Arg
I was home all day and I feel like <i>nothing</i> got completed. I didn't even pull anything out for dinner. ::sigh:: I did get a lot of Girl Scout paperwork and calls completed. I think I need a secretary!
The troop will be making a Mother's Day project on Friday. We are going to paint clay pots and saucers and then they will decorate them with either rubs or jewels. I am not too sure which. I bought flocked ladybugs from the Rag Shop. They are so cute - I'll have to take a picture of them later.
Gotta head out the door - O has tae kwon do!

P and I are in the midst of deciding what color to paint the kitchen. We finally decided on this color:
<img alt="paintcolor.JPG" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/paintcolor.JPG" width="123" height="168" border="0" />
Isn't it great?? We are going to (I hope) install white beadboard halfway up the walls and paint the top half <i>Tender Rose</i>. We want to reface our cabinets and make them beadboard as well. P can cut and install the beadboard over our existing cabinet doors. Yay! More projects! LOL!
I am off to bed - my apologies to everyone that I wasn't able to visit tonight.
G'night!

Better late than never
Hmmpf!
P hogged the computer all last night so I never got a chance to blog. Then, we were running a little late this morning and I didn't get a chance until now! WHEW!
The kids played outside yesterday - even after dinner. We had a bit of a hard time getting them to come INSIDE. They were having so much fun in the sandbox
<img alt="Not my kid!" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/turtle.JPG" width="148" height="150" border="0" />
I have a bunch of photos to upload - have been too lazy to do it. I want to change my template and I am looking for free (and royalty free) images. Any suggestions? I don't want to pay for any!
Well - off to feed O. The girls have tae kwon do today so it's busy busy! Bye!

WAY funny!
Ok - a friend emailed this to me and I cracked up. Don't know if it's true but it's still pretty damn funny.
:::<i>Ok - <a href="http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/npr-reinwald.htm"target=_blank>it's not true</a> but it's still a great comeback line</i>:::
<b>Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day and you have to read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this!!!! This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to
teach these young boys when they visit your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper
rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're
not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended.
You gotta love the Marines! </b>

Eeeeeeeew!
I cleaned out O's sandbox. Talk about nasty! The lid didn't stay closed so it was full of stinky water and slimy soggy leaves ::gag:: I shoveled out the sand and tossed it right into the garbage can. No way am I dumping that frigging mess on my grass!
It is gorgeous today! I am going up to visit Mary this Saturday and I am going ALONE! Yay! I want to meet my brother in the city and maybe the 3 of us can have lunch.
Well - back to the loverly day! Bye!

Good morning!!
Hello all you wonderful people! ::smooches:: Isn't it just a beeeyoootiful day??
I never got a chance to blog yesterday. When I finally sat down to write, my computer locked up so I just took that as a sign to work on my crochet project. AND - it gave me the excuse to watch <i>Circle of Friends </i> on the Family Channel!
I skipped church yesterday ::bad Kate:: The girls and I visited my friend and her gang. The girls had a great time! I was showing my friend's husband how to sell things on ebay and explaining how the list fees work, etc. The funny part abotu this is that my friend had all the kids outside while I was inside with her hubby and the computer! LOL! I was teasing her about it later in the afternoon.
We got back home around 330pm. The kids were pooped. P had mowed the lawn and he was pooped too. So, they were cuddling on the couch watching <a href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0052618"target=_blank><i>Ben Hur</i></a>. I love that movie. M had a lot of questions about the movie, about Jesus and about crucifixtion. She was fascinated with the story. I really think it helped her understand a little more about Jesus and the story about his death.
After dinner, the girls got really fast baths and we finished <i>just</i> in time to watch <i>Eloise</i>. Did anyone else watch it? I thought it was SO good! Just like the book!! That little girl was adorable and I felt that she really captured the essence of Eloise. I hope Disney releases this on DVD.
Well - I am off to read emails and updated blogs! BYE!

They're back home
I hate the doctor that was in the office today. According to him, O has no ear infection and wasn't wheezing. Umm ok. So - he gave P a prescription for an antibiotic and no steroids. WTF? Why? God - I hate that ****ing moron.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Luckily, she seems to be feeling better. We will have to keep up on the breathing treatments <i>every</i> 4 hours.

Steroid Saturday
P is taking driving Miss O to the doctor's office right now. The poor kid was up again last night, hacking and coughing. She never made it fully back to sleep. P sat with her most of the night. I hung in there until 3am. I bet she has an ear infection and she gets steriods for her retracting and wheezing. Hopefully, the pediatrician will give us steriod samples so we can get started right away.
Luckily, the Brownie event was cancelled ::hooray:: M has a birthday party at 2pm. I think it will be a good time. Later guys!

