
After being <strike>trapped in hell</strike>home with the family yesterday, we decided to go out today. There was no rain although it was somewhat cloudy and cool.
First stop - WalMart. P needed an oil filter and motor oil for the Saturn. I needed Robitussin. Talk about one stop shopping. We found a really nice deal on a new computer. It's an <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2145520&cat=41937&type=19&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3951%3A41937"target=_blank>e-machine and nicely loaded</a> including an LCD monitor.

Yeah - that would solve most of our current computer woes. See - M has our <b>old</b> machine. I think it's an Athalon 200. Woohoo. It runs all the basic games, JumpStart, Reader Rabbit, etc. She has a 17" monitor as well but it takes up most of her desk. We <i>could</i> toss her old machine and let the kids use what we have now (P3/500 384mb, 20gb). Then P and I could have the new one and keep it in our room! ::sigh:: Still deciding if we <i>should</i> go for it.
Next stop - Staples. They just opened one by us and it's really nice looking. I have yet to see a Staples that looked this nice. I guess I will wait a year and then see what it looks like then. LOL! I found a few things there - a camera case that also came with rechargable NiMH batteries and a charger. COOL! We are practically eating batteries. Hopefully these, as well as the extra set of rechargable AA's, will save us money in the long run.
We got back home around 3pm. I was exhausted. This cold has settled into my chest so it feels like I am having an asthma attack and it lasts all day. I hope the Robitussin cough and cold works. I have also been using my inhaler and I rarely use that. The kids watched a couple movies and I dozed the chair.
We have had some computer problems and P has been trying to fix it for about a week. It was interfering with my PDA, camera and printer. P finally figured out what was wreaking havoc on our system. It was that crappy Real Player! Once that was gone - everything worked just fine. We also had a crapped out hub too. He also spent part of today attempting to hook up the Kodak card reader. Now that's done too and again, no problems! ::knocking wood::
P is mowing the front yard. It keeps growing! I think there is more rain in tomorrow's forecast. Oy vey - enough already!

I always say you are better off building your own. I priced out the exact same system that WalMart was selling online through a wholesaler I use all the time. The same system (some parts were better since it was all they carried) cost $662.50, including the monitor. The beauty of building your own is you can spend less on things you don't need, and more on the stuff you'd get the most use out of. You also get a case that is easy to work in, so you can upgrade one component at a time, thus saving you from having to spend a ton at once when you need to upgrade something.

Real Player is pure evil. Always messes up my system as well.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you're feeling better soon!
Loved your rainy pictures. We didn't get a lot this weekend but it still managed to rain a bit.