Wheee!
Had a great day today.
Mary got to our place around 130pm and I hustled her, as well as the girls, out the door. I picked up a Wiggles video and some crochet books at the library. Made it to Bruno's and even to the Rag Shop. I bought some stuff and Mary ended up dumping over $50! She wasn't even planning on buying anything either - heh! We made it to tae kwon do on time too! M did well at her lessons. They had time for some games so they played dodge ball. The kids use foam balls - not those big rubber balls used to use when I was in school. I can still feel the sting from those goddamn things! O was hacking and coughing today - poor kid. By the time we got back home from class, she really needed a breathing treatment.
After her treatment, I made dinner. Burgers, hot dogs, salad.. nice and easy. I feel bad - I wanted to cook something a <i>little</i> nicer than that. Poor Mary! When dinner was finished, I put on the Wiggles tape for the girls. Then, Mary, P and I sat at the table and just cracked each other up. We laughed for a good hour. Mary showed me some tricks to use in crocheting - very neat tricks indeed!
P is passed out in the chair next to me. Poor guy - he is pooped. It looks like our GS troop activity for tomorrow will be cancelled. It's raining now. Ick.
Well - I am off to read some blogs. Cool news - <a href="http://www.astarradesigns.com/blog/"target=_blank>MARIA</a> is back!! YAY!! ::smooches:: Welcome back sweetie!

Hooray! It's FRIDAY!
I have a few errands to do when Mary gets here. We gotta get to the library, Bruno's (butcher shop), the Rag Shop, Cost Cutters and possibly Blockbuster . Then, M has tae kwon do at 5pm. Mary's staying for dinner and movies. What fun!!

Howdy!
The playdate went smoothly. The girls had a great time at tae kwon do. P went straight to the studio and I was able to head off to the hospital by 530pm. I got there by 630pm and found my dad in his room. My stepmom was still there and we hung out and chatted for a while. She left shortly after that. My dad was pretty tired and slightly dopey from the morphine. Earlier today, the doctor had removed Dad's nose tube and they had him sitting up in a chair. He was dozing on and off while I was there. I was able to get a couple rounds on my crochet project finished. At 9pm, I made him take a hit off his morphine drip and then I left. Since I would be driving past my mom's place on my way home, I called her and she suggested that I stop by for a few minutes. Well, 2 hours later and some dinner, I thought it would be best that I be on my merry way. I made it back home about 30 minutes ago. <a href="http://www.bookblog.net"target=_blank>Mary</a> will be down tomorrow around 1pm. YAY!
I am off to get some coffee and read some blogs!

More about my Dad
My brother called earlier - Dad is doing fine but is in quite a bit of pain. The nurses set him up with a morphine drip. They also have him sitting in a chair to help improve his circulation. The doctor listened to his belly and heard a lot of gurgling, which is good. Apparently, he really needs to pass gas. Something my dad is pretty good at doing. Heh.

Cleanin' Up
Moir has a friend coming over at noon. The playdate is 12pm-3pm. Then, we have to hustle our butts over to tae kwon do for 2 hours. Hopefully, P will meet me there and I can go straight up to the hospital to see my dad.
So - right now I am cleaning up the big sloppy mess that is my living room and dining room. Oy - papers and toys everywhere!!!!

I'm home
I love all you guys - all the sweet comments. Thank you so much.
I got to the hospital around 430pm. I found my dad and stepmom in the pre-op room and got a chance to sit and chat with my dad for a little while. He was going in for further prepping by 530pm and would be in the OR within 45 minutes. The surgery is supposed to be approximately 2 hours IF the surgeon was able to go in via laproscope. Then, the anasthesiologist (sic) gave him a shot of happy juice. We kissed him goodbye and left. My brother was waiting for us in the OR waiting area. We walked outside so my stepmom could smoke and then we went to the coffee shop for dinner. We made it back to the waiting area by 545pm and waited. I brought my crochet and some books to read. I managed to get quite a bit completed on my project. Around 7pm, we ran out and got coffee. Came back and waited. And waited some more. One of the two surgeons came out around 830pm and said things had gone well and that the other surgeon would be out soon. 45 minutes later, he comes out. Dad had a lot of bleeding during the surgery but was ok. They cut out the entire section of where the tumor was located and the doctor was able to put him back together. No colostomy bag - thank goodness. The procedure was able to be done with the laproscope. We didn't get to actually see him until 1045pm. The surgeon said Dad would be quite uncomfortable. He was right. Poor Dad. At least they hooked him up with a morphine drip, which he used right after we came in to see him.
I got home around 1145pm. I am exhausted. I will be going up to the hospital tomorrow night to see him. I hope he's doing a little better by then. My stepmom is really exhausted as she has been running around since 6am. My brother followed her home, just to make sure she was ok. I'll try to catch up with all you guys tomorrow.

Today is the day
for my Dad's surgery. I will be leaving here in about an hour to go to the hospital with my stepmom and brother. Please keep my dad in your thoughts - I really appreciate it!!
O and I dropped M off at her friend's house and headed to the bank and library. Luckily, one of the crochet books I requested was available as well as a cool book about <i>The Sopranos</i>. I will be able to catch up on all the characters and their association with Tony. With the two books and my crochet project, I will be able to keep busy - I hope.
I'll write more later when I get back home.

Chat
I had a great chat with Mary! She also helped me with a small crochet problem that I was having. I had to rip out something like <i>all</i> 19 rows of work because of a stupid mistake I was consistantly making. Damn. So, I started over and ya know what? It looks a helluva lot better AND I can crochet the rounds much faster now.
Well - I am off to bed in a few minutes. G'nite ya'll!

Easy Day
I am hoping to have an easy day today.. at least for a couple hours  We have to get to the library so I can return some books. My library allows people to renew their books online or to request books and have them held for you. Hehe! I love that feature! So - I have like 9 books on hold. Some are not available right now so I will get an email when they are available. That is such a convenient feature! O never lets me browse through the aisles. She makes too much noise and I have to hang out in the kiddie section. It's great for the kids but there's not too much for ME to read. Unless, of course, I am reading to O. LOL!
Well - off to request a few books for M! Bye!

Insanity at Easter
Ai yi yi!
Happy Easter everyone!
Today (yesterday?) was just insane. My step-mom took my dad to the ER today. I met her there. My brother was there too. The three of them threw me out at 345pm and they were there until 7pmm. Dad had to get a CAT scan. He was in terrible pain this morning and was vomiting. Other stuff too - but I won't mention that ::grin:: They thought he had an obstruction and there was a chance of emergency surgery. Luckily, he is ok for now. He will be meeting with the surgeon hopefully by Tuesday or Wednesday.
I just finished baking an apple pie - Mmmmm, pie and I have bread in the bread machine. We are all heading to church tomorrow and then my Mom and Dan will be down around noon-ish. I am cooking dinner - Ham (ugh - hate ham), mashed potatoes, string beans and broccoli (for O), fresh salad and fresh bread. My mom is bringing a cake and I have the pie.
Yummy.
ANYWAY - I hope you all have a wonderful Easter! I love you guys!

It's Saturday?
M did AWESOME at tae kwon do! She is really starting to get the hang of it. Plus - she just looks so damn cute in her uniform. I forgot my camera today but I will get some pics of her on Tuesday. We had a fun night tonight. I popped some popcorn and we watched America's Funniest Videos. The girls love that show.
I am catching up on my blog reads. Please forgive me if I don't comment on many of them - you know I love you all so much!

C-c-cold!
Man - it is COLD outside! The kids have been outside since 11am, took a break for lunch and then back outside. I will be dragging them back inside in half an hour. This way, they have time for a snack, get changed, clean up and leave by 430 before M's tae kwon do class at 5pm.
I have been doing the rest of the laundry as well as cleaning around the house. I really should get my ass to ShopRite for a few last minute things that I need for Sunday. Maybe tomorrow morning before my Dad and Stepmom come down. They are headed to AC for the weekend.
Later!

Tae Kwon Do
Well - both girls have tea kwon do today. O can come at 4pm Monday - Thursday. M's classes are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 5pm. So, I decided that we would go Tuesday - Friday, skipping the Fridays that we have scouts.
P came home early today. He was exhausted. I think he got 2.5 hours of sleep. He is sleeping now. I will have to call him around 5pm to wake him up and have him preheat the oven and put the meatloaf in for dinner. I already made rice and gravy. All I have to do is whip up a salad and some broccoli. Thank goodness the girls are on spring break and we don't have to wake up early tomorrow! :cloud9:

Is it Friday yet?
Oh my GAWD - last night was loooong.
I worked on a new crochet project. I am taking a break from the navy/tan afghan and I am working on one for a baby shower next month. I found the yarn at WalMart and it was on clearance for $2.00 for a 6oz skein! ::happy dance:: The baby afghan will also be a granny square but it looks really pretty so far. The bonus - I can work on it while I am at Tae Kwon Do 4 days a week.
P stopped at his parents house on hus way home last night so the girls and I had a quick and easy dinner of chicken, veggies and rice. He didn't get home until 715pm-ish. The girls helped me finish the little crocheted bunnies for her class. My mom's friend made the girls 75 bunnies! We did the usual night time routine and the kids were in bed by 9pm. Not bad.
Last night's highlight was finally talking to <a href="http://coffeemom.com"target=_blank>Allison</a> for almost an hour! She is the sweetest lil ole thing and has the most adorable accent! Love ya sweetie!
Around 2am, O wakes up, fussing and crying. I checked on her, tuck her back in, give her kisses and go back to bed. She kept the crying routine up for the rest of the night. She would fuss and cry - that moaning pathetic type of crying - and P or I would go in and get mad at her. There was <i>nothing</i> wrong with her. Finally, P just got up with her at 315am and had her sit in the kitchen. She sat for over two hours while he ran the dishwasher and did some bills. She started to nod off and he tucked her back in bed. 20 minutes later, she's crying again. :banghead: He was SO angry with her. I can't say I blame him. He set her up on the couch and she pretty much fell asleep around 530am! I don't know how P made it to work. He said it took every ounce of strength not to fall asleep during his morning drive. Of course, the princess slept until 745am. I woke her up because we had to take M to the bus stop. O also had school today. I didn't even bother to take her - she is just fried. I didn't get to Curves either since she is home. :sigh: We did drive to her school and gave the teachers bunnies for the kids and teachers there. Spring vacation starts tomorrow. Yippie.

Awful news
My dad has colon cancer. I just got the call.
::update::
Ok - I spoke with my Step-Mom and got more information.
This was my dad's first colonoscopy. The tumor was so large the doctor was unable to get the tube though. The doctor believes that Dad might have had this tumor for almost 10 years. Right now, they are making appointments for consultations with surgeons and getting PET and CAT scans done. There is a chance that laproscopic surgery could be done.
My head is spinning. It was just about 1 year ago when Dad had to go in for a triple bypass. He was doing SO well. Now this.

Why is it
that a quick run to Wal-Mart for four bags of play sand can set me back $100?
Hmm - maybe it had something to do with purchasing the new Harry Potter movie, 2 ink cartridges for my printer, fish food, 3 balls of yarn, clearance clothing for the girls and (don't forget) four bags of play sand.
Yeah, maybe.

The right moment to ask for a raise or apply for a promotion or new job could come your way today - but you'd better make use of it, or the opportunity could pass you by. A chance for a romantic encounter, or a fun evening with friends, could also come. Whatever pleasant things come your way today are not a sure thing, dear Gemini, so don't let them go by. They could be significant milestones for you.

Cool movies on AMC
Tonight, P and I watched <i><a href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0073195"target=_blank>Jaws</a></i> and we are now watching <a href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0071877"target=_blank><i>Murder on the Orient Express</i></a>.
Jaws always scares the crap out of me. Besides, I just LOVE Robert Shaw. I liked him best in <i><a href="http://us.imdb.com/Title?0070735"target=_blank>The Sting</a></i> as Doyle Lonnegan.
<b>Floyd</b>: Doyle, I KNOW I gave him four THREES. He had to make a SWITCH. We can't let him get away with that.
<b>Doyle Lonnegan</b>: What was I supposed to do -- call him for cheating better than me, in front of the others?
Heh :cheerful: GREAT movie..

M had a lot of fun at Tae Kwon Do this afternoon. O was so disappointed she couldn't have <i>her</i> class today. She wanted to wear the uniform shirt while M practiced. She looked SO cute! :cheerful: Her class is tomorrow. Talk about excited!! I will bring my camera - it's really adorable.

Back Home
Well- we are back home. We never made it to feed the ducks. Oh well, no big deal. I stopped at Fashion Bug and found a top and pants for Easter. They are a linen type fabric and color. Very neutral. Bland. Perfect! I do have a <i>great</i> pair of cream colored high heeled strappy shoes  that I need a good excuse to wear again.
O and I hit the local Hallmark store and I picked up some Easter cards and some cute things for gifts. I can't say what they are because I know some of the people getting the gifts read my blog!
Well - off to get lunch ready. I hope my headache goes away. I think it's my allergies :ugh:

Ugh - it's morning <i>already</i>? I need to go back to bed

Laci Peterson Found?
<a href="http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,84179,00.html"target=_blank>Body of Infant, Adult Wash Up; Modesto Police Called In</a>
RICHMOND, Calif. ? Law enforcement officials removed a badly decomposed woman's body Monday from the beach at a park near Point Isabel, one day after an infant boy's body was found along a trail about a mile away.
As part of their investigation, East Bay Regional Park district police summoned police from Modesto, where officials have been probing the disappearance of 28-year-old Laci Peterson for months.
"What we've done, as a precaution, is we've notified the Modesto Police Department," said Norman Lapera, chief of the park district, which is handling the investigation. "We have their investigators responding to the scene here ... and that's just a normal precaution."
The woman's body had apparently washed up from San Francisco Bay and was discovered Monday morning. The Contra Costa County medical examiner planned an autopsy Monday night.
Modesto police arrived by helicopter in the afternoon, but a department spokesman downplayed any connection to the missing woman.
"All it is at this point is they had a body wash up," said Modesto Sgt. Ron Cloward, who has headed the search for Peterson. "We have no indication at this point that it has anything to do with Laci."
Officials said they could not immediately determine the body's gender or race.
Peterson disappeared from her Modesto home Dec. 24. She was eight months pregnant, due to give birth to a baby boy in February.
Peterson's husband, Scott Peterson, has been questioned about her disappearance but never named a suspect.
Scott Peterson has told police he saw his wife the morning she disappeared, as she left their house to walk the dog. He said he went fishing that day at the Berkeley Marina, about three miles south of where the woman's body washed ashore.
Investigators searched the area around the Berkeley Marina in the weeks following Laci's disappearance and last month searched the area near where the woman's body was found.
On Sunday, the infant's body was found along a trail near the Richmond marina by two people walking their dog. Authorities said the baby, with its umbilical cord attached, had been dead for some time and was lying in grass near the water.

Monday morning - Part II
Hello! Back again!
Ok - so where was I?? Oh yeah -Palm Sunday..
So, we are at church. I told O that she would not be able to eat any of the candy in the eggs but she could eat the candy that I brought. I realized that I had forgotten O's candy, Benedryl and Epi-Pens (DUH!) when the 3 of us go upstairs and I see a table full of food. Food that is NOT O safe :sigh: I called P and he brought the diaper bag with her meds and he tossed in 2 full Pez dispensers for O. They did the egg hunt for the little kids first and she found 5 eggs. :cheerful: She had so much fun. We headed back upstairs and she was playing with some toys for a little while. M's age group went downstairs for the egg hunt and she found 10 eggs. They came back upstairs and had a snack. O walked over to me and showed me her arms - COVERED in hives! Her cheeks were all red and irratated as well  Holy ****! So - I grabbed her and the diaper bag and hauled her into the bathroom. I washed her off, put Benedryl cream on her arms and gave her some liquid Benedryl. The hives went away after about 15 minutes, thank goodness. I was SO mad at myself for putting her in a dangerous situation. There were crumbs all over the place, kids were eating candy... the poor kid. She wanted to do the egg hunt so bad :sigh:
I brought her back downstairs and we sat for a while. Service was going to start in about 20 minutes so I took her outside and let her run around on the grass. I figured that (plus the Benedryl) would calm her down. She was pretty well behaved during the service. M was in her Sunday school class.
After church, we went home and had lunch. Woohoo - how exciting. I went food shopping - ALONE! Man - was that fun! Boy - am I pathetic?! When I got back home, P had the kids outside, running around. It took me about 30-40 minutes to unpack the groceries and get everything put away. I went outside with them when I was done. Last night's dinner was hot dogs and steak on the grill. Yummy! I managed to catch <i>Six Feet Under</i> last night. Of course, I missed the first 15 minutes. I never liked Brenda's parents anyway so I wasn't sorry about her dad.
Wow - this is a BOOK!
I watched the celebrity episodes of Trading Spaces. Well - I missed the one with Andy Dick - he's a freak anyway. The one with the stars of <i>7th Heaven</i> was pretty dopey and I didn't even watch the re-run of the Natalie Maines room.
O was up coughing again last night so we gave her another breathing treatment and she slept through all of it. I kept her home from school because she still had a cough this morning. My father in law visited M at school today. Her school had "Grandparents Day" today. She was SO excited that he was coming to her school. He stopped by to visit O after he left the school.
Whew!! I am pooped! I have to catch up on all my reads! See ya'll later!

Monday morning!
Oy - where to begin..
Saturday was a little hectic. M had a friend over, after the birthday party. Her friend was moving to a new house (in the same town) so I offered to keep her for a few hours while the furniture was being moved. I brought E (the friend) back to her new home. WHOA! It's frickin' H U G E! I am so jealous :sigh:
But - hopefully in the next couple years we will be able to build on to this house.
Sunday was Palm Sunday and our church hosted an Easter Egg hunt for all the children in the congregation.
Oops - my father in law is here.. I'll update more later!

Better late than never
Hello!
I am still alive - just had a super busy afternoon and evening yesterday.
The Girl Scout meeting was a success - the girls enjoyed making their plastic waterbottle hourglasses. They looked like miniature pugil sticks. Heh - you can imagine what the girls were doing with them
P had to work late so the girls got McD's for dinner. :goofy:, popped some popcorn and had a girls night in front of the tv, watching the Friday night Disney line-up: That's So Raven, Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire. Then, I switched it over to Funniest Home Videos. They love that show. We had a great time. They were in bed by 915pm.
Today - M attended a birthday party at a Tae Quon Do place. All kids had a great time. It was an interesting idea. There's not too many places to have birthday parties in the winter. The skate rink, bowling alley or a home party. Good thing M has a summer birthday - this year's party will be a pool party with a magician. I know my bathroom will be a mess by the end of that day
Well - gotta run. Catch up with ya'll soon!

YAY! It's Friday!
I just got back from the gym and Dollar Tree. I am finally indulging in breakfast and CAWFEE!!! :coffee:
The girls in my troop are collecting items for the soldiers. I picked up Slim Jims (ew ew ew), flea collars (to prevent bites from sand fleas), dental floss, individual packages of Pop Tarts, razors, baby wipes, small packages of tissues, playing cards and hot chocolate mix. I spent almost $30 - I wish I could have spent a helluva lot more.

ZOINKS!!
I woke up at 745am! Very bad.. very bad! I woke the girls up and we had a pretty decent morning. I had to drive O to school first so M got to check out O's classroom and artwork. It was cute. All the teachers were saying "You must be M!" I guess O talks about her <i>just</i> a little bit. I drove M to school next and then drove BACK to the gym. I haven't been there for a few days because I had pulled a muscle in my calf last week. It still hurts but I am glad I didn't skip the gym today.
Now - I am finally eating breakfast and having a big ole cuppa cawfee :coffee: Yum!

Taking a break
I have had a rather busy day.
The weather stinks - rain rain rain. :ugh: I will be glad to see it subside for a little while. P was up late last night, still coughing and hacking. It didn't start <i>until</i> he got into our bedroom. Poor guy. Our bedroom was pretty dusty - bad me for not keeping up on it. Plus, we still have some stuff in there from when we did re-did the living room. So, after we got back from taking M to school, I tore apart the bedroom. Dusted everywhere - the tops of the window frames, the sills, the bureaus, my plates hanging on the wall, the mirror, brass headboard.. you get the idea. I washed the curtains and hung them back up, vaccummed, remade the bed and cleaned up the shelving. While I was doing all this, I was also watching the news. I watched the whole morning! I was on the phone with a friend and we both cheered when that crappy statue of Saddam was pulled down!
I jumped into the shower because I felt so grody (to the max -) and dusty. Miss O and I had lunch and we watched <i>more</i> news. We also had a huge tickle fight on my bed. :rotfl: I am running more laundry () and even folding AND putting it away too! Go me! Go me!
We are heading to Wal-mart this afternoon. I have to replace all my make-up, thanks to pink eye. Ooh, the phone... gotta run!

Awesome ailurophile!
I received <a href="http://www.ailurophile.com/"target=_blank>Christine's</a> package today. Not only did she send a copy of a cat pillow, she copied the book for me! She also included an absolutely adorable postcard depicting the ducks from Robert McCloskey's story "Make Way for Ducklings". The girls love his stories. M was so excited to see the card! As soon as she read the names of the ducklings (Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack and Quack), she knew what they were! :cheerful: {{{Christine}}} Thank you SO much!

Poem
I received the following email today from a friend.
"We got a letter from Josh <i>[her nephew]</i> today, if you could call it that, written 3/9.
They are hearing about the anti-war protests and he was upset. That' s all
the letter talked about.
He enclosed a poem he and his buddies wrote.
He wants us to get it out, let people see how they feel.
Any ideas?"
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Batallion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait

Wonderful Day
ACK! I wiped out my post! Let me start again.. :sigh:
O and I had a great day shopping. We stopped at AC Moore and I picked up 6 skeins of yarn. It was such a beautiful color that I just <i>had</i> to grab it. It's called Light Mulberry:
<img alt="yarn.bmp" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/yarn.bmp" width="189" height="356" border="0" />
I could only get 6 because there weren't any more in stock. I will try to stop back up sometime this week because I want to match up dye lots. If I can't, well, it will make one small afghan! :cheerful:
Then, we stopped at Toys R Us. That's My Scene Barbies were on sale - Buy 1 Get 1 Free. M has 2 birthday parties coming up so I picked some up for the birthday girls. I grabbed 2 more for the girls' Easter baskets. I don't buy candy because O can't eat any of it. Besides, M gets tons of candy from my inlaws. I also picked up these really cool <a href="http://pezco.securesites.com/store/products/product_view.php?offerCode=175">Pez rocket pen candy dispensers</a> for them:
<img alt="pez.bmp" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/pez.bmp" width="336" height="223" border="0" />
Aren't they COOL??? I did NOT pay $11.95 for them  TRU had them for $2.99, still a little pricey but I thought they were pretty damn cool.
Well, time to get dinner cookin'! Later gang!

Granny Square Update
Here are 2 more pictures of my granny square blanket! Exciting, isn't it?
It doesn't look that big while on the floor
so I took another picure with a tape measure, showing that it is almost 20" square with 15 rounds (rows) completed.
It needs to be a total of 40 rounds (rows) which should make it approximately 44"x44".

I skipped the gym so I can try to get a doctor's appointment this morning without O. They won't be open until 9am. I don't see any snow or even chances of snow. We will probably get rain or sleet, thank goodness. I know that up north is supposed to get anywhere from 4-10"! Heehee! Better you than me! I am DONE shoveling snow.

Fun Fun Fun!
Since we all overslept for church, we were relaxing around the house this morning. P let me sleep in, which was pretty nice. :cloud9: While I was eating breakfast, I was reading the paper and I noticed that <a href="http://www.allairevillage.com"target=_blank>Allaire Village</a> was offering free admission today! So, we packed up the kids, the car and we were off!
A little about Allaire Village:
<i>Historic Allaire Village celebrates the life and times of James P. Allaire's Howell Iron Works Company, a major industrial center in the 1830s. Located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, this 19th century village consists of a working blacksmith shop, carpenter shop, general store, bakery, church, enameling building, carriage house, row houses, and other dwellings. Numerous special events and educational programs are offered at the village year round (see Calendar of Events). Stroll the streets of this living history museum, tour the historic buildings, explore the retail shops and observe master crafstmen demonstrate their age-old trade.
Historic Allaire Village, a community listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places, is an outdoor, living-history museum operated by Allaire Village, Inc. </i>
Overall, it is a pretty cool place to check out, especially with kids. All the volunteers dress in period clothing and interact with the public, run demonstrations, etc. We visited the blacksmiths shop, bakery, carpentry shop and even rode a train! <BR>
<img alt="train.bmp" src="http://sugar-plum.net/kate/train.bmp" width="300" height="196" border="0" /><BR>
<a href="http://www.njmt.org/"target=_blank>Pine Creek Railroad</a> is an all volunteer run organization. It was founded in 1952 as a club, when three men purchased a small steam locomotive and installed rail at their first location on US Route 9 in Marlboro, NJ. Pretty cool, huh?
After all the fun at Allaire Village, we stopped at Mom's house and ended up staying for dinner. The girls had so much fun there. Mom has a TON of toys and books for them. I'm telling you, the girls are spoiled rotten! :boggled:
We finally got home around 8pm. O conked out on the ride home and M read. The got zoomed into the tub and pretty much into bed by 9pm. Now, I am just catching up on emails and blogs!
I would have posted more pictures but I forgot my camera  I hate when I do that!!

::yawn::
God - morning got here way too early. I didn't go to bed until 2am. I was watching the war on FoxNews and then I switched to VH-1 and caught "I love the 80's" featuring 1982. Man - I feel O L D! Pac-Man fever, leg warmers (I had 8-9 pairs), BAD hair...Oy..
I am feeding the troops now. O woke up at 7am, coughing from a post nasal drip. I had to give her a nebulizer treatment because she was starting to wheeze. Well - back to work! Later!

Crisis
Well, M had 3 crisises (crisi?) at the disco. The first was happened within the first 20 minutes of us arriving at the disco :sigh: Other than that, she (and the other 200 girls) had a great time. The DJ played some good tunes - "I'm a Believer" - Smashmouth, "Cotton-Eye Joe", "YMCA", the Electric Slide, the Macarena, the Chicken dance - they loved it all. Heck - I got out and did the Electric Slide! I love doing that! I even did the Macarena too.
The troop has an egg hunt tomorrow morning at 10am and then I am free for the day. I think I will see if M can hook up with a buddy for the day. She needs to be busy!
I am off to check out some blogs! Have a GREAT weekend!

Plans for this evening
There is a Girl Scout event tonight - a Cookie Disco - for all the Brownies who sold 100+ boxes. M is going as well as 5 other girls from our troop. It <i>should</i> be fun. I am sure M will have an emotional crisis of the moment and either cry or freak out :sigh: I HATE when she does this. She just has an emotional freak out.
Anyway - off to finish getting dinner ready - catch ya'll later.

Baby news
HAHAHA! Not for me!! That would be one damn funny joke! :rotfl:
I keep checking <a href="http://jenniferweiner.blogspot.com/"target=_blank>Jennifer Weiner's blog</a> - she is extremely pregnant and waiting to have her first baby! Good luck Jennifer! I wonder what she names the baby??

TGIF!
Hooray! It's Friday!
I skipped the gym today. I pulled a calf muscle while working out yesterday and it still hurts today. I didn't want to make matters worse....
I rolled change today. You may think I am crazy but I *love* to roll change. I find it relaxing. I know - - but I managed to roll $82.00 in 30 minutes! Woohoo! That hit the bank today.
I worked on my granny square today and I am up to 9 rounds. I will post a picture of it - I think it looks cool!

The afternoon
We had such a nice time today. O was just all over my Mom! It was pretty funny. Mom waited until M got home from school so she could see her too. Of course, she brings down more stuff for the girls :sigh: and she baked a cake for O. She just left about 15 minutes ago.
I have dinner in the oven (meatloaf) already and I have been finishing up the last 2 loads of laundry. Woohoo - the light at the end of the tunnel!

Chatty
My Mom is on her way down to my place so I have a few minutes to chit-chat.
When I brought O to school, Mrs. D, the woman who runs the preschool program for the township, commented on O's skills. She said she had to "compliment you for being a good parent". She said she could tell we read with O quite a bit as her language and comprehension is through the roof.
So - enough of me bragging! I think MY Mommy is already here! Gotta go!

<a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030402/ap_on_re_mi_ea/war_germany_2"target=_blank>Germany Now Backs Regime Change in Iraq
BERLIN - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said Wednesday he hoped Saddam Hussein's government would collapse quickly, marking a stark turnaround from Germany's previous opposition to regime change as a goal of the U.S.-led war. </a>

Picture this
O and I, cuddling on the couch. She is being super cuddly and adorable. We are laughing and tickling each other when, all of a sudden, she grabs my index finger of my right hand, pulls it up towards her face and says "Mommy! Pick my nose!"
I tell ya, it was a Hallmark moment.

Yay!
My ChemLawn guy is here! Hooray! His co-worker was headed into the backyard when I realized that I had a small rack on the back porch - all loaded with my bras!! I didn't want to put them in the dryer! Ai yi yi! I ran through the house, almost knocking over O, and hauled the rack in <i>right</i> before the guy got into the backyard. LOL!

Good In Bed
I just finished reading <i>Good In Bed</i> by <a href="http://www.jenniferweiner.com/"target=_blank>Jennifer Weiner</a>, who also has a <a href="http://jenniferweiner.blogspot.com/"target=_blank>weblog</a>. It is truly one of the best best books I have read. I laughed through a lot of it and cried my eyes out towards the end... I highly recommend it!

Pathetic
Oh my gosh - I actually got all excited that the mailman was coming up the street. No - not <i>excited</i> you pervs! More like
<i>
Here's the mail, it never fails.
It makes me want to wag my tail.
When it comes I want to wail "MAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIILLLLLLL"</i>
Oy - someone take me out back and put me out of my misery!

Play date
O had so much fun with her buddy today. I invited them to stay for lunch as well. Liz, the mom, left to pick up her 4 year old son from preschool and brought him back for lunch too. The kids had so much fun. Plus - it's nice to be able to sit and chat with an adult over cups of cawfee! :coffee:
Other than that, it's been pretty boring around here. I am doing laundry and O is watching Robin Hood - the Disney version.
Well - I should go do something productive.......... nahhhhhhhhhhhh.....

No post last night
I was going to post. Honestly! O woke up with a nasty cough, which led to wheezing which led to a nebulizer treatment. I just shut the computer down after we tucked her back into bed. I just got ready for bed and passed out!
I'll try to write more this afternoon - it's laundry day. :yuck:
